As someone who grew up in Las Vegas in the 1990s, I’m glad all of these family attractions existed. They may not have attracted the tourists they were meant to, but they sure made being a kid in Las Vegas at that time something special.

I LOVED the pirate show! Growing up, we stayed at Circus Circus so my brother and I had stuff to do (including all-day passes at the adventure dome), but we would pester our parents to go see the pirate show. The Siren show was good (more comedic), but I was a little heartbroken to see it's no more.

Sure, it isn't much, but it'll always be close to me. Still so sad about the Rim Runner being gone, I was too chicken to ride El Loco and it's interesting that a lot of track from Rim inner had been left untouched (the lift hill is still there!)

I first visited Las Vegas in 1996, when I was 8 years old. My family only went to check out the casinos, specifically Fremont Street. However, we did visit Circus Circus and watched the trapeze show and hung out in the arcade area. I lived in Las Vegas two times during the 2000's and returned to Sin City in 2018 for the 3rd time. I haven't had time to visit The Adventuredome, work and trying to pay the bills. I remember going on the Rim Runner back in 2004, the park removed it for El Loco in 2014. During 2008, I created a record by riding Canyon Blaster 16 times in 2 hours before the park closed. After almost 10 years, now is the time for the park to expand the dome to add a new themed area and put in a new roller coaster.

I went to fright dome that year and honestly? fnaf was easily the worst haunted house we went in that night. We followed our guide in a straight line the entire way and.... nothing happened? we would walk into the different rooms and things would be moving and there was a bunch going on and then it would all just turn off abruptly, intentionally, and that was about it? I was in the back of the line and the only remotely scary thing that happened was I felt something hit the back of my foot and i glanced back and saw an actor dressed up as a chicken? (I'm not familiar with the games idk what it was) but that was it. I got startled obviously but they paused in their step since they got too close to me and started shuffling behind me once there was enough distance between us but that was it. Allegedly it was supposed to be an interactive house but the guides stress that you have to stick with them the entire time and follow in a straight line because they would not turn back for you. And they meant it. There was no mention beforehand that we could touch anything, and it was a big no no to touch anything in the other houses so naturally we assumed the same rules applied. So yeah... unfortunately it was not a good maze. Absolutely nothing happened. It sets and costumes looked pretty spot on from what I've seen of the game so maybe fans would've appreciated it but yeah.... not a very good haunted house.

I loved Adventuredome, I used to spend days there as a kid and the roller coaster is still one of my all time favorites. The crowds were so tolerable there, it always had this feel that you had the park to yourself. I remember riding the roller coaster 10 to 15 times in a row with no wait time. Playing "Mad Dog" in the arcade. And then dominating some laser tag. As a SoCal resident, this place gives me almost as much nostalgia as Disneyland or Knotts.

It's because Las Vegas never really had the local population to sustain a theme park until 2010. Honestly, locals don't want to go to the Strip in order to enjoy a day out with the family. If they had built it in the suburbs away from the strip, locals would go. It would be like Disneyland in the way that more locals than tourists would be there on the regular. That's how it works with the 2 water Parks we have. Wetn Wild 2.0 on the Westside and Cowabunga Bay on the east side. Annual passes and locals all season long. I just wish those waterparks were indoors so they could be year round. One thing they got right with Adventure Dome was it being indoors.

It will forever hold a special place in my heart. i loved going to Circus Circus back in the 90's. I remember each hotel having some sort of Arcade room to entertain the kids. My personal favorites back then were Excalibur's own carnival themed play room, MGM had a nice arcade floor, as well as Luxor, New York New York and Treasure Island. Nowadays, you really can't find a hotel with a decent arcade room. Circus Circus stayed with this theme though. And as ghetto as it was to visit, nostalgia was always welcomed. At the Adventure dome i LOVED the Laser Tag arena.

When I went to Vegas when I was five, we ALMOST stayed at the Circus Circus. When we got there, we didn't have a resort to stay at yet so we just walked around until we picked one. My mom and I liked Circus Circus because I loved the arcade games and she liked how family-friendly it was. My dad wanted to stay at the now demolished Frontier...we ended up at the Frontier. And boy did it smell bad. The Frontier saw better days.
Circus Circus thought of the box, they wanted to re-invent Vegas. And they did it. It reminds me of how Times Square was transformed from a rundown place ridden with crime and whatnot to a family-friendly tourist mecca.

I honestly think the Adventure Dome really was a good idea in concept.
I think it's only major flaw (and indeed, the main thing that has prevented it from having any serious expansion) is the simple fact that they really don't have much space to work with... Even if they weren't bound by the glass dome, 5 acres is still a pretty small footprint for a full-scale amusement park, so it's pretty much impossible to add anything other than more flat rides without taking some stuff out.
Maybe if they built a parking structure next to the dome specifically so they could get rid of the parking lot that currently sits under it, they could potentially expand the park *vertically* by building some new stuff below "floor level"... Like, maybe a dark ride or a 3rd roller coaster (4th if you count Miner Mike), perhaps?

Extremely well done. You always do a good job but this one was especially impressive. I stayed here with the family once in the late 70's and the way you described it was correct. It tried to be everything to everyone. As a kid in his single-digits, I liked it. The adults played, I ran off and did my own things, no one got hurt. ( ...that my parents ever found out about . ) On that same token, we also didn't go back. Gambling is gambling, and theme parks are theme parks, they don't always mix. The adults did their gambling at slot machines, I did my gambling every time I bought something from the snack bar. ( ...and lost. Thank you under-cooked corn dog. )

Circus Circus is still a decent property in Vegas. The rooms are cheap and the table minimums are lower than other places on the strip. The last time I went into the Adventure Dome, it wasn't bad either, and well kept up. They still have the Midway circus acts and boardwalk games too. The biggest gripe with Circus Circus is the area surrounding the property. Slots a Fun is next to the CC, and used to be a great place to gamble. It appears to be going under, as there are no table games and just a few slots as of my last visit. The Riviera was across the street, but it is gone. The streets between Circus and Circus and downtown are not safe for pedestrians. Arrive and leave by vehicle and you will be fine. PRO TIP: The Peppermill restaurant is directly across the street from the CC, and it is an old school Vegas landmark. Great food, especially breakfast.
