In Italy, there’s a rampaging issue of underaged girls over-sexualizing themselves in hope of attracting men of age they deem worthy of their company. 14 year olds perfuming themselves in hopes of attracting a wealthy mate isn’t anything new here. Boys in schools not showering and using stuff like Sauvage Elixir and other low quality fashion fragrances is just not pleasant, especially for their teachers’ noses.
As someone who sells niche fragrances daily in a department store with the largest portfolio of niche brands, I encounter about 120 children-teens each day. It's... excruciatingly exhausting. Rarely do we get the child that is genuinely into niche fragrances and IS RESPECTFUL. Here is a typical line of phrases that I will hear every single time (and I do mean every single time) before these groups destroy the counters, leaving behind fragrance soaked caps (don't do that), oiled up counter tops, and blotter cards everywhere: "DUDE THE FANUM COLOGNE!" (we haven't had a tester of New York Nights in over 3 months because of them) "Do you have JPG?" (never Jean Paul Gaultier because that would be too respectful) "Do you price match Jomashop or Fragrancenet?" (No we do not price match liquidators who price gouge the market with old and sometimes fake product) and then my favorite of all time (after they have spent 5 hours spraying and respraying the same 10 fragrances over again) "Dude don't buy it here, just get it on Jomashop." All in all, we never have any issue showing fragrances to RESPECTFUL and genuinely interested children/teens. The issue is the groups of bratty d-bags that can't seem to shop for perfume with groups smaller than 10 people. I have even been told to shut up and let them spray whatever they want. These kids go behind the counters, grab whatever they want, and destroy everything. The stores are even looking to enact a policy where children need to be accompanied by an adult to prohibit this behavior.
What kids don't realize is that fragrances are mostly a personal thing and are super subjective - 99.99% of the time nobody will notice or comment or even like what fragrance you are wearing. In the Middle East and especially the GCC area fragrances has always been a crucial part of the culture. This is a very well produced video! I am happy to see JQ's filmography improve over the years! I have been getting into fragrances since last year, but I had no idea this was a trend with other young people. I started because my best friend became interested in capturing the scent of her favorite flowers and started experimenting with different store perfumes, and making them herself, of lilacs and roses and daisies. Her passion for scent influenced me. I don't like florals personally, but I started exploring a few different small business which sell oil perfumes and found that I like to capture the scent of old antique stores, a warm fire, or autumn woods, and bring it along with me :)
Loved that you included interviews! I was there when you interviewed dustin and I was literally helping teenagers with fragrances while you were interviewing him 😅. Being a fragrance creator on tiktok(and knowing the bigger creators personally, literallyspent the whole day with noel thomas the day you interviewed dustin), I 100% can label this video as accurate. I got into fragrances from my father and Jeremy fragrance a decade ago and its been wonderful. The future of the industry is bright, but there's certainly an effort to take advantage of "hype" to sell kids on fragrances.
@@ainz2579 but for example, I used to listen to King Crimson when I was 13, and nobody with that age knows them, but look how fucked up society is now, kids worried about how many times they listen to music on last fm, being totally cringe, that happened to me with also cinema, now that letterboxd is popular
As a 14 year old, I’m Really open minded to niche fragrances. I never try to get one because with the hope of so-called or otherwise being more being Attractive. No. As of last year when I was 13 years old I found myself finding Fashion elitist’s Channel when He had “Martinez” on His Banner so I’ve been here for a while I guess, But. Off track. The real reason I decided to go on board with the Niche Train is because it’s something I found a genuine love for. I found something interesting about one’s self that could make one Unique. Never try to be over unique, if it’s something that you don’t really follow. Try to be your true self and find things you fuck with truly. Get Samples and find some fragrances you could actually wear day to day Note, I also love Clothes and Fashion #sweatshops #baggydenom #shien
I think fragrances can be a great thing. I personally got into fragrances because I was always afraid of smelling bad. Nothing replaces hygiene, but it does help ease the mind knowing that if there is something masking other smells. Unfortunate part of life is people always take it to the extreme which makes others think it’s a dangerous thing for others.
I''ve been collecting fragrances for years. Once you start having understanding of the notes. Playing around and mixing 2 fragrances at the same time is the next level up
layering is not a great means of blending. you're kidding yourself if you think it's a level up but more of a side grade. A true level up is actually blending and creating your own fragrances.
tbh it came full circle I remember going into barneys in Beverly Hills back in 2012-2015 when we were teens around 14 years old and go in to buy nasammato, Byredo, heretic, and heavy arabic perfumes like Arabian oud, Orto, etc etc. We thought we were the shit wearing niche for its time and we had a group meet ups at barneys and scent bar with our friends and honestly the same now just 100x bigger. I think its awesome kids are finally embracing the niche world since it's such a snob world. it deserves more love as times are moving forward.
I had no idea fragrances were trending with young teens but it makes sense. I was actually recently inspired to get in to perfumes by my friend, every day she had a different perfume or perfume combo and she would have me smell it and give my opinion, it was fun. But I wasn't ready to go too deep yet so I found a reputable indie brand that sells a build your own sample set and went from there. I despise 3 of them on me and am on the fence with two, but that last one, I adore it. It's light, it's bright, it's clean, green, sweet, and floral. Is it the best perfume? No it tends to fade quickly but I also can get overwhelmed by scents so for me this was a plus.
Honestly i got into fragrances because i always liked tasting unique smells with my nose, and i admit that youtube reviewers helped me with learning more about most of the world of fragrances, its a topic very dear to my heart especially because my very first fragrance "la nuit de l'homme" was the last gift from my grandpa.
Sensational video, from the production to the analysis and building the narration. I got into the chasing for my favorite smells 2-3 years ago and spent over 2k$ to rotate endlessly like 3 bottles. I could easily save up just by sampling them before I buy. Of course, sometimes I got random compliments for smells that I didn't even like - that just deepened the problem of chasing different smells to get even more recognizable and be "different" than the others. And that is the biggest problem - I wanted to be unique in the wrong way - not being true to myself, but for the sake of being different and more edgy.
Very well put together video, I find it incredibly bold of you to be casually spraying Orto Parisi and some potent ass frags in your room knowing how long they linger and project.
I got into fragrance before fashion. I mostly buy and wear niche because in the beginning I wanted to smell different, but then I fell in love with the art of it. I do also buy designer, but not as much.
Personal bias, I do get fragrances because I like them and people around me enjoy them. It's just another form of subculture people can fall into. It's been like this with clothes, accessories, and hairstyles. It moving to include fragrance is no surprise. As to if it's a problem, I think not. I see both goods and bad but it's nothing new, since fragrance is simply another way to express oneself. It could be bad if you begin to get judged for what you wear, but is no different than what occurs again, with clothes, accessories, and hairstyles. Style rises and falls, it's natural since we first decided what is fashionable until now in modern day. The only new factor is social media's ability to quickly push it forward to a larger crowd.
as a teen, i keep myself on a strict 100$ every six months budget on fragrances, id not like to spend money on expensive fragrances, i like to smell good and it makes me feel good, i find nothing cool in wearing colognes and i only wear what i like.
My biggest concern is the financial fallback these young people are walking into. The last time I was at Sephora I watched 2 young men max out their credit cards buying cologne based on an influencer they were watching on tiktok. One of them even said he can just go online and apply for another credit card and pic up some more. These young people are going to fall into unnecessary debt over fragrences. This is where we need more guidance to come in to play
@@shadowlost1976 ye it's weird how you look at back to school fragrance videos and all the recommendations are like 50-120 quid. I don't see why that's being recommended over the countless 30 quid fragrances.
If you are maxing out your credit card for a fucking cologne or fragrance you are already lost to the tiktok brainrot. These people must fall on their noses and learn their lessons the hard way.
Yes there's a rise of services like klarna to get now pay later but I definetly don't see enough influencers talk about the massive second hand market for fragrances since they are such a common gift you can get 50% or even more off of a bottle that has been used only a few times
It’s like food the cheaper the product is the worse it is. As sad as that sounds typically the best ones are going to be middle of the road around $120. So it’s almost an investment, however these kids are really taking it to the extreme. I’ve wasted my fair share of money on frags, but to put yourself in financial pressure over a frag is insane.
It does feel like suddenly a lot of younger people have a bunch of unusual reasons to be getting into fragrance. I’m interested because as a chemistry major it’s a field I genuinely want to do work in, but it is strange seeing some of the things that have spawned out of these trends.
It started with me trying to pump up ambiance in my apartment with some scented candles. Then I started sprucing up my aesthetics, learned a little about fragrances, too expensive. I watched a Frugal Aesthetic video with a scentbird ad and it pushed me down the hole. Then jeremy fragrance nailed the idea into a brainrot.
I think its a good thing that these TikTok trends are something like perfumery instead of something harmful. I have recently seen a big rise of philosophy and hiking/climbing mountains. I belive that its great that people have fun hobbies like that
Echoing the others in the comments. Incredible editing on this video - artistic and engaging on a topic I don't usually follow! Loved the interviews in particular. Looking forward to more of this! :)
Amazing video kinda brought me back to reality, so thanks for that btw IDK if anyone has told you this, or it's just me you look alot like Dr. Tenma from the anime Monster. It's actually crazy.
It all started when I decided I would like to get a new bottle of cologne and I figured I would search top colognes on RUclips well I fell down the rabbit hole of samples and discovered The amazing world of Cologne that I never knew existed. Now I own Amouage Creed and Tom Ford and I'm eyeing others and I fear I might be addicted 😮
I bought Toskovat's Inexcusable Evil and boy do I regret that. It's banished to my storage room until it has calmed down, which probably will never happen.
I no longer care about designer fragrances. I have designer fragrances that I never use because "they were expensive and only for special occasions". And at those prices... Now, I love and enjoy my Middle Eastern clones. I enjoy Afnan Modest Une (Sauvage EDP). Afnan 9 PM, Afnan 9 AM.... Good prices, and excellent quality. The scent evolves, and doesn't stay linear.
Mhh, maybe true for some. I get compliments for all kinds of people, my friends always say one of my best qualities is my scent profile.. i also get strangers asking about my fragrance. I have about 10 niche fragrances (costing around 150-250€)... most of them are half empty, and u truly believe that most people who buy luxury perfume actually use and love their expensive fragrance. Ofc overconsumption is a problem but I really think that we see this as a problem because of how we perceive influencers on Social media, rather than how we perceive actual individuals around us. Their consumption styles differ because they have different intents when buying.
wow, the editing on this one is crazy! To the actual topic, imo niche fragrances becoming mainstream is a natural process, like with time it becomes harder and harder to stand out overall. Also, let's not ignore that fragrance companies sell you their "rich history" and "deep phylosophy" which are just pretentious words. It would be surprising if impressionable teens didn't want to buy the unique aesthetic. i am 18(idk if 18 is still a teen but) and even knowing that perfume is just overpriced smelly personality i'd like to have a signature fragrance to impress people around me or sth, good thing i'm broke af
Fragrance brands need to offer way smaller bottles. Both for getting into a brand's vision of their scents and also for travel. This is why I usually wait for a big box store like Nordstrom to have a fragrance event/sale where they put out the tester bottles. Fill those up with scents I find interesting and then don't come back for months. Tho you'd only be getting the mainstream ones this way.
There’s some scent stores that sell small sample vials. Luckyscent is one of those brands and they offer a lot of niche brands. Some can get kind of pricey though.
I also think the rise in clone fragrances has a lot to do with it. Back when I was in middle/high school, there was this idea that anything at sephora/Macys/Khols was A.) Completely unaffordable and B.) Of the utmost quality. Many of the tik tok and youtube influencers are promoting sub 30$ fragrances that are cloning $400+ niche fragrances, and ofc the idea of smelling like $400 for cheap is appealing to teenagers. I know I would have been part of the trend had I known.
@@fashionelitist do u actually wear cuoium or just admire the skilful perfumery? When i tested it i hated it so much that i needed to try to drown it out with sauvage elixir. It still overpowered sauvage elixir 😭
this is the same thing as streetwear and the hypebeast subculture (overpriced branded clothing) was when i was a young teen. it's a materialistic community, and "hobby", but god damn i would have given my left testicle for the supreme money gun when i was 13
I like many people got caught up in the world of fragrances although I think my interest began in the early waves when youtube was the main place for fragrance content. I went through the usual phase of over consumption and then fragrances tiktok really blew up at which point I think it got really tiresome. Most he content was centred around "buying" opposed to "reviewing" which I just found to be super unhealthy. I think my interest in fragrances is a little healthier now and I may have fragrance tiktok to thank for that in a weird way. The culture of overconsumption on the platform is just so in your face and hard to ignore. Atleast with youtube there's some veil of artistic appreciation

The future of the industry is bright, but there's certainly an effort to take advantage of "hype" to sell kids on fragrances.
those notes in the thumbnail are diabolical😭 gunpowder, blood, IODINE😭😭
Buy it
This was great, very haunting but brilliant editing done here. Well done.
Thank you very much!
Truly one of the videos of all time
The editing is amazing jq, props to you for such a passion project and even inspiring me as well
I appreciate you saying that, thank you!
rly good vid, the editing and production rly added a lot and made it feel like paid content
Jq getting more and more creative with these skits and content in general
its a shame, every single thing i like becomes a trend 2 months after
i can feel that
maybe you're just terminally online bro
@@ainz2579 why
@@TheodorSch because you get into trends right before they hit their peak
@@ainz2579 but for example, I used to listen to King Crimson when I was 13, and nobody with that age knows them, but look how fucked up society is now, kids worried about how many times they listen to music on last fm, being totally cringe, that happened to me with also cinema, now that letterboxd is popular
As a 14 year old,
I’m Really open minded to niche fragrances.
Get Samples and find some fragrances you could actually wear day to day
Note, I also love Clothes and Fashion #sweatshops #baggydenom #shien
Only 3 minutes in but I can already tell this is a very high quality video. I subscribed instantly. Very well done. Now back to watching the rest lol
It is a double edged sword for sure.
Cool new editing jq happy to see u experimenting
He’s cooking w the title alone on this one 🔥🔥
I think Elden Ring is to blame for perfuming getting big.
@@Eternal420ninja how 😂
@@kingb3746 guess you haven’t played the DLC 🙏🏻
Big facts
I''ve been collecting fragrances for years. Once you start having understanding of the notes. Playing around and mixing 2 fragrances at the same time is the next level up
Layering is elite
layering is not a great means of blending. you're kidding yourself if you think it's a level up but more of a side grade.
Dude this is so well made
Thank you thank you
Love the casey neistat-esque cinematography
The editing is so good, how is this man not making cinema yet?
Where is my vlog Jq? Where is my vlog?
3:47 can we just appreciate the cinematic level of editing in this video???
Honestly i got into fragrances because i always liked tasting unique smells with my nose, and i admit that youtube reviewers helped me with learning more about most of the world of fragrances, its a topic very dear to my heart especially because my very first fragrance "la nuit de l'homme" was the last gift from my grandpa.
I think ever since the craze of "Looksmaxxing", smelling better is also inevitably a part of that.
This the journalism I want
Sensational video, from the production to the analysis and building the narration.
I got into the chasing for my favorite smells 2-3 years ago and spent over 2k$ to rotate endlessly like 3 bottles.
I could easily save up just by sampling them before I buy.
Of course, sometimes I got random compliments for smells that I didn't even like - that just deepened the problem of chasing different smells to get even more recognizable and be "different" than the others.
And that is the biggest problem - I wanted to be unique in the wrong way - not being true to myself, but for the sake of being different and more edgy.
Very well put together video, I find it incredibly bold of you to be casually spraying Orto Parisi and some potent ass frags in your room knowing how long they linger and project.
bro ur hair is SO gorgeous😍
oh the videography jq , i just fell in love with you
I got into fragrance before fashion. I mostly buy and wear niche because in the beginning I wanted to smell different, but then I fell in love with the art of it. I do also buy designer, but not as much.
Spraying Cuoium is just INSANE, this video HAS to be taken down for graphic content
not me looking into buying whatever cologne this guy unboxes
gatekeeping worthy things is vital in today's worlds
Im really loving the kafkaesque shift of editing
Wow, man, I like the way you' ve made this video. Great job!❤
It does feel like suddenly a lot of younger people have a bunch of unusual reasons to be getting into fragrance. I’m interested because as a chemistry major it’s a field I genuinely want to do work in, but it is strange seeing some of the things that have spawned out of these trends.
love how cinematic the editing is
It started with me trying to pump up ambiance in my apartment with some scented candles.
Then I started sprucing up my aesthetics, learned a little about fragrances, too expensive.
I watched a Frugal Aesthetic video with a scentbird ad and it pushed me down the hole.
Then jeremy fragrance nailed the idea into a brainrot.
Great video as always! Keep up the good work, and improving our fashion, elitest!
Much appreciated!
stop i love smell unusual on tiktok her taste is elite
Amazing video kinda brought me back to reality, so thanks for that btw IDK if anyone has told you this, or it's just me you look alot like Dr. Tenma from the anime Monster. It's actually crazy.
the tonsil stone jeremy fragrance vid always gets me 😭😭
It all started when I decided I would like to get a new bottle of cologne and I figured I would search top colognes on RUclips well I fell down the rabbit hole of samples and discovered The amazing world of Cologne that I never knew existed. Now I own Amouage Creed and Tom Ford and I'm eyeing others and I fear I might be addicted 😮
Been a long time i enjoyed any video this much. Thank you JQ. well. Done.
Glad you enjoyed it
This video style feels like those dubbed life action movies that were originally filmed in Spanish
absolutely loved the new editing style
Yay, thank you!
bro gets it
hell nah my other commnet didnt get posted I ain't writing another one
Damn this style of editing must have prolonged the cooking process by a shit ton
around christmas i notice most ads are perfume ads on TV. that should says it all
i like the new editing style but I want it toned down slightly because it feels like too many cool things at once ya know
too much stim?
Really creative video , its always cool to see that on youtube !
The intro to the video was great!
This editing is supreme (looks like monogatari tbh)
Bro got the orto parisi and toskovat. Both of those smell like leather couches someone farted on with their bare ass. Great video though
I bought Toskovat's Inexcusable Evil and boy do I regret that. It's banished to my storage room until it has calmed down, which probably will never happen.
Congratulations to the video, your vision is very creative and talented ❤
I no longer care about designer fragrances.
I have designer fragrances that I never use because "they were expensive and only for special occasions". And at those prices...
Now, I love and enjoy my Middle Eastern clones.
I enjoy Afnan Modest Une (Sauvage EDP). Afnan 9 PM, Afnan 9 AM.... Good prices, and excellent quality. The scent evolves, and doesn't stay linear.
Great content dude, I like how men also started to fragrancemaxx lately lol Idc if it's teens
this video is crazy good wow good job man
Loving this way of editing
I always liked good smells, but KS got me into it big time around 2020, so yeah, I guess the influencer thing holds water
New editing is crazy
Beautofully crafted video thanks
Thank you! Cheers!
Some can get kind of pricey though.
great video, new editing is great too
I also think the rise in clone fragrances has a lot to do with it.
Loving this new style 👏👏
:)
I see that Orto Parisi Cuoium in the intro 👀
Which has been your favorite of those and Nasomatto?
Cuoium, Teroni, Brutus, bergamask are great love them. From the other line there’s only one but i forgot the name rip
@@fashionelitist do u actually wear cuoium or just admire the skilful perfumery? When i tested it i hated it so much that i needed to try to drown it out with sauvage elixir. It still overpowered sauvage elixir 😭
broooooo this video is sooo fckuin good
this is the same thing as streetwear and the hypebeast subculture (overpriced branded clothing) was when i was a young teen. it's a materialistic community, and "hobby", but god damn i would have given my left testicle for the supreme money gun when i was 13
I like many people got caught up in the world of fragrances although I think my interest began in the early waves when youtube was the main place for fragrance content.
The rebel albert Camus I see you bro
10/10 video well done sir
Appreciate it
Ok, Sean Lennon
great video, is his voice track very slightly delayed and skewed to the left, i really enjoy this new style though its actually really enjoyable and engaging to watch.
I'm surprised not a word about Fantomas! Nixe channel
bro, I'm just ran into fragrances world after your video, cause I wanted to look into this in details
but, as always, it happens to me, as soon as I started to understand somethin bout fragrances and creatin perfumes, everyone in TT started popularizin questionable things
Some how they bought the fragrance without knowing anything about the story or the inspiration of the fragrance, especially niche or indie fragrance house.
Thanks to Jeremy now there's sh-t tons of fragrance guru on the internet.
The camera angles 😭✌️
i like your videos much
