You don't have to thank anyone, we have to thank you for this amazing job you've been doing for us, Thank you so much.
I had a feeling you'd explore either this or 'Un Chien Andalou'.
Great job. You definitely deserve those 2,000 subs and more!
the most timeless movie ever...i watched this movie with michael nyman's soundtrack and my feelings were beyond words
nice. i was hoping you would do this or an andalucian dog
I'm glad the Kinok's philosophy didn't fly. Although the film itself is interesting, the complete rejection of narrative as bourgeois luxury is not only something not socialist (which is all about the narrative of revolution and change), but so exclusive as to be bourgeois itself. "Only our educated version of cinema is truly socialist" is exclusionary.
it didn't fly because the revolution, of which art was a part, was missed. narrative art has nothing to do with revolution and change. Soviet Realism, the aesthetic demands of a Stalinist state was completely reactionary compared to modernism that arranged against representation and narration. There's a good argument that all realism is regressive. Communism is not about adapting to the masses but about them overcoming themselves. A satisfaction and applause to how people are is essentially a fear of what they *could* be. Don't take art at face-value. That art which idealised the proletariat hoped they would never escape that identity; that bourgeois or avant-garde art which through form appeals to the world to come speaks to the proletarian liquidating itself: the real movement of communism
You spoke some truth, but they were wrong because the absolute truth doesnt exists, Objectivity is only a word in the dictionary that cant be achieved. You cant capture the reality as a own, because reality is what we perceive along our algorithms and mechanical attributes, and that is why pluralism is the truth.
also funny no dislike to this point anyway ...XDDD
Cinema was quite young at that and these kind of experiments were vital so that it could grow. That's why this movie has such an importance in cinematic history. The same experiment is the need of hour in today's cinema, as it has deteriorated
I just watched this film in class. Such a great watch.

What subject did you take an exam on?
... Without a story?
0:23 not "russian city"! it was filmed in Ukraine!
they should be referred as "Soviet" at that time, but people on the West usually replaced Soviet with Russian.
Love your videos

Great treatment of an interesting concept and film. Revealed an interesting internal conflict in the movement, too:
0:52 The Kinok movement rejects all staged cinema
1:40 Man with a Movie Camera was filmed over three years in five different cities but was presented as one day in one city
Hmm, seems staged...
I love MWAMC and agree that cinema is the greatest art form, but I disagree with the Kinoks' rejection of *ALL* forms of drama and their communist politics (then again, I reject most forms of politics).
I believe staged means "representation". Acting on a theather about something that is actually absent on stage
