It appears the Commonwealth is spending more time defending all the people in the house and the defense team is presenting the case. I’ve never seen a trial like this.
Yeah I had the same impression. They kinda forget to proof their case they act like they're the defends for the Alberts

Makes no sense that Jenn McCabe would run in to the house after the first responders got there but didn’t run in as soon as she found JO in the snow to get her police officer brother in law to help immediately.

I think you’re looking for confirmation of a coverup but absolutely nothing has suggested that there was a fight in that house, absolutely nothing. And what the defense has been saying for over a year, that there was feud over Colin Albert walking over John Okeefe’s lawn was false, along with the picture of the Albert’s joking about being on his lawn in the photo being a serious issue was also proven false. The dog, that the defense wanted us to believe was “rehomed” aka killed so it couldn’t be used as evidence was proven false also.

The defense hasn't presented their case yet. They're job isn't to give the prosecution another way that JOK could've been killed. It's to put doubt in the prosecutions case.... which let's be honest, that's not going to be hard.
City/town government officials and leaders will do a LOT to PROTECT the prominent and wealthy in their community.
@@Steve-qn8gn We haven't seen the defense's case yet. It's been mostly responding to the prosecutor's case via cross examination so far, so the defense hasn't had much room to present evidence like its own expert testimonies or eyewitness accounts.
We only have the word of the Alberts so far on that being a joke. We don't know how other people saw it, especially O'Keef, and if it was ever said for them to stop it. We also don't know if despite the dog still being alive if the defense team was told where she was or if their attempts to examine the dog were cooperated with.
Yeah, the defense hasn't given hard hitting evidence or a compelling motive yet. But that doesn't mean they can't. It's also not their case to prove. Their case is reasonable doubt that Karen Reed did it. So far, they've done pretty great at that, especially considering that the prosecution hasn't given any compelling evidence themselves so far.
@@amandamosteller1371 the defense is making their case. They had all these same witnesses in their list. Their leaking of things like Chloe the dog being killed so it couldn’t be used as evidence is 100% false now. My mind is changing, but I don’t think anything was intentional in Karen Reads part.
How can anyone have a fair trial if the judges are for the prosecution side. The injustice of it all. Her husband goes all the way to NY for a cop funeral, but he never came out of his house to help 1st responders. Weird!

I am convinced Karen Reed did not run John Okeefe down. The longer this takes to unfold the more curious I become who did beat him to a pulp and why. Heartbreaking that the family may never know because of the corruption involved with the investigation

Speak the truth. I believe they are protecting Colin. His father had such a strong reaction when defense asked about Colin. It's then the case made sense. And I have no dog in the fight. Only truth.

Right? I love when I find pictures of anyone from this family and maybe area, middle finger seems to be the new peace sign for photos. Not sure if that's a Canton or Mass thing. I know some people from Mass so I can see the type but it really makes me pause and blink a lot, lol.

I've heard some did but checked their footage and saw nothing or footage was missing. Now we've heard library footage is missing from a certain time. So either neighbors never saw anything cuz a car accident didn't happen or they said nothing was there. I meant there has to be something -either a car hitting him, or him stumbling and falling, or someone dumping his body, or him getting hit by a snow plow, or a dog attacking him? Any other possibility? Unless the snow and wind made seeing anything impossible, but wouldn't you still turn that footage over to police or lawyers or whatever? Note to self, save and back up any security footage if anything happens in the area the footage could have a visual of.
Who's on trial here, Karen or the Alberts? We're at the end of week 2 and I feel like we've heard more from the Commonwealth about the Alberts and how they are innocent than the crime Karen allegedly committed or about the victim. I get that the Commonwealth is trying to head off the defense, but they should have at least told us there theory first. I mean, we still haven't heard when John was officially declared dead, and his death is why we're here.
I think all that will come up at the end with Proctor. Trials are a narrative with a climax or anti climax at the end. So IMHO best is still to come and it's good already.
The only things I'm looking forward to are the medical reports, Proctor, and the defense's case. I need some hard facts and a clarification on alleged misconduct on Proctor's end. Less family members.

No one has to proclaim the Alberts’ innocence. As you said, they are not on trial, Karen Read is.
Not only is the Court trying the Albert family, most of the comments seem to think that the Albert family is on trial!!
This, truly is a peculiar way of determining what part, if any, Karen Read had in the death of her boyfriend.
I Suffer from migraines and yes it is suffering. Why did she have a problem with that specific word? I just don't believe any of these people at all.

I have migraines, but "suffering" is for people who are dying of cancer, lost a child, or are relentlessly hounded and intimidated by a criminal and his mindless followers in an attempt to smear their decades-long good reputations and standing in the community, including those serving as police officers, firefighters, EMTs, lunch ladies, local business owners, and the military.
Suffering: the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship.
It doesn’t have to be cancer or war. I’ve been on the ground too weak to stand after throwing up relentlessly with pain pounding my skull. It’s suffering! But a small quibble considering all the other big issues. I stand in defense of migraine sufferers is all.
If they can hear the ambulance in the courtroom, the Albert’s could hear the sirens IN THEIR HOME THAT DAY
First responders said they went to the scene with lights no sirens since no one was on the roads.

If OJO was struck down by KR around 12:30 AM since she was home by 12:41AM, there would have been grass, not snow, under OJO. There was no bare grass anywhere on that property! I heard today John lost 3 PINTS of blood! You don’t bleed when your heart stops beating. All I saw was a bit of blood on top of snow. John wasn’t under a snowdrift. Did he have frostbite?
All those people left party, like 11?, left and no one saw JO lying on the lawn? Neither did the snow plow driver. That’s because he wasn’t there!

Ive had a German shepherd and other dogs over my years and they've all alerted me when ppl have been outside let alone ppl, police EMTs firefighters. Seriously how can they keep saying they were asleep

The defense opening was one of the best I've ever heard. Opening line... Karen was framed. Next, telling the jury to "wait for us". Letting the jury know they would be coming with a real defense. The prosecution has done nothing to counter that.

@@Seasheasells I was surprised to hear Brian claim he didn't know Proctor, but I can't remember where/when I've heard testimony that they know each other. All of the Alberts and their tangled web of in-laws in addition to the multiple grand juries and I'm not remember all the connections. Maybe someone can chime in with court docs or references to things that have already transpired at hearings?

They went forward with the case to clear their buddies, not to convict Karen Read.

My theory - They put him out on the grass because they thought he'd come round and get up & leave... McNabb was worried, that's why she googled 'Hos long to die in the cold/snow because she was already thinking 'what if he doesn't just get up' ... they didn't anticipate him laying there til he was near death!
Very good theory. Makes sense unlike the judge saying TODAY, “we are gonna speed things up now, no more repetitive testimony” seriously? Days before the defense will start their case in chief she’s saying hurry up, after all the repetitive nonsense she has allowed. This judge is as corrupt as the Alberts.
But why would they do that? If he lived he could testify against them!
Correct. And I think colin initially got in a tussle with him... Then maybe other adult or adults jumped in to assist colin because of family ties ect.... And then the dog also jumps in and bites the arm.... And possibly things got out of hand and they used something to hit him over his head.... Knocking him out cold... Or maybe as an attempt to get the dog away from attacking him John hits or kicks the dog..... Maybe causing the dog to cry and run off... And that sends the wife into a fury... As we could see on stand today she got very pissy at the mention of the dog.. And how she had to rehome him.... So I'd imagine if john did hit or kick the dog... Even in an attempt to defend himself of a dog attack... She'd still get very angry at the sight of someone "hurting" her dog... And maybe her husband or others saw how mad she got and snapped and attacked John in retaliation.... Because for many dogs are just like family.... And I def could see someone killing a guy if they hit or kicked the family dog. Even if that dog started the attack.....
I'm thinking something similar.....they sparred with John (Chloe was attacking his arm) and they smashed his skull bad and John laid unconscious on the basement floor. Jen McCabe does a Google search to find out how long it takes for someone to die in the cold. That search happened @ 2:40am. At that same time frame, the town plow drives by the house plowing and says under oath that he did NOT see over 6 foot tall John on the front lawn. He's still in the basement. The Alberts/McCabes decide before the plow comes down the street again to plow to put unconscious John on the front lawn to die from exposure. He does. The plow guy returns within a couple of hours and now he sees a Ford EDGE parked on the street in front of the Albert's house. The plow guy has to drive far around that car because the actual plow is wider than the plow truck itself, and that Ford EDGE is parked exactly where John's body was found. They put the car there purposely to keep the plow guy from seeing John.
Hopefully the plow driver has video reference
I found the idea that Jen McCabe bursting into the bedroom of not only a COP but a former member of the MILITARY was utterly ridiculous. You're going to risk waking a cop, former marine (?) up from a supposed dead sleep & aren't scared you'd be met with violence?
My BIL & sister were both medics in the military, my BIL who has passed, could not be surprised from sleep (their kids had accidentally done it once & thankfully they were fine but my BIL woke up like he was being attacked). I cannot believe that Albert wouldn't have reacted similarly to something his wife & him both testified had NEVER happened before with her sister bursting into the room.
That said, in the video, she looks like she is sauntering pretty unhurriedly into the house. Certainly not in a way that would suggest she ran upstairs to burst into their room. Unless we're supposed to believe that once she got into the house she started acting more upset/hysterical enough to presumably run up stairs & "burst into" their room.
SO much of this case just does not make sense.
We've heard that one of O'Keefe's shows was missing but apparently so is his belt (that you can see he's wearing in one of the bar videos) and has NEVER been found? 🤔
I mean, this is a law enforcement family that leaves their door open-overnight even!🤷♀️
I just “got” a detail.......my conjecture is....they tried to pick him up by his leather belt, and it ripped.....therefore - no belt found.....(evidence) 🤔

I thought the exact same thing. She bursts into their room as they lay sleeping. Idk that all law enforcement sleeps with a gun next to their bed but I wouldn’t want to find out. She knew they were awake. None of them slept. They were all in a panic waiting for him to be found and it happened sooner than they expected

I knew nothing about this case when it started. The CW has convinced me of only three things 1) the victim is dead, 2) it was snowing and cold, 3) the police were at minimum negligent with the investigation.

Thank you, Norfolk County D.A. Morrissey, A.D.A. Lally, and Judge Cannone for bringing to trial/agreeing to hear the Karen Read/John O’Keefe case, for, unintentionally, I can only imagine, laying bare just how laughable the Massachusetts and Boston-area legal systems are, and for giving everyone front row seats to the pre-production of what is sure to be a hit movie. Kudos to Karen Read (and her father, I assume) for hiring lawyers who are too smart to be part of the system. And Damon, Affleck or Wahlberg, if you're out there, let me know if you need someone to play one of the witnesses. So fah, frickin’ priceless, every one.
I'm tired of this judge, I'm tired of everyone "not recalling" anything that makes them look bad or just not good, I'm tired. This is a joke of a trial and we're on witness 24 and still NOTHING has been proven showing Karen did anything wrong 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I am not an Adian Kearney fan, but this is them trying to just keep Aidan Kearney out of the room; the case will be dismissed. It’s the Albert’s flexing their muscles to send a message to the citizens of the town. But we knew that the Judge would rule this way-she’s compromised. This will be likely appealed because another judge already ruled the stay away order was no good.
Moving on, to me, the commonwealth Lally, is so bad at orating that he loses my attention and I find myself wool gathering until the defense begins because they can use inflection and question without the monotone “if any” constantly. If I, who love following testimony, am having trouble following the commonwealth-how much is boredom affecting the jury?
Absolutely agree. I've read some of Kearney's stuff and he goes too far, in my opinion, but there is definitely that type of person who gets their name known or is more bombastic and didn't see an issue with repeatedly calling these ppl and giving out some of their info. Personally, I think your words and actions hold more weight when you keep everything above board, but it definitely doesn't get the eyes on it as much as a Livestream show where a relative is telling at you on the phone and swearing. The raiding of his house and arresting him for what... Harassment and doxing? Was too much and really doesn't help the Canton cops look like they are on the right side here. And I understand how after that happens to a person they care less about hurting feelings and really want to get this exposed.
I really liked hearing Peter's take on it knowing nothing of the history cuz his points are very valid, if media can be intimidated or anyone and forced out of the courtroom cuz certain ppl who know certain ppl don't like what they have to say that is a very bad precedent. But now those witnesses cannot use turtle boy as an excuse why they memory was affected cuz they couldn't see him.

I really hate saying bad things about a judge but this isn't the only time I've felt she hasn't been ruling fairly for the defense. Like what's wrong with asking what a witness saw with her own two eyes?........... Not to mention when it's about something that is absolutely relevant to the overall defense strategy.

1:21:18 There was a bunch of cops ACROSS THE STREET from my house once and literally all the neighbors were outside being looky-lous. I can't imagine for one second that if there was a dead body in YOUR front yard, you wouldn't AT MINIMUM open the door and look out to see what was going on. That seriously baffles me!
This journalist already spent 60 days in jail protecting his sources on this case, and the witness intimidation they refer to was him asking questions about times. Super shady.
I think HIggins and John got into things and it became violent. I don't think Karen hit him.
It also could’ve been John and Collin had words and then people stepped in. It’s extremely concerning how they are protecting and distancing Collin from everything!

RE: No one wakng up - a cop and a mother slept through All of the lights, screams, commotion out front. A Mom whose kids could be hurt. A cop whose nejghbors could be hurt or being robbed or . . . Come on!
But everyone on the street slept through it. First responders said none of the neighbors came out either, and their cars were as much in front of the neighbors to the side and across the street as they were in front of the Albert’s.

I was on the fence but now I'm convinced it's a cover up. Horrible investigation, snarky & defensive witnesses, obvious lies, convenient forgetfulness, nothing yet that PROVES she did it. This is so unfair to Officer Okeefe's family and Karen Read. The prosecution should be ashamed that they are wasting everyone's time and money on this 💩 show!
I dunno, i would also be snarky and defensive if someone killed their boyfriend in my front yard, called me to help them find them, said “I hit him” multiple times on scene, then made our lives a living hell by propagating a lie that our family did it and covered it up. I’m not saying that’s what happened, just that if Karen killed John, then these people have a right to be pissed beyond belief right now

I mean it's pretty damning to have footage of her car with the tail light intact after she dropped him off (vid is actually on youtube) and the tail light pieces were only found when the car was in Michael Proctor's possession (who was the lead investigator and knows all the Alberts very well and is under FBI investigation). O'Keefe's arm had injuries consisting of scratch marks and such and doesn't look like a vehicle hit him. No injuries to his stomach. Just looked like he was beat up. His shoe was missing. None of the party goers saw him on the lawn and someone inside the house searched 'how long to die in the cold'. Like what the hell? How are we supposed to believe any of these witnesses that outright lie on the stand when they all TOOK an OATH to tell the TRUTH and nothing but the truth??
We're supposed to believe she killed her boyfriend because a bunch of liars said she did? That she said those things but none of what she said was recorded/written down anywhere? That one of those officers kept changing his testimony about what she said and never wrote anything of what she said the day she said it? Yeah, none of them are credible and I find it hard to believe anyone can believe the prosecution's case when they haven't shown a lick of evidence to prove she did what they said she did. I mean, the investigation is shoddy. Collecting blood in solo cups from the neighbors? How do they know where those cups had been? Then leaving them in an open paper shopping bag right next to a car? Uh huh. This is your prosecutor team/state investigation.

What truly happened is John and Karen were invited over to the Alberts. Karen did not want to go inside because Higgins was there. Once John was inside, there was some ball busting between O'Keefe, Higgins and Colin Albert. What was playful jokes and maybe some rough housing turned deadly. Colin Albert thought he could take O'Keefe in a wrestling match but O'Keefe roughed him up. This upset Brian Albert and he jumped in and starting beating on O'Keefe. Higgins also jumped in. The family dog started biting johns arm during this. O'Keefe became unconscious. Brian Albert knew this was going to cause issues so Albert and Higgins dragged him outside. Colin Albert ran home to make it seem like he was never there. John O'Keefe eventually died in the snow. There was some animosity between John and the Alberts. Just because Chris Albert said he did not have a problem with John as a neighbor does not mean he did not hold resentment over Colin being yelled at by John.

Chris Albert says it was a joke and the nickname lines up with that and if there were bad blood between JOand Alberts why would they have them watch his house while he was gone? Does not line up
It’s pretty close to the narrative I’ve created in my head. It’s weird that we are all creating a narrative to make all of the pieces fit together when the prosecution should have created a narrative that laid out the whole case.
A trial is very similar to a puzzle. The prosecution shows you the picture on the box. Then gives you the pieces to start putting the puzzle together. They explain each piece and why it goes where. And in the end hopefully it all comes together and looks like the picture on the front of the box.
This case looks like a daycare puzzle table at the end of a hectic day. Torn boxes and jumbled puzzle pieces are scattered all over the place. Nothing makes sense.

I do not think Karen Read will testify. I don’t see a need for her to do that. All they really have against her is saying I hit him did I hit him? I don’t know if I hit him, those people that heard those things may have misunderstood, probably misunderstood. I think the cops and everybody in the house, and that was at the restaurants have told so many lies it put lots of doubt on everything they say. I don’t think there’s anything that Karen can contribute to her case by testifying.

I find it odd that Brian Albert did not have cameras and security at his home and. And allowing his doors to be left unlocked, even if I had five kids? And the people that lived across the street and over a little bit, the people they got the red “evidence” Solo cups from, they had cameras, but they were not working at that time. L O L. I really do just think it unbelievable that a cop would allow his home to be so vulnerable. But on the other hand, maybe he’s been such a bad ass cop that he knows no one has the nerve to rob his house. My sister used to get really irritated at me when I would visit them. They didn’t lock their doors when they came in the house. I never understood. her excuse was well with you know, like Brian Albert, we’ve got two kids and you know we can’t make them lock the doors. I am single, and I’ll automatically lock my door every time I come in. When I got married, that drove my husband crazy, because whenever for example with bringing in groceries, and bringing a sack and with my other hand close, and automatically locked the door. Poor darling to wait five seconds for me to come back to the door and unlock it. But he was insanely jealous and I think he thought I was doing all kind of funny stuff with my body without him. yeah, long story divorced him thankfully.

I believed the first couple, too, the nurse and her husband Michael, who was O'Keefe's best friend and also the other friend Kurt that was at the first bar for a hour, though his testimony seemed a pointless waste of time, since they didn't followup with his wife, who was the other person with Karen and Jen who found John in the snow.
Albert is not on trial. Karen Read is.

Sadly, I think his family have drunk the "Karen did it" koolaid. Theres this idea by outsiders that police, fire, etc. are a "brotherhood" and John's "brothers" would never have harmed him. The "brotherhood" as outsiders see it is a myth. Yes, theres a general us versus the public camradey, but inside that, there's cliques, factions, and dirty politics. They would absolutely cover up an accidental killing of "one of their own" if it was in their best interest. And I bet if you asked the other Canton officers privately, you'd get a pretty accurate theory on what actually happened.
Well we all know it wasn't at 5am because her tail light wasn't broken on cam when she was leaving to find John. However, the state says she hit him much earlier and said her tail light was broken.. 🤦🏽 cops broke it and planted the tail lights at the unsecured crime scene

This house must have been on an acre t not see him when people left. Makes no sense he was there and no one saw him. They should be charged with something. Maybe he slipped instead of being hit. He was drunk to go immediately to he was not hit. Or maybe someone else hit him.

German Shepard are very protective. We had one when I was a kid. If anyone looked like they were going to hurt us he would grab the other person’s arm. He wouldn’t bite but just hold it so they couldn’t hit us.
The truth of the matter is that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has not got a solid case. I dare say that they don’t know when or how John O’Keefe was, or was not hit by a vehicle. It may not even have happened that way. They had not presented Cohesive timeline, or any other evidence that had been hit by any vehicle, of any kind. Driven by any person. I am an 81 year old Grandma, or almost 81, but have to admit that this case makes me want to swear……… loudly. The longer it goes on the worse it gets. I am beginning to think that the Commonwealth should not have even brought this case to trial. So far, all it has accomplished it to show the incompetence of the police department, and the incestuous relationships among certain groups of people. Good golly, Miss Molly.
I believe that men are territorial and would normally fly out of bed, throw on clothes and get out into the yard to see what was happening. Even moreso a First Responder. Gavin Fish channel/ Retired DEA Agent Sean Mc Donough on why Karen is innocent. Great info on an informant’s account.

I grew up with a GSD, my grandfather had one, my uncle had 2 & my daughter currently has one. It is impossible to believe that a GSD was not barking its head off during that morning! They have a very deep & persistent bark, as well as whining when distressed. They are "talkers." I can't believe they had Chloe for 6 years & just got rid of her all of a sudden. It's disgraceful. The dog didn't suddenly bite a person. She was fighting with another dog & that dogs owner tried to intervene & was bitten.
We know the didn’t care about Chloe. They just let her out to run and do her business and obviously did nothing to attend to a reactive dog. Calling her “it” really burned me.
This was a trained K9 retired dog. They are trained to bite an assailant's arm to take down the attacker. The victim had a dog bite on his arm. It was remarked on in an FBI review of the autopsy. Something happened in that house to trigger the dog.
I missed the first 3 days of trial, but did listen to the defense's opening statements earlier today, and I believe the defense.
I heard it through the grapevine that the judges brother or father, can't recall which one, was the lawyer for Chris Albert back in the 90s when Chris Albert was involved in a hit and run where the person he hit had died from his injuries. Surprisingly charges were minimal, no time served. I believe he had been drinking too.
I do need to verify this is a fact However this is what is going around... I would not be surprised..

It’s hard to imagine an argument against judge bev being biased towards the commonwealth. It’s so blatantly obvious and I hope the jury sees it.
The problem with the walking testimony is that the average person walks 3 miles per hour. So a half mile is a 10 minute walk. Unless everyone in Boston is a speed walker, physics says otherwise.

Nicole specifically said she never " spoke" to her sister that morning. That doesn't mean she didn't pick up the call and "listen" to what was being said on the other end...instructions, heads up...etc.
Been watching through these recaps and i think I've figured out which defense attorney will cross. Ms. Little does the ones whose testimony is fairly straight forward, not very damaging, not an exhaustive cross. Jackson handles the ones they expect much much push back and a fight - his snark will not be taken with by the jury who is already skeptical of certain witnesses. I think he will handle Proctor, if he testifies. Yanetti's charm and slow build they use for those witnesses who have stuff they will fight but might work to charm and if he doesn't charm them, he will seem more likeable/charming for the jury to perceive so if the witness fights him they will look even worse for fighting this polite friendly guy.
I love seeing the different styles. Makes me think of older attorney from Depp v Heard trial (can't believe I'm blanking on his name!) who did not follow Cross exam "rules" at all when crossing expert witnesses, but he disarmed them so much or seemed so bumbling that the experts got over confident and then tripped themselves up. He did it over and over and over and they never saw it coming. After the 2nd or 3rd witness hearing the LawTube lawyers being so annoyed with him doing it "wrong" i was like no, he's doing it on purpose or maybe it's just his style but it works so well so they used him there.
