Oh hey I didn't realize you had a mecha channel. Durability of kits is super important, it's a pain to deal with a kit that explodes when you touch it, it's why I've been telling people that the RG Hi-Nu is the best bandai had to offer, this kit is now in my backlog and I really cannot wait to put it together to see how well it holds up compared to that kit. I also appreciate that this thing wasn't like 50 bucks but was less than 40 where I got it.

We were in the same boat in almost every way. In fact, I avoided RG and many 1/144 for a few years the 1.0 left such a bad taste in my mouth. This kit was an absolute treat and prompted me to grab 3 of the most recent RGs with ‘mg inspired’ inner frames. I just finished a Zeong, and I’m excited to see how sazabi and Nu stack up to this latest rx78 2.0. Very excited for RG shining gundam and I hope this means we get an RG Zaku 2.0.

The year is 2014. I am obsessed with LEGO and have found myself watching Jang review the Creator Grand Emporium. The set is outside of my usual range of LEGO themes, but it’s really nice so I need it for my collection.
The year is 2024. I’ve recently become obsessed with Gunpla and have unexpectedly found myself watching Jang review the RG RX 78-2 2.0. It’s not a HG G-Witch kit like the rest of what I’m interested in, but it’s the latest and greatest in Gunpla so I need it for my increasingly Sisyphean backlog.

At this point I think you've definitely graduated from being an amateur, and I personally think the English-speaking Gunpla community on RUclips greatly benefits from a wider array of viewpoints.

I have built four RG Gundams, and they were all fun to build (if a little confusing due to their complexity), and the final results are really neat. I just wish they'd do more Zeon and/or grunt suits, because the primary coloured hero-suits get a bit repetitive for me. I bought the more unusual ones such as the Z'gok and Tallgeese.
The RX-78 2.0 looks great, but seems like it's basically a tiny PGU, and having already built one of those, I don't feel the need to do it again, only smaller.
I have a pretty big stack of unbuilt gunpla, so I don't need more. That is, not until they release a MG Kshatriya and Geara Zulu, or basically any PG that's not a rehash of a pre-existing kit.

Nice to have someone who cares about durability along with articulation!
So many times I see reviews that go over how awesome a model is with little regard to how durable it is overall, unless it's a horrible mess of poorly toleranced parts.
Might end up getting this one for my own collection down the road.
Have you built any Astray gundams besides the PG red frame? Also, would you consider doing a review of it and/or your favorite astray model besides the PG?

It's amazing how much detail they were able to cram into such a small kit and have it still be perfectly stable
I dare say no Master Grade kit has an Inner Frame as impressive, not even the RX-78-2 3.0
Also, you just KNOW that kit is gonna stay flexible and amazing, since it's not using polycaps. Perhaps after this, they'll finally do a RG GM!

it compliments the rg Zeong.. for me i agree with you on this but I prefer the rg right now compare to mg.. the smaller size makes it easier to put in shelf however we are gearing closer to the perfect real grade soon since these are technically master grade made smaller and the price point is almost the same..the smaller size like the decals specially the eyes are a little tricky to put in.. specially me who prefers straight builds. The core fighter feature kind sucks for me.. since it didnt change much on the articulation so I till prefer the rg God gundam and Rg cross bone the ones with core fighters that dosnt break that dosnt limit the articulation
so far the worst i own in the rg 1 is the original rg rx 71 yeah that broke off and i was force to glue everything due to the pre build inner frame and the unfinished gao gigar because the head piece and the dang articulated fingers literraly disolved in my huge hands.. in egneral "articulated fingers in gunpla regardless of the grade" is the worst for me..
I havent built the zeong yet from my back logs I'm still searching the whole web is it as fragile as the one with gao gigar and other mg's withs imilar fingers?

Which is better, this one or Rx 78 3.0 mg?

    • @JangMecha
      @JangMecha  7 дней назад +1

They're different sizes. MG is 1/100 scale so about 40% taller than 1/144 scale RGs of the same mech, with usually more (but larger) parts. Beyond size, *age* of kit tends to make the biggest difference in quality & engineering, and since this RG 2.0 is a brand new kit and the MG 3.0 is from 2013, you're going to see more elevated engineering in the RG as well as improved material science. Most of the latest RGs really are the best of the best, with rare exception.

I just finished building the frame portion in my kit. **CAUTION TO ALL** I nearly completely broke my elbow joint when I attempted to flex it. For some reason it felt really tight on one side and when I went to flex it, the piece almost came apart. Now the right elbow is all loose 😢. Just careful and don’t force anything if it’s too tight (that’s what she said 🤣).

RG Nu, and RG Sazabi are great as well. You don’t need to worry about pieces falling off of those from my own experience. The Nu was a bit more enjoyable than the Sazabi due to the tiny funnels though.
