  • In this craft beer video, we're tasting four tripels, two from the United States and two from Belgium. Our friend wanted to bring a Belgian Tripel to a wedding so we brewed one up and tasted these tripels during that brew day. Check out our Belgian Tripel brewing video if you haven't, the beer turned out great and everyone at the wedding loved the beer. All of these tripels are bottle conditioned and unique in their own way. Besides talking about how the tripels taste, we also talk about the type of glass that a Belgian Tripel is traditionally drunk in. The first tripel we taste is the Westmalle Tripel which is brewed by Trappist monks in Belgium. Westmalle was the first to brew a tripel and their beverage can be considered the gold standard for the Belgian Tripel style. The second tripel we taste is the New Belgium Trippel which is Ross' favorite Tripel (he works for New Belgium). The third tripel we taste is a Dulle Teve (Mad Bitch) Tripel which is brewed in Belgium. Our friend at the local bottle shop recommended this one to us. The last tripel we taste is the Allagash Tripel. Allagash has become an extremely well-known brewery and is most famous for their Allagash White beer. Check out the resources below for our tripel brew day, brewing equipment, and an interesting article about the history of beer that talks about how the practice of brewing spread from the old world to the new world.
