Paula, thank you so much for this video!!! I watched it in September of this year, studied my various materials, then used your last 30-day method with the encyclopedia. I passed the NCE yesterday!!! Your website is incredible, as well.
Wow!!! Excellent and conflagrations. It’s such a relief, isn’t it??
@@podcastunderstandsuicide6823 Absotively Posilutely!!!
Congratulations. I take my CPCE in August.
@@moniqueirvin9284 Thanks so much! I'm rooting for you, Monique!!!
Hi Yolanda. What field of counseling/career choice did you go into once you passed the test ie mental health, suicide, substance abuse or death and dying etc?
I thank you so much. I am 35 years in the field and decided to now take the exam. I just purchased the purple book.
I am studying for the test and will soon take it. I want to say thank you for this video and for how genuine you are. I felt like I was in the room with you, and you were speaking to me directly, especially in the last message. I am confident that these tips will help me pass! Thank you again ❤
Thank you, Johanna for such kind words. Best luck to you. And welcome to the profession.
Your video is straight forward and accurate! I have been a counselor for 15 years, with 13 of those years as a high school counselor. My state licensing exam for school counseling consisted of theory, ASCA, ethics, and mostly application-based questions! One year ago, I took the LPC licensing course through my school district and The Citadel college. i am now about to embark on the NCE in about a month. This video has been very helpful. Thank you :)
good luck, Karen!
Very helpful information! Thank you!!!
I'm in the process of studying for the NCE a little less than a month to go. This video was so helpful. Those reframes at the end brought such relief. I fully believe you are such a great counselor even just from those reframes and being mindful of how important anxiety can be. Thank you!
Thank you, Katie! Hope you are doing well with your studies. :)
Yes all of what you shared is helpful. Thank you girl the end reframe when you said it I actually happy sighed😊🤗
Great insights! Thanks for sharing! I love that a person can see the NCE as "gift" - and gift to pass it! Super!
Thank you! I will take and pass the NCE (reframe 😊) in 46 days so this was perfect timing that I found your video and your study plan! I needed the organization, so much to study and your information helped me. Thank you!
Good luck!!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank You so much for the tips and encouraging words, God bless you
You are so welcome
Yes I have the cards and find the mometrix cards very overwhelming but I do appreciate the video links at the bottom of each card. Now, mometrix does have case studies to practice and practice exams for a fee.
Amazing video!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video, Paula - I feel so much better about studying and preparing for the NCE. Very grateful!
You’re welcome! Good luck

Did you pass???? hope so.
@@podcastunderstandsuicide6823 Yes I did!!! Thanks to you!!! Thanks for checking in.
Hi. Is the only requirement to take the test is having your masters degree or do you need a set number clinical/supervise hours to take the exam? Is the an application test prep book out to help us study for the exam? Did you use flash cards?
Muchas gracias por la información, mi nombre es Luz Elena Cunha
you're welcome.
Hello, I did not see the link for the Outline?
I am taking the exam in almost 3 weeks and I haven't had a chance to study because of work and other commitments. I just started studying the Rosenthal book and I am only on pg 200.
Any tips or suggestions for last minute studying???
How did you do?
How did you get the Rosenthal set in MP3 form?
A friend gave me but from what I know he sells in CDs, then you can convert it. It’s also on amazon.
I’m confused- how are you working unlicensed? Or is Oregon different? We do a year of internship- but we can’t work until we are licensed in Texas. How are you gaining another year out of school and working?
in Oregon we only get a license after 1900 hours of direct client hours, but we get to work as an "associate" until then, otherwise, we would never reach the hours.
@@podcastunderstandsuicide6823 oh dang. Okay I understand. I wish we could do that, so we could have time before taking the exam. We graduate (pass comps during that) then we have to take the NCE to become an associate. We can’t start working (outside of the internship time in school) until we are an associate. Then we have to work as an LPC-A for 3000 hours (minimum 18 months). At that point, we can stop with supervision and become fully licensed independently. Makes sense. I like that y’all can have work experience prior to this exam, in a meaningful way. Taking this exam next week. :)
wow, glad I'm in Oregon. We used to need 2500 hours, they just changed to 1900.
Hi! , I have done my masters in psychology from India. Am I eligible for this exam?
this exam is for counselors, not psychologists. :)
Great insight but my state requires the test to get a license.
Some states do, but the tips on how to prepare apply just the same. Hope they are helpful to you, good luck!
What state are you in?
My university is mandatory for the students to take the CPCE before we graduate.
really? I guess it's different everywhere.
Same, I graduated from Liberty University Online studies in Lynchburg, VA.
Would you considering all of your tips and resources to be up to date for taking the NCE in 2024? :) Just wanted to confirm
for sure!
