I'm not a rage induced consoomer, but I'm still annoyed that this practice is becoming more and more common in the entertainment industry. At first, it was with videogames that release half-finished and now in recent years, we're getting TV shows that are releasing half-finished. Sure, for both animated shows and videogames, both can be tied back to fixed deadlines and overworked staff. In all honesty, I'm ok with waiting and I'm sure I'll at least moderately enjoy it when it releases, but I would've prefered it if they just pushed back the release date from Fall 2023 to March and have that be the initial premire to the season so we could've had all 8 episodes releasing back to back. When people mention "momentum" it's because there is some anticipation of what happens episode to episode. You watch an episode, you see what happens, and then you spend the next week waiting to see what happens the next episode. A week is not that long. The problem that is created with the mid season break is that a lot of that anticipation can go in two radically different directions. Either viewers will forget about what they saw and move on with their life and will not have any hype for when the season picks up again (might even occur without them noticing), OR, they are going to have overly enthusastic fanboys that will expect the next episode and or rest of the season to be a masterpiece so they can justify the amount of time they spent waiting.

I thought the show was finished and the reason for the hiatus was to build hype, which is why the delay from January to March confused me and other people, my theory is that the show was not finished and they needed more time (unless they already said that somewhere).

@kinoman4875 It's kinda hard to explain it without context but let's just say that a huge plot twist happened in that scene. One of their allies just disclosed to one of them that he's an enemy to the main character but he said it in the most casual way possible that on first watch you'd be so shocked that you'd think he was joking. But before the now revealed enemy could finish his conversation, the scene switches from that conversation to another one between another group of allies who were having a discussion about the mission they just completed and trying to figure out how the enemy got the drop on the when they found no hole in their defenses meanwhile at the same time the conversation between the enemy and the mc continues to happen in the background apparently to the hearing of everyone else. But before the two allies discussing the mission could finish their conversation, the scene switches to another group of allies talking in the same vicinity and the anime continues to do this scene switching thing, never allowing anyone to finish a conversation, always cutting them off before they say certain things and never making any fanfare about what the enemy just said supposedly to the hearing of everyone. And the characters also have no reaction to the reveal of that major plot twist, even though that was what they've been trying to figure out for half of season 2. All of a sudden a strong wind broke a flag off the wall they were standing on which made a very loud noise on it's descent till it hit the ground. The silence that ensued was so unnerving because suddenly everyone stopped talking and started paying attention to the conversation between the enemy and the MC though they didn't make it obvious. There's a lot more that happens but I don't really have the time to go into it. Sorry the description was so long, I'm not very good at summarising things without losing information. I tried my best to keep it spoiler free cos I recommend that you watch Attack on Titan for yourself. It's a really great show with very solid writing despite what RSG says about it

Its a tough question because I don't know what shows your s/o has specifically not enjoyed. The only 2 super hero shows I think have actual quality writing are The Boys and Daredevil. Although daredevil seasons 1 and 2 can be pretty boring despite still having great elements. I think the best super hero show seasons are The Boys season 1 and Daredevil Season 3.

I am a Hollow Knight fan. If you know, that should be enough to say. If you don’t know, I’ll tell you. Hollow Knight’s sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, keeps getting delayed. When you say “Anime is not subtle,” are you referring to the kind of exposition like when Ichigo caught Eizen’s sword, and Eizen explains how strong Ichigo must be like we didn’t just see it happen? If so, I’m glad to say Dungeon Meshi or Delicious in Dungeon is surprisingly subtle. Characters talk to each other like people, rather than as if they are explaining everything to a person who time traveled from the 1800s.
I'm sure there's a good amount of animes with actual effort put into the writing but the point is most anime fans can't tell the difference. Or care about the difference. But I'm glad you can. Good job

I thought the show was finished and the reason for the hiatus was to build hype, which is why the delay from January to March confused me and other people, my theory is that the show was not finished and they needed more time (unless they already said that somewhere).

They should have just waited until the entire season was over and then released it Most are very okay with it being delayed to make it better quality show But honestly, the reason why a lot of people are mad is because everyone was under the impression that they would be getting the entire season, and that's not what happened. So it's kind of hard to say. That people's grievances are not valid because they kind of are.
I just think when they released that teaser with Mark and Alan saying how they need to do the animating and shading and whatever else, they should’ve just told us a later date so they have more time. Because they didn’t even tell us there’s going to be a mid season break earlier on either, they released episode 4 and said “Ok break time.”

@kinoman4875 It's kinda hard to explain it without context but let's just say that a huge plot twist happened in that scene. One of their allies just disclosed to one of them that he's an enemy to the main character but he said it in the most casual way possible that on first watch you'd be so shocked that you'd think he was joking. But before the now revealed enemy could finish his conversation, the scene switches from that conversation to another one between another group of allies who were having a discussion about the mission they just completed and trying to figure out how the enemy got the drop on the when they found no hole in their defenses meanwhile at the same time the conversation between the enemy and the mc continues to happen in the background apparently to the hearing of everyone else. But before the two allies discussing the mission could finish their conversation, the scene switches to another group of allies talking in the same vicinity and the anime continues to do this scene switching thing, never allowing anyone to finish a conversation, always cutting them off before they say certain things and never making any fanfare about what the enemy just said supposedly to the hearing of everyone. And the characters also have no reaction to the reveal of that major plot twist, even though that was what they've been trying to figure out for half of season 2. All of a sudden a strong wind broke a flag off the wall they were standing on which made a very loud noise on it's descent till it hit the ground. The silence that ensued was so unnerving because suddenly everyone stopped talking and started paying attention to the conversation between the enemy and the MC though they didn't make it obvious. There's a lot more that happens but I don't really have the time to go into it. Sorry the description was so long, I'm not very good at summarising things without losing information. I tried my best to keep it spoiler free cos I recommend that you watch Attack on Titan for yourself. It's a really great show with very solid writing despite what RSG says about it

Yeah, they're idiots and the showrunners probably didn't do this on purpose; there were likely production issues. However, if you're going to take the high ground, make sure you're not doing the exact same shit as the people you're criticizing.

Most TV shows are bad, movies, games, etc... You didn't say "in general" or "most anime" when you made that blanket statement in your video. You also show clips of AoT, DBZ, and OPM to accompany your statements. I think if you "know anything about writing," you'd know that OPM is actually really freaking well written; it doesn't make sense to show that clip when you're saying that "there is no skill that goes into writing these shows."

i would've actually preferred it if they cut off at cliffhanger like the after angstrom's factory exploded, or even just delayed the entire season and then have given it to us altogether. a perfect contrast for this is the 1 year gap between seasons 2 and 3 of Avatar: they cut off at a moment which leaves the audience in suspense + gives them a lot of stuff to think about in the meantime.

Its a tough question because I don't know what shows your s/o has specifically not enjoyed. The only 2 super hero shows I think have actual quality writing are The Boys and Daredevil. Although daredevil seasons 1 and 2 can be pretty boring despite still having great elements. I think the best super hero show seasons are The Boys season 1 and Daredevil Season 3.

If so, I’m glad to say Dungeon Meshi or Delicious in Dungeon is surprisingly subtle. Characters talk to each other like people, rather than as if they are explaining everything to a person who time traveled from the 1800s.

This is a great way to put it I think. Marvel media went from pretty serious and well written movies to... whatever the hell we have now. Anime is almost always just visual noise, stuff happening, and the writing and "story" being secondary or even tertiary if you can believe that. Lack of actual hero/superhero media seems to lead people to praise something that maybe isn't so good, simply because everything else SUCKS.
