UPDATES: As of the latest hearing today, June 12th, a judge ruled that Kouri will remain behind bars while she awaits her trial. In this hearing, Eric’s sister, Amy, gave a powerful victim impact statement, ”We have scarcely gone a day without finding out some new allegations or evidence regarding something Kouri appears to have maliciously done to attack and undermine my brother, his three little boys and our family," she said. A trial date has not been set. Since recording, Kouri’s google searches have been uncovered and it points even more to her guilt. She looked up things like “can you overdose on fentanyl” and “signs of being under federal investigation.” These are just two of many incriminating searches. She was in the same Facebook group for grieving widows I'm in, we were ALL in shock... Unbelievable.. especially for her children. As a widow myself, i cant even imagine.
I'm so sorry for your loss ... I can't imagine how you and the other widows must have felt learning the truth. It must have been super insulting. 😪 some people are just evil. 😢
Absolutely no judgement, just for anyone who needs to hear this: you do not have to stay in an unhappy or unhealthy relationship for the sake of your children. Children will ultimately benefit from their parents separating as opposed to staying together and being miserable or toxic ❤
@@stephanieayotte865 always makes me think of the guy who posted on Reddit wanting to divorce his wife bc she was cheating and she killed their children and stabbed herself when she found out.
Imagine depriving your own kids the warm hugs and love of their lovely father, who would give them as much kisses and love they want😢😢 that woman is beyond evil
How the hell she thought she would get away with her husband’s murder? The deleted messages, the life insurance, the failed attempts of killing him before, the PARTY on the very next day of his passing... Oh my God! How stupid can you be?! This woman is EVIL and stupid.
Full-on narcissist. They have no no conscious, empathy, or the ability to introspect. They believe they're the smartest people in the room and live in an alternate reality. Sad for the lives she up-ended.
The worst thing about all this is she robbed her own children of their dad and now they don’t have a mom either. Even if she hated her husband how could she break her own kids hearts like that. So sad for them
She shouldn’t feel guilty and I hope she doesn’t! They built a whole family together, who would’ve guessed that woman would turn out to be such a monster?!
it's infuriating because when my dad passed away, i was nine years old and children's books discussing death really helped me understand and process what happened since i was so young. that book really could've been something for kids like me since most of the books i read were mostly discussing death, not grief.
i lost my father when i was a toddler. the grief my mother, as well as the rest of our family, experienced was/is unexplainably horrendous. i can remember reading dozens of children’s books that discussed death, grieving, etc. this women had committed an atrocious act of violence, narcissism & betrayal. i pray her children & all children who read her energetically tainted books find peace and comfort.
She is honestly crazy. Killing Eric, throwing a party, suing Eric’s sister, writing a grief book and the pain she brought to her children. Also I feel for the coworker she look distraught 😔
It’s really mind-boggling! You’d think after killing her husband in such an obvious way that she’d keep her head down for a few years instead of going out of her way to draw attention and scrutiny.
I agree..the coworker encouraged Eric to ask Kouri out. I can imagine she’s thinking “what did I do?” Not her fault of course but guilty feelings are powerful and no doubt Kouri had her snowed too 😢
As Kendall said "This woman is pure evil." She deserves life without parole. Those 3 little boys now have to live life without their Dad and without their Mom. My heart hurts for the 3 boys and the rest of the Richins family 😢
I got Chris Watts vibes when you showed the news station book interview. She was trying so hard not to smile. She wasn’t grieving at all, especially since she had a party the day after his death. But, she knows they don’t know that and thinks she’s getting away with her charade. They call that duper’s delight. Disgusting. She had an amazing life, a husband that loved her, and beautiful children.
Oh no no, there's thousands of tiny signs, just so happens they put extra work on waving them and people don't really try to look into it, this why gaslighting works, why there's so many crappy relationships and why fandoms are always toxic at some point, like far politics
normally tho the worst people aren't psychopaths but those who can ignore morals like a soci/psychopath literally cannot grasp morals or having what most people call a conscience the thing with people who can ignore their conscience is they know what they are doing is danm well evil which to me makes it worse
I'm relieved to hear you say that the party-goers had no idea Eric had died. I had wondered why anyone would go to Kouri"s party the day after her husband passed so tragically.
If I was invited to a such party knowing the death I’d literally be aware it was a murder and would avoid the party but if somehow I didn’t know it but heard it at the party at least I’d avoid the punch bowl like plague
Dude, if your spouse ever changes your life insurance policy without you knowing, you leave ASAP. Get a hotel. Sleep on a friend's couch. There's no motive for a person to do that without your permission unless they're murdering you.
Is this an American thing? Because I'm pretty sure my spouse would never be able to change my policies? I have to do that myself unless court decides otherwise
@@marythewinter I'm really not sure. Maybe state law within America. My policy and my spouse's policy are through our work. I don't believe either could be changed by anyone but the individual who the policy covers. That said, I've never asked.
Eric didn’t leave because he needed to get his ducks in a row so as to guarantee he had full custody. No way someone like Eric would leave his boys with her and hope for the best. He was getting ready to go to war and he needed to know they would stay with him. It’s the only thing that makes sense. He didn’t care about himself, his boys were his number 1 priority. Thank god he could count on his family.
@@Dolphinboi the point is that he may not have trusted that the courts would keep his children away from her 24/7 during the process of leaving, so instead he died protecting them from living with her alone, ultimately leaving them in his sister's care. That's the theory .
@@markdarcy5256 considering they were minors, he most likely knew his wife (their mother) would have some sort of possibility to gain from it going to his sons while they’re still children
@@markdarcy5256don't leave it to your minor children, the other parents can get their hands on it WAY to easily. Leaving it to his sister was smart because he can fully trust her.
The fact that he was a committed dad combined with the fact that he was already in touch with divorce and estate lawyers tells me he *was* leaving, but wanted his ducks in a row first. Given the description of Kouri, I would not be surprised if he was concerned about the risk of parental alienation if he left, and needed legal agreements in place right away.
You are literally the only creator that has shared anything about Eric's life, other than he started his very lucrative business right out of HS.. Thank you for that 💕
Getting views, likes and YT money..... of the back of someone's murder, hmm 🤔 She's exactly the same as all the other greedy American Pig's. Can't ya'll tell???? 🙄
She’s very respectful, but I heard a couple other RUclipsrs talk about what a great dad he was & how he coached all their teams, took them hunting & was overall very involved. Can’t imagine what the kids are gonna go through, realizing their mom is the reason they lost such an amazing parent.
She didn't even write the book, she used an online ghost writing service. She even left a review on the website. Just shows how much more disconnected she is from it and how it was just purely to make money.
Now her kids are going to need a book to help them deal with mom killing dad, and other kids are going to need a book to help them deal with this grief book that was written by a murderer. Way to spread the horror and sadness around, Kouri. 👍🏽
I know could you imagine? I'm sure families all over burned the book I hope they did how devastating. I thought maybe she did it because he abused her maybe and no one knew but I don't think that's the case.
Thankfully the book sales were immediately halted as soon as the truth came to light and I hope that those that had already purchased the book used it for bonfire kindling. These three boys are going to have to endure years of therapy to come to terms with what a monster their mother is.
@@iammojojojo1646 As much as I'm sure your comment was a joke: yes, there are many, many books with similar titles related to recovering from a childhood with an antisocial or narcissistic mother. Even those books don't quite cover situations like this though.
It must be INCREDIBLY difficult for his sister to have the boys as much as she loves them. I am sure they talk about Mommy and it must be so hard for her to even hear it and answer their questions/ concerns about their Mom when she literally killed her brother!!!
I was thinking the exact same thing… I have a gut feeling Eric’s sister won’t say a bad word about the boys mother, but it must take an enormous amount of self discipline to not bad mouth her. Although, from picking up on what kind of family Eric is from, I think the auntie will put her feelings aside & do what’s right by those little boys. Wishing Eric’s sons & the rest of his family, healing thoughts, I pray they get the justice they deserve, albeit that justice takes the boys mother away from them. I hope, with their extended family & possible therapy the boys will grow up to be just like their dad & learn to have forgiveness for their mother. (Not for her sake), purely for their own healing. RIP Eric ❤
I love how Kendall focuses on and humanizes the victims in such a respectful manner. This is why she's the GOAT and one of the few true crime RUclipsrs I trust.
Her and Stephanie Harlowe are the absolute rulers of the true crime world in my opinion! Kendall always shows respect for the victims and the family and friends of the victims and so does Stephanie. If you haven’t watched her, get on it! You won’t regret it. 👏🏼
She didn't get away w it tho. They called him and he changed it back so at least that happened. Plus it only helped convict get more. In the end she lost
I totally agree, this and wills should be exclusively and only binding with in-person efforts. None of this online business. These documents are far too important to be left to chance that someone finds the login and password. I also don't think people should be able to take out life policies on anyone who isn't present and agreeable to the policy.
We were a part of the same FB group for Children’s book authors, everyone was shocked and astonished when this came out. I remember everyone consoling her and agreeing to help market her children’s book in the group when we first heard her story.
@@haleytruslow7200 this was when she first published it back in March (police charged her in May) so she had just finished publishing it and was trying to market it..and no she hasn’t written any other ones to my knowledge
@@brittnicaitlinso what you meant about "when it first came out" and everyone was consoling her and promised to help market it - you meant it came out that he was murdered but not that it was her? Not that it came out that the police thought she did it? Or was she that convincing about her innocence?
From my understanding, I believe that she is saying that kouri joined the group after the passing of her husband & wrote the book, as a beautiful community they came together to console her during her loss and promised to help promote the book for her and the children but then 2 months later, the TRUTH & homicide came to light and they were all in shock bc she remembered how every one came together to help her during her grieving process & felt bad for her without knowing she was the murderer …

My gut is telling me yes she probably was, I don’t even think she loved her kids. I think she uses everyone around her as pawns to get what she wants. it’s a good thing the judge denied her bail.
I could never live with someone who I think is trying to kill me, I’m sure Eric was so scared but needed to make sure his kids were safe from that psychopath woman he married. Sad story, and always boils down to money. Oh and the book? She really thought she got away with it. Friggin crazy
Kouri sounds like an absolute nightmare. I feel so sad for Eric having to deal with the woman he loved trying to backstab him all the time, and above all for losing his life. I'm so glad he told people the truth and cut her off from any of his money.
Eric was in an emotionally and financially abusive relationship. He loved his wife and she would’ve used that love he had for her and their family to her benefit. My brother is in an abusive relationship and it’s horrible to watch. It’s a statistic that isn’t reported on accurately and isn’t provided enough resources. Eric sounds like an amazing husband, father, brother, son. My thoughts are with his family who must miss him greatly.

Yea, that part kinda confused me, if he was suspicious, why would he eat or drink anything she gave him? I sure as hell would have never accepted any food or drink from her....
I’m sure he was staying until he had all his financial and divorce plans in place. The best thing he did was tell his family that he thought his wife was trying to kill him, and having her written out of his will. It really speaks volumes!
Your cat is amazing on the back 😄 at one point when you’re speaking he is sleeping and when he hears the word fentanyl his ear twitches and next he gets up to a ”loaf potition” and listens to very carefully and he looks suspicious af 😂💖
We had a similar case here in the UK in my hometown, a guy was found tortured to death in his house, wife pretended to be heartbroken, and wrote all over facebook how much she and her children missed him, and then it turns out it was her who had put a hit on him! Absolutely wild.
Honestly, her insights weren’t very insightful though, I felt like her explanations added nothing to the video and often just repeated what we would already know?
@@rinal1315 some of it was similar to the format that Crime Junkie uses where the second host reminds us what to think about throughout the story so not always adding a lot of new information. Personally I appreciated it
My heart goes out to the victim's family and every person affected by this evil woman. I feel so awful for the woman who introduced them and insisted that Eric go through Kouri's line. Its not her fault at all, but I cant imagine the guilt and "what if's" that go through her mind every day.
You always give special thanks to us and the guests you have on the show. I think I can safely say all of us want to thank you! You built a platform to help these families have a louder voice - and you're constantly giving back to the community. We are all so thankful and PROUD of you !!
I wonder if he stayed because he was afraid she might harm his boys if he left without proper preparations. My heart goes out to his sons and his family, it sounds like the prosecution has a very strong case here and I hope for their sake that justice will be served quickly.
That was the reason i stayed with my family. My ex would have killed/tortured them just to get stuff from me or give me pain. Everytime i was away for more then 2 days, my children were crying and telling me that she hurts them. Now everything is fine. Both kids decided to stay with me. She got nothing because she tried to burn the house.
I've already watched everything regarding this case. But if Kendall makes a video, i will rewatch just to hear what she thinks! Thank u for a great episode!! 💕
The good news was that Eric changed his will and the policy owner alerted him. Rest in peace Eric. I just pray for the kids, and that they get compassion around them and are able to get through the trauma with love, support and guidance. They truly are learning how cruel the world is at a young age.... the audacity of the mom killing their dad and trying to push her book? And partying just the day after? Just wow.
She lives right by me. My little brother and her oldest son were friends. We'd both been over to their house many times. I personally met Kouri, Eric and Lisa, same night. I remember how kind they were with me and my brother.
I lost my family last year, one tragedy after another. I still can't talk about it without crying. I am emotionless at times when I need to be to get through the day but not a day goes by that I'm OK. This lady is evil and wreckless.
I’ve watched the interview she did for her book, and the amount of times she said “ you know “ 🙄 She’s pure evil & I hope she gets life without Parole, and never sees her precious boys ever again, because she has hurt them more than enough & it’s a pain they will carry forever 💔
I'm a nurse practitioner but when I was still in school I was working in the ER and I will never forget a pharmacist who came in 911 having a seizure for the first time in his life. I remember taking the bedside report from the medic with his wife standing at his bedside. He kept going in and out of the seizure, which is uncommon. New onset seizures in an adult male is also odd. She kept walking in and out on her cell phone making calls. Over the next few hours the police showed up and took her out of the ER to question her. His family came in and told me that she had been cheating on him and he recently found out about it. They were both compounding pharmacists and she was poisoning him. It was wild. I have no idea what happened after I transferred him to ICU. I can't believe these woman are all around us. 😨 P.S. My brother dated a woman who shot at him for being an hour late from work. I don't even know what to say.😮
I once got a friend together with a girl I was friends with at the time and she got him prosecuted for child abuse over something that was definitely not that. I feel bad for single handedly getting involved with that girl.

I experienced the same. Loved loved true crime but had to take a break from it for a few years when I child was a certain age. Now that he's older I'm not as disturbed and it's kind of like before I had him. Kids definitely change how you feel about things

I feel so much for these kids!! To have worked with their mum to write this book, to have established these routines and connections, only to have that taken away too!! At such an emotional time for these kids, having already lost one parent tragically, to now lose the other parent under such horrible circumstances, the feelings of betrayal are going to be immense!! Imagine being the coworker who acted like the catalyst in this relationship. I know she's not at fault at all but I would feel soo guilty 💀😔 Prayers for Eric's family and love and support for the kids.
I always appreciate how much information you include about the victims of cases like these. Many news outlets that have been reporting on this story have only focused in on the Kouri and while its important to get the crime out there, Eric was a person before this tragedy.
Two ACTUALLY AMAZING Children’s books that already exist to help children (and everyone! Sometimes simple is best.) with loss and grief are: YOU’LL FIND ME by Amanda Rawson Hill and regarding aging and memory loss decline specifically: THE REMEMBER BALLOONS by Jessie Oliveros
The audacity of this woman murder her husband and then try to get rish and famous off of it is disgusting. I can't even begin to imagine how hard this is for Eric's family.
And her face when she says Dad is still here just in a different way…so nonchalantly, no big deal I murdered your father he is still here it is just different now, get over it. She is vile!!

Having suddenly lost my husband almost 5 years ago she makes me so angry. Dealing with grief in my kids is hard. And I cannot fathom how the person who took their father from them has a right to talk about grief in kids.
I would have loved to see her reaction when she found out he reversed the changes she made to his life insurance, wrote her out of the will, made his sister power of attorney, etc… She must’ve felt like a complete fool.
This case is so disturbing and shocking....just insane. I keep trying to imagine Kouri's thought process but I literally can't understand how she could do this. I've been following this case closely so thank you for covering it❤
If you honestly believe your partner is trying to kill you… and I can’t stress this enough… LEAVE. I feel so terrible for Eric and his family. I hope they get the Justice they deserve. Update to say I am not trying to judge Eric in anyway. I completed understand that there are factors we don’t know and I can see why people would want to keep their family together. I have just seen this many times where someone will say they think their partner is trying to kill them and then they stay for “one more holiday” or some other reason and end up dead.
I have no proof but I feel like it’s likely that Eric held off on leaving to ensure his ducks were in a row so to speak. Given his suspicions, he probably wanted to make sure his assets would be protected and the boys would be in his custody, given how nuts he thought Kouri was. So sad that he didn’t get away in time.
One thing I’ve learnt from watching “Dateline TV” that there are signs that your spouse is going to kill you, life insurance, love triangle and second marriages. The second spouse will be the one to kill you or the spouse that’s been married numerous times.. Life Insurance should not be taken out unless the spouse is present. So sad.. 🙏🏾❤️
I have so much respect for you Kendall. The respect, and responsibility you put into these videos is admirable. All podcasters should follow you and husband’s example! ❤
The fact that she purchased $900 is utterly INSANE because you only need literally like $20 worth to kill a full grown man… and I still can’t believe this dumbass actually thought she would get away with ANY of this 🙄
I think this is a very sad situation. We often see women in this type of position, in an abusive relationship they feel like they cannot leave or trying to preserve their family, and it ends up costing their lives. All the things that happened shows that Eric is not only a murder victim, but who know what kinds of manipulation and gaslighting Kouri might have used to convince him to stay or dismiss his worries. It is very sad that it got to the point to cost Eric's life, but it just shows how dangerous some people can be. No one wants to believe their life partner would do something like this. No family should have to go through this. I hope Eric gets the justice he deserves and that his family can grieve his absence. I feel terrible for his kids, losing both parents in the end, I can't imagine how hard it is to process what their mother did.
I’m so sick of greedy spouses harming and un-aliving their partners and not even for A SECOND thinking about their children. Like, all those children are about to lose BOTH parents. I feel so bad for his family, especially the very very young children, R.I.P🥺😇
You’re my new fav to watch! So happy to find you. I used to watch Annie Elise but she’s so full of herself now I cannot anymore! I love that you stick to the story and not try to be all about yourself and what you are wearing or your hair and projecting overtly to the camera 😂 keep keeping it real and don’t change please!
Eric didn't deserve to be poisoned to death. People: you never GET TOGETHER because of kids, or STAY TOGETHER because of kids - kids are resilient, they'll be fine! Better to be safe & sound & working thru w/therapy alone & ALIVE vs. planning a funeral 😐
I have to disagree with that, because..if she treated her husband Eric, an adult, how would she treat her children? Not to be an armchair psychologist, but she seems very narcissistic, so I think it's safe to say that she wouldn't treat them too well. I think, as well as a lot of people, that Eric may have been trying to get things in order with Kouri to keep his sons safe.
Oh my god. This case is so infuriating. The things people do because of greed! I'm so glad Eric didn't leave anything for this horrible woman, but so saddened that his children and family were robbed of such an amazing man. She didn't deserve him.
Not wanting to subject his children to a divorce is one thing, but taking a chance on his wife not actually killing him after he told people she tried, that's another thing. Very unfortunate.

Yes!! Exactly what I thought when I saw her. She should have married Chris instead…. Would have been a case of who would crack first …

This. And also if they start adding policies to your life. Very shady. 😬
Is this an American thing? Because I'm pretty sure my spouse would never be able to change my policies? I have to do that myself unless court decides otherwise
@@marythewinter Indeed Marit, I do not think in my first world countries these policies can be changed without overall permission.
I feel like if I got to the point of "I need to change the life insurance" I need to leave the relationship.

She's exactly the same as all the other greedy American Pig's.
Mr. Ballen did a good video as well, went into details like this video
She didn't even write the book, she used an online ghost writing service. She even left a review on the website. Just shows how much more disconnected she is from it and how it was just purely to make money.

They need intense therapy no book can help with what she did even therapy will be difficult for them 😢😢😢😢
Is there a children's book called "My Mommy's a Psychopath"?
Omg that personal recording of the co worker is heartbreaking. Poor thing. Sending my love to her ❤️
'How Far Away Is Heaven'? An eternity for Kouri! Not just a story book she could write but reality
RIP Eric ❤
Imagine telling them "she killed your dad" i do wonder what she was to them, no way she was a good Mother at all

Totally. What legitimate reason would anyone have , where they would need to do this? Crazy.
I totally agree, this and wills should be exclusively and only binding with in-person efforts. None of this online business. These documents are far too important to be left to chance that someone finds the login and password. I also don't think people should be able to take out life policies on anyone who isn't present and agreeable to the policy.

I have just seen this many times where someone will say they think their partner is trying to kill them and then they stay for “one more holiday” or some other reason and end up dead.
I have no proof but I feel like it’s likely that Eric held off on leaving to ensure his ducks were in a row so to speak.

What a suprise to see and hear from Jennifer Coffindaffer! She's a surviver.I admire her work so much. Thanks for another great episode!❤️
If you're not married to a sociopath, divorce should be the last option. Throw away marriages are a big part of the degradation of our society. IMHO
My heart absolutely breaks for his entire family. I couldn't even begin to imagine what they're going through 😔
