This would make a great theme for some National Geographic documentary about mushrooms :D
THE COMMENT REVIVER
_"And over here as we pan the camera to the left, we see this giant mushroom creature ambushing its prey. The creature uses its flexible body to swing itself repeatedly and violently to squash whatever adversary near it like a pancake before disposing of it by eating what is left."_
_”This creature is known as an Shrumal Warrior. The Shrumal Warrior looks like a mushroom but if you come too close, it’s game over. Surprisingly, the Shrumal Warrior releases a odor, known to nearly kill vessels or humans. This phenomenon happens because the Warrior wishes to protect their young. The odor also follows the Warrior. As we see the vessel and the Warrior fighting, let’s take a closer look. The Warrior uses a defense mechanism to ball up and hop over their enemies. This move is commonly used to fake out predators. The creature uses its stem-like body to swing up into a ball and hop over its enemies.”_

And over there is its young, being slaugtered by a vessel

@@thwatermelongod Same, I could've sworn it was "Caps and shrooms may fall to dust but Mr Mushroom readjusts".
Must be Mandela effect.
@@Mask_Maker1nah not mandela effect I just messed up the line cause I forgot, I’ll edit it now
And here I am having thought it was *kingdoms* fall to ash and dust :/
I need to play the game more..
I remember first getting here. Everything felt so dangerous and odd, I was paranoid of a boss in every room, and I felt like THIS was probably the deep part of the map. Good times.
Good old days. I went in here not expecting to enter an new realm. I had discovered crystal peak before this and died continuously. I thought "Oh shit not again." Saw a balloon elephant and noped out of there, thinking it was a super strong enemy I would definitely die to 😂
Me too

Man, it feels good seeing these mantises bow down to you after making your life hell everytime you had to get through them to challenge their lords yet again.
fsr I just feel so respecting back towards them as well like I just bow back every time
Just the idea that we have this understanding between us idk
I killed each one of them while they were bowing
it’s the small touches in this game that make it special 😀

This 20 second always give me a weird feeling to start thinking of the life
Thinking of the life?
@@m0bz0mb38 his life i think
I think its because of this wonderful violin tune in those 20 second
@@m0bz0mb38 this comment makes you really wanna think about the life
This parts giving me hard skyward sword vibes. A lot of this OST does
I love the suspicous, quirky, and misterous vibe this theme gives, especialy with the lead melody which has many parts with semitone resonence (going from one note to another 1 semitone away from it) which kinda fits the quirky nature of fungi, as they're essentialy a plant-animal hybrid
Fun fact, fungi are actually more closely related to animals than plants.
Its quite, sus.
@@Horny_Fruit_Flies I am a aware. But i was just saying how they're not quitte plant or animal. Thanks for the notice though!
@@oreo_smoothie74that's cause they're fungi
I can LITERALLY hear all of the annoying creatures chirping and scurrying around as I listen to this.
Like that one mushroom that does somersaults.
Literally? Go to a doctor then 😂
this song sounds minimalistic
just like the shrooms
I JUST NOTICED THAT FUNGAL WASTES USES A HARPSICHORD IN THE BACKGROUND AND ONE OF THE MANTIS LORDS THEME'S PRIMARY INSTRUMENTS IS THE HARPSICHORD!! THE SONGS ARE GIVING THE CONNECTION BECAUSE THE MANTISES ARE IN THE FUNGAL WASTES THATS SO COOL!! CHRISTOPHER LARKIN YOU ABSOLUTELY GENIUS MADLAD!!!!!

@@youtubeuser84848 world building and storytelling through the medium of musical association
@@puglife658 yeah, probably a lot of lore hidden in the music
More brilliance: you can hear the plucked strings playing a variation on the Hollow Knight leitmotif at 0:12. Not sure if that's referencing anything lore-wise, but it was years before I heard it lol
That motif shows up in almost every song in the game actually. You can hear it when the lead first comes in in Greenpath@@MrMisterkrazy
*I like how one minute you’re into a place that’s pretty melancholic (Fungal Waste)! the next you’re in an area with dead bugs and bugs that wanna kill you with the one of the FKING CREEPIEST THEMES EVER!!! (DeepNest)!*

i like how the plucked strings are more playful and match the general area while the long synths are more majestic and match the mantis village. cool how much a song can change with a few instruments
my favorite part about this theme is the faint harpsichord you can hear in mantis territory. it's such a nice detail, especially with how harpsichord-heavy the mantis lords theme is

Mushy room! I love this song!
I guarantee you that if you leave your speakers on and loop this song as you sleep, I promise you the shroom effect will impact your dreams. Certainly did me, try it :)
When you wake up you are able to understand mister mushroom without the charm
Wish that would work for me. I’m sick of having Genshin Impact dreams every night

Trying to set up context for each hollow knight song in this playlist before the song ends:
As if greenpath hadn’t felt alive enough, this place felt like a living organism that liked to keep to itself. The ground you tred on releases spores with every step, as if warning SOMETHING of your presence. You’re not sure you want to know what that something may be. Or perhaps you’ll emerge unscathed, and even stronger for it. The spores glow like little lights as you walk on.
This song has been stuck in my head for the past few days and I don’t know why. I haven’t even been to fungal wastes in months :/
The wastes call to you, you must return
2:14 sounds so epic
This track strikes me as incredibly correct for the area. It's just...right. That's part of what this game does so well with its music, it's very good at getting the mood perfectly spot on
The part starting at 2:17 gives me existential thoughts idk why
i was searching for a reply that commented about this part, the reverb def makes it sound otherworldy.
Oh man this is so good
I love the little mushroom dudes. lmfao
I heard this so much challenging mantis lords, epic ost though
Ah! The ptsd
@@Barondelculo its the skill spike tbh
Most underrated area in the game. The main reason I say that is simply because I haven’t ever seen someone pick it as their favorite area. I love the visuals, the “neutral” vibe of the soundtrack, the size of the area, and of course the grasshoppers and their village + boss fight. Idk, something about the Fungal Wastes feels unappreciated.
the atmosfere is just cool here
When you are escaping from an extremely tight place and suddenly you hear this track
Inspired me to pick up my bassoon after 4 years. Cheers :)
2:13 stranger danger 3: No longer a danger, just a relaxing fungal waste
Waluigi is a mushroom. He says wah and so do the mushrooms. He’s also from the mushroom kingdom …..yeah
The air filled with an acidic fungal fume, the mushrooms acting as though alive
Best be careful not to fall to your doom, as through this place lies your greatest prize
BoInGgG! WOoowwWW! uGGhH! _scitterscitterscitter_

0:12 it took me way too long to notice that this was the hollow knight motif. It just blends so well with the rest of the track.
This has been my alarm wake up tune for a few years now. It's perfect to wake up.
amazing soundtrack, amazing area
I love this track reminds me a little of bowsers inside story
All sorts of camouflaged insects glimpsing at each other while in a secretly very busy mosspad.
every single time i hear this song i am obligated to make the fungoon noise
ooOOOoo
this beat sounds like its gonna play in the background while David Attenborough talks about the wonders of wildlife
I always thought this one sounded like an animal documentary
Favorite reigon ❤
This song puts me in a silly mood
i love the "bum bum bum bum bum bum" at the start of the song
David Attenborough doing a documentary on mantis would work well with this.
I can already hear the voice
1:25 I have no clue what the instrument played here is, but its absolutely gorgeous and I want to know what it is
It's a bassoon. Woodwind instrument used in orchestras since the XVI century, and in HK it appears in other tracks as well (actually rn I can only think Greenpath, but maybe it plays in others) but not as prominently as here in Fungal Wastes. For some reason it does sound very "mushroom-y" so it makes sense it's mostly used in here. :)
I think it's the basoon
I love humming along to the part at 2:05 in game. Such a great resolution.
Home of the Waluigi mushrooms!
I felt like i was a spy
everyday mood
I remember when I got to Mantis Village at like 6 masks and then subsequently died to 3 Young Mantises chasing me to death
Waaah!!!!
Música perfeita para o bioma dos fungos eu gosto demais de ouvir ela
There is no other location in hollownest that is both my absolute favorite location and my absolute least favorite location.
The Mantis village is straight up one of if not my favorite place in all of hollownest. The normal mantises are fun to fight, it holds two of my favorite charms mark of pride and dashmaster, and the mantis lords are probably my favorite boss (sisters of battle included)
But then- we have the actual mushroom part of fungal wastes and I have never had a good experience with it. From the large amount of acid pools when I don’t have the tear, to the double damage jackass mushrooms that are always just out of range, it’s all so annoying.
#1 BILLBOARD RECORD RIGHT HERE🗣️🗣️🗣️

The opening bit sounds strangely similar to Eleanor rigby.
The melody sounds extremely familiar. It sounds like the first few notes of ballad of the goddess from Skyward sword: ruclips.net/video/Cdz8bhOFo0s/видео.html Just me?

Honstely this should’ve been the theme for green path who else agrees?
I don’t agree, green path feels like a beautiful, overgrown labyrinth while this song feels slow, kind of stupid- like the sentient mushrooms everywhere
@@T0B3573R I disagree. Green path seems peaceful while fungus wastes has mushrooms blowing up every where mush rooms rolling at you. This song is really peaceful while fungus wastes are really not
