They say Tepito is the most dangerous neighbourhood in Mexico city, so me and a few lads from the hostel headed there to find out for ourselves.

It is a myth when they say that it is very dangerous if it were true no one would be in the streets and they would not be selling even it is safer than a school in the United States it is a place without gunshots, greetings and wellcome to mexico.
It is not a cactus, it is actually the fruit of a nopal known as prickly pear 21:46 in mexico is known as tuna, a variant of cacti and not all of them are called cacti or cactus, all varieties have different names also nopal is very good against diabetes

Hell yeah, man! Those guy’s freestyling were awesome. As always, cool to take a look at the real places in a city and get a sense for the spots tourists arent shown. They end up being the best.
The whole thing was a freestyle which is insane, they're the Mexican version of Harry mack! I effing love exploring!!

That cactus is called a Prickly Pear in English and a Tuna in Spanish, there is green ones, red ones, honey green ones, orange green ones.. they are so juicy and they are the fruit of the Cactus/Nopal Flower. It's the same Nopal you eat in Chile and in Salads in Mexico. The Nopal is good source of water when there is no water, it helps you with Diabetes. It's a power food.

Tepito lost many of its old 150 year vintage building during the 1985 earthquake. It became then very dangerous but it is now catching up with tourists. I’m glad you went there. BTW, I went there before the COVID thing and what a great place it is now. I even found some Swedish tourists there!

Why is it that so many videos are looking for danger in CDMX? I am an American who lives there and I’ve never seen anything too crazy. It’s a city of 22 million and it’s much much safer than any other major city that I’ve ever been.

I miss Mexico city. I was there a few times. It felt quite different- air was rough. People were cool. Food was good. I was in Polanco which is a wealthy part of town. But the socalo was filled with vendors. I saw the pyramids that was interesting. Cab drivers are cool too.

Realmente TEPITO se está convirtiendo en un lugar atractivo para el turismo extremo, pero si es peligroso, claro no lo es tanto como lo fue hace 10 o 20 años pero en ese lugar definitivamente existe la probabilidad de ser víctimas de robo

When I went to mexico city last year, my hostel's guide told everyone to stay away from Tepito. He told me two stories about his two visits there. The first time he visited, he went with a friend who bought some water. His friend suddenly collapsed and they found out the water was drugged. The second time another friend of his who was visting asked him to meet her there. When he got there he found her completely beat up. Apparently some guys started talking to her and didn't take kindly to being turned down.
This is especially true if you stick out (foreigner) and aren't fluent in spanish.

I was born in Mexico City, I lived there for 27 years, I moved to Florida and I been here since then, I know that area well, I got robbed 1 time in Tepito very dangerous barrio, you guys should be very careful where you going, city is beautiful, colorful, full of life and activities, but for foreigners must watch where you are going, you should be accompanied by a local/someone that lives there and knows the area well (even if you pay something to the local guide is safer) the bold guy with the white shirt looks like an israeli citizen that appeared at the AE parking wars TV show (just curious data)
guys I must commend you for the audacity to walk in these barrios taking a chance to be robbed or kidnapped, in Mexico City cops are corrupt NOT all of them but certainly many of them I know that 1st hand, good video my friend.

Madero to try the tacos de machitos and torta de cecina or torta de milaneza, fresh fruit waters I'm sure you'll like it, regards

Here to say that tepito no es el lugar más peligroso de la cdmx (metro area), en algunas zonas de Ecatepec no te pasaría esto (si no algo peor). Any neighborhoods towards the middle of the city will be safer regardless of rep

I’m 40 years old, I was born and raised in Mexico City, and there’s no way I would put a foot near the Tepito area. That place is awful and terrible things happen all the time.
If you are a tourist, just stay away from there, is not worth it.

@@yazbechtsanchez5032 I just want that tourists have a great experience when visiting Mexico. Again, maybe I’m just an ignorant local, but I wouldn’t visit some areas of my own city because I know they are dangerous.
Being overconfident could lead to a bitter experience when visiting any country.
I like how you said it as is. I see a lot of vlogs online going to sketchy areas and just because nothing happened to the people in that one video, it doesn't mean it's entirely safe if locals already mention about safety issues. I think tourists may be more at risks in sketchy places mainly because people can already tell you're not from the area. If I ever visit Mexico City, I don't plan on visiting this place.
Been to Tepito took the metro, by myself to the open air market, even a bar for a drink, did not fear anything because no one made me feel in fear, and I'm an Anglo American, your opening photo, the man with the tattoos, looks more like an American gang banger then a Mexican in Mexico, live in Tijuana 47 years, don’t see a bunch of gangbangers in Mexico, that’s in gangland U.S.A., lots of U.S. cities are more dangerous then Mexico city

I have a question. Is it true that the reason you can travel in Mexico and Cuba is you made enough money by working when you are in 20s? How could you get money for travelling? I think if you don't work like 9 to 5, you won't be able to get money for travelling. I want to know how to travel foreign countries even though you don't work like 9 to 5?
I have a business in England selling things online. So when i'm in England i run my business and save up money and then go to travel.
I was travelling for the last 3 months making videos in Mexico, cuba and morocco. Now i'm in England for 4 months saving money to go on a another trip. I spend all my money on travelling and making youtube videos.

It is really dangerous man! I know, i went there and some kid shot me in the head with an airsoft rifle. I would wear some glasses. And make sure you ask permission before filming, some people get pissed and want you to delete everything.

I was staying in a hostel. When i was in Cancun i stayed in a hotel and met nobody so i decided to stay in a hostel when i was in the city. it's always a great way to meet people!!

@@whereisdan No one of the “companeiros” on our SW USA road trip.... we ran out of food spending days on a river near Sedona Arizona... We had lots of cactus about and we knew they were edible that is alll. we steamed them whole. just when we were about to eat and noticed the micro bristles remaing after picking the thorns. This mate immediately chewed into the frond. he was miserable for at 4 days before subsided a degree.
