    Depressing city?? They must be NUTS!!!! Youngstown Ohio is where I live and it SUCKS!!!! Crappy weather, nothing to see and freezing cold winters. This report was obviously created by some Florida brat who was probably born and raised there. I just left Tampa a few weeks ago and was SO depressed to arrived back in Ohio. The city in Florida was breathtakingly beautiful and there was eye candy everywhere. Palm trees, oceans, great restaurants.....I'm trying my BEST to move there.

    St. Pete native here. Best decision I ever made was moving out of that town. Its all flash and no substance. It becomes increasingly depressing as you realize that you live in a city pretending to be a city! The only people happy in St. Pete are those wealthy enough to enjoy living on the water or those who are just glad to get away from the cold northern winters! Oh and dont get me started on the local sports.....all the northern trash that moves to the tampa bay area all claim they "love it so much" but they adamantly refuse to support the local teams. One last depressingly shitty thing about growing up in St. Pete? In the third grade we had to list our hometown. I was literally the only student who was born in st.pete. Imagine growing up in a city where if you were born in the city that you are currently in, you are the asshole outsider!!!

    Compared to Chicago and Detroit, St. Petersburg is a virtual Heaven.

      David Lafleche I live in Chicago for the last 12 yrs. I lived in Tampa for almost 11 yrs and went to high school there. Tampa Bay Area is way better. We got all kinds of high taxes and shootings and gangs. Some of these residents of St Pete are pure ungrateful and they find the opportunity to make life better, it's handed to you on a platter.

    St. Pete was a sad, depressing place when I lived there in the '70's. It takes more than a good tan to get through life.

      The lack of real community in St Pete is an issue. Its like the Northwest in SW FL to me. Passive aggressive. heavy dreamer and bullshit artist culture is what adds to the depression.

    What a stupid news article. Obviously the person that produced this segment never lived anywhere else. It's 20 degrees in Ohio as I'm typing this while its 80 degrees in Tampa! Sad??? I highly disagree.

    Wow, Everyone I know here in St. Pete seems happy energetic and quirky, so If this is true then it's gotta be only some subgroups of people. I was born In NYC and lived in Scranton PA for three years before coming to St. Pete. That city is 100 times worst than St. Pete as are many cities in PA. The climate there sucks, the city of Scranton has been bankrupt for like almost 30 years, the people don't like change, much of the city is dilapidated, roads are crumbling and there is just very little culture or wordliness. In contrast, St. Pete has a mild climate, has many gardens, museums, open air markets, beaches, night clubs, a beautiful downtown area, plenty of botiques and restaurants, a huge music and art district, many parks , nature preserves, running/biking trails, a health conscious movement, weekend markets, etc. etc etc. There is so much being built and constant change. Maybe the sadness is in the ghetto areas of people with no inspiration but those places exist everywhere and are far from the norm.

    I grew up in St. Pete and my folks had been there since 1923. Life called me to move away. I find the changes in the last few years depressing. I miss the old town. I don't see a reason to go back.

    It wasn't the dilapidated structures of the sprawl of Tampa that earned it the sad ranking, it was the number of people who are depressed? Well obviously the dilapidated structures are related to people feeling bummed out, i.e. depressed.

    • @asupremum1246
      @asupremum1246 7 лет назад +1

      Then St.Pete shouldn't be included. This city is far from dilapidated. In fact it's the exact opposite. It's well maintained, colorful and covered in art and murals. There's always new construction and preservation projects and community events.

    • @pandapower5902
      @pandapower5902 7 лет назад

      Hmm. What do you think the issue is then?

    • @asupremum1246
      @asupremum1246 7 лет назад +1

      Panda Power, I guess you have to consider that Florida's mild climate attracts many young modern nomads to it as does South Texas and Southern California. Some of these people end up just fine but others end up simply depressed drug addicts. I mostly just see the homeless in the less affluent south side of the city ,hanging around big-box parking lots and sometimes downtown by the water. They're only a minority albeit a very noticeable and contrasting presence especially downtown with the glitz. I read somewhere there is an underground human trafficking problem that enters the country here but I'd never know it otherwise.

      Fair enough. St Pete if anything is the best one. Sarasota appears nicer on the other hand, but when you live there, that place sucks the life out of you too. Sarasota sucks fucking ass. Parts of Tampa and St Pete are better. Sarasota again appears like its nicer and they do a good job of selling that, but its not really any more relaxing than Tampa ( I thought so though). But yes a LOT of Tampa is run down no question. Pasco is horrible also, more openly obvious though. But ya places like Mango and Seffner = Terrible. Gibsonton might even be better as bad as that place is.
