PBD was in Grant Cardone show this week. He said he has another opinion than Gary Vee on the subject of "made" or "born" entrepreneurs. I agree with PBD. Gary Vee is amazing but his dad had a 3Millions$ business…it doesn't take anything away from Gary Vee's amazing talent and hard work but his starting point is different than most people.

Thank you Pat, I was once a lazy kid who was going to school only because he was told he had to. I was getting degrees just because I was told that was the only way to make it. Then one day a friend of mine showed me what being an entrepreneur is and since I have been working hard to network and build myself into who I am today. So an entrepreneur can be made it just takes the right amount of push. Your videos truly are a great source of knowledge not just inspiration.

The thing is... without believing you can become the greatest you'll never find out if you actually can, so I'd say - in my personal opinion best thing to do is for everyone to believe they can, at all times, just never give up and make sure they are having fun along the way, and not just telling themselves "ll ONLY be happy once I make it"

I don't believe there's such a thing as born to become something so I will go with made. Feeling, motivation, adversity, more importantly experience push a person to become something great in their life. Almost everyone has a turning point. If you don't toughen yourself, don't even think of becoming a tough person you badly wanna become. Things are made so are entrepreneurs. Thanks for this video: I really liked it.

I watched and learned. I worked for a company which I thought didn't see what was happening with computers, getting smaller, cheaper, faster. I learned everything I could, went off on my own, refined whatever I thought was good from my company, etc. So I would say entrepreneurs are made, and not everyone can do it.

I believe that people can change into what they want to be... but it takes a long time to change your mind. I went from being homeless and thinking I wasn't better than minimum wage to starting my own web design and internet marketing agency in a decade. It takes time and effort.. and you need to have a reason WHY. Without the WHY, nothing is going to change.

Hey Pat ! As always a great video from you! You told us what you really meant.
I agree on 99% on what you said in the video.
But, the thing that I must disagree is when you said that "You can't become the greatest!!!", I know that I will be having lots of critiques to my comment, but here's why.
I think everyone can be the greatest. But the problem with 99.9999% of people is that they do not want or simply they might be even not aware that one day the could become the greatest. You could become the greatest, even me, even my neighbour next door who is 10 and who is a big jerk could become.
It's simply about our will, intention and motivation and hard work.
The road to the greatest is hard, so hard that, like I said, 99.9999% of people would just give up and say "F*ck it, it's impossible, I can't do this anymore!".
And I can say like that, maybe even you can say that, everebody could say that sentence. So that's why I have a different opinion on that.
I might be a 19 years old kid that is bullshitting and I am not even in that "FUN" part of entrepreneurship.
When I become "FUN" and then "PRO" (which I really hope) one day, no matter how impossible it seems to become "THE GREATEST" I will fight until the last day of my life.
And even if I didn't make it, I will say to myself "At least I tried, I didn't give up at the first moment"!
No one knows what they could expect in their lives, not even me nor you, Pat, everyone.
But, the reason I admire you is because you want to help somebody to become a successful entrepreneur one day. I you was a douchebag (and there are a lot of them), you wouldn't make this amazing channel of your and inspire and motivate people of all ages and you'll only care for money.
And I think that entrepreneurship is not all about money and fame and luck or whatever else. Entrepreneurship means to be known and respected by other people and to help and motivate them to achieve their dreams!!! And that's exactly what you are doing!
If one day I become a successful entrepreneur (may be even the greatest, who the hell knows :D ), I will first thank to you and then to me. And the reason is clear! :D

beliefs of a culture change over time for example attraction. Most people only talk about their personal experience and not with true facts. You have to understand you natural abilities and limitations. There's a few ways people choose a career path family, role model, desperation, a dream, you role with a clique. Very few become the greatest of all time but anyone can become very good at it.

I'm on the "entrepreneurs are made" side, your point of view is also good, It's a very different point of view and kind of more realistic since you emphasize on the circumstances for every person, it's true Elon Musk can't be replicated because he had the right circumstances and abilities to become what he is now, I'm going to reconsider my thoughts about it

I beleive entrepreneurs are made. My grandfather was an entrepreneur, my uncles were entrepreneurs and my dad was a cop but he ran small businesses with my mom managing it full time. When I was about 6 yrs old and being the oldest son out of 4 boys my job was to help my mom after school and during the weekends. I hated it since I couldn't go play with my friends after school or during the weekends. It was my dad who taught me about entrepreneurship. My dad didn't make enough money as a cop so the businesses helped him raise 4 boys and invest in his properties. I learnt about hard work when I was a kid.

And stuck with it and the older I get the better I get at being a entrepreneur from more experience try new things and perfecting the art. My now 94 year old Grandma used to call me an entrepreneur before I even understood what the word meant when I was selling dollar store yo yos on the playground.

Still finishing up the video, but I had a question about the part starting at 25:28......
Whether or not it can ever actually be achieved, should an aspiring entrepreneur be striving to be "the greatest"? Or does having such a lofty ideal discourage the entrepreneur in the long run?
I've always heard the Norman Vincent Peale quote "shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you will land among the stars", which I love. Donald Trump always talks about "thinking big". Etc
So I'm just wondering what your thoughts on this are. I don't want to dream too big and wind up frustrated and/or discouraged, but I also don't want to not dream big enough and therefore not be pulled to succeed as much as I am capable of. How does one find a happy / productive medium?
Thanks man, I really enjoyed this video! I've heard you mention the topic a bunch in other videos, and I think I know exactly who irritated you by claiming entrepreneurship can't be taught. I gotta say though, I really love his content as well. He does have a bit of an ego (and who wouldn't, with what he has accomplished?), but I've seen enough of him to know there is a lot of love and humility towards his own following hidden beneath the ego.
Furthermore, I am pretty sure his beliefs about this topic are pretty similar to your own. Now, whether or not that is how he presents himself to the world is a different story entirely, lol.
Anyways, keep up the great work. This video was one of my favs from you, I'll probably come back and rewatch it in a few days :)
    -EJ`

  • @algirdaspaskevicius5690

From one side, I agree with you. But if you look at this argument from another side, entrepreneur is a person who has characteristics and abilities to become oone. And I am happy to say, that with some work, anyone can rise their abilities and form their characteristics to a level which can help you become an entrepreneur, but of course, some people are born with characteristics that are common to entrepreneurs. To sum up, people learn all these abilities, people form their characteristics and become successful, but some people are born with better character and need less time to become a successful personality. It always depends on personality and abilities!

I totally agree with you that being an entrepreneur is a combination of all the factors you outlined. But when you put out this question to young people: can you be the greatest? I'm thinking why not. We should never limit ourselves. The end is only determined at the end.

I think everyone is born as an entrepreneur naturally because they strive to survive. However I think that they learn how to not take risks and become a job type person as they grow up.

Great video Pat! I believe that it's a two step process. Those who are born into a family of entrepreneurs need to think that at one point in time whether it be there father or great grand father or whoever it may be had to choose to become an entrepreneur to be able to have others born into that lifestyle. So first anyone can become an entrepreneur once you have and succeeded that's when people are born into it. To me I believe it's all combined as one and not two different arguments.

The reason we see Gary Vee in Patrick is cause they are both immigrints and both came here to America to better themselves, support their parents (its a custom tradition to take care of ur parents) and follow the dream. Both are hard workers naturally.

Brenda's gotta baby! That's wassup Pat! What a mind Pac had even at such a young age.
I first saw you on entrepreneur.com, i think the video was how to become a billionaire where you said that you have to become a full time entrepreneur who works crazy hours a day. Right then i realized you are the real deal! Before I found you i was watching these other guys and i just didnt get much out of their videos, but you sir are dropping gems!
I'm 32 and been working 9-5 ever since after college but from a young age i was interested in businesses. I remember husslin some type of chewing tobacco we have here in switzerland when i was in grade 4 after watching New Jack City lol
I got a few projects going after i come home from work but progress is slow due to not being able to make the full time switch yet. But the momentum is slowly picking up...
Anyway, as for this video... i think you have both, born entrepreneurs and those that are made. Id guess the born entrepreneurs will be more successful because they have the traits needed, like the discipline and persistence. I don't know if the people who kinda bump in to a business have what it takes to really take it far. I've seen in my personal experience people who wanna support me in my projects but i see that they aren't that curious after all to really research about things and go the extra mile. Not to be judgemental though, just my personal observation.
Anyway keep it up Pat! I'm really at the start and your videos really help me!

Can you tell me the name of the book? As a kid i just used to be a fan of his music, but now as i got older i realized there's so much one can learn from him. Especially his work ethic, which is exactly what you're saying about being full time. He could make 5 songs in one night and made a classic album in less than a week.

I believe you can be born with it in your DNA. I also believe once you find your passion you can be an entrepreneur as well. Either way you have to study and perfect your craft in order to become great

    Hey Pat,
Can you do a video about being an entrepreneur transitioning from the "up and coming" mind state of launching your business, to thinking like a business owner? That would be great!
