We finally caught a Wheeling & Lake Erie train! On this monday morning, we left the house early to head to Glenwillow, OH which is the home base for WLE 663. This train runs twice weekly, servicing industries along the Cleveland sub & the Solon branch. At 8am sharp, the crew boarded the train and by 8:20am they were on their way towards Cleveland. We chased it up to Maple Heights before breaking off to catch some trains on the NS Cleveland Line. It was a very slow day on the Cleveland Line, with only two trains in a 3-hour span. The second of these however had the new NS 4822 which wears a special paint scheme honoring railroaders and is named "Moving the weight of the world." After then swinging by the WLE's Brittain Yard to find nothing happening, we drove back north, following the Cleveland line. As we got close to Glenwillow again, we heard chatter on the WLE Cleveland Sub's frequency on our scanner. By a stroke of luck, 663 had just finished its work in Glenwillow and was ready to head south towards Akron. We were only able to catch it a few times as the afternoon traffic was building up, but it was quite a treat to see the Rio Grande unit leading the way!
