Would foreshadowing be the best tool to use if you want to hint at potential plots or character arcs that will occur in the next book, in a 3 part series for example? If not what other tools might work better to leave the reader with a hint or cliff hanger but still have them feeling like the current story resolved to their satisfaction?
Another foreshadowing technique some writers might enjoy is to use symbolism as foreshadowing. Things like having a little anecdote from the MC's childhood, or an object/scene/event in the story, be a miniature version of the story as a whole.
Give examples. We have plenty of literature so pick a few examples ..this video is dry and doesn't penetrate the fog of foreshadowing. Maybe select a few authors whose style of foreshadowing are different and yet effective in their own way?
I'd say the having a skill in detective for an interview with you and the police but no charges paid when a man in wheelchair starts with asking for smoking and drinking money.
