Hound is scared of fire. That’s what shook him up. The pain he felt from having his face burned by his brother the Mountain when they were kids has given him PTSD with fire. That’s why he told the archer that he’ll strangle him with his own guts if any flaming arrows come near him.
I think the only time it came up before this was Littlefinger telling Sansa about it at the tournament, so not too crazy they forgot about it. The next time it comes up is a bit more memorable imo.

Sansa annoys Cersei because, even after all she's been through she still clings to the innocent rainbows and unicorns view of the world that she had in season 1. At the same time, Cersei sees herself in Sansa in that Sansa was basically sold like a horse to marry Joffrey. So Cersei swings between sympathy and annoyance when she is with Sansa. Cersei views sympathy as weakness, so whenever she gives in to her sympathy for Sansa, she almost immediately insults Sansa or tries to hurt her to reassert her control.

Exactly. It’s like part of her feels sympathy for sharing a similar fate to Sansa but the more dominant part needs her to go through the same suffering she went through because she’s just bitter and resentful.

Cersi is trying to get Sansa drunk so if the worst happens then she'll be numb for it. It's her way of being compassionate without actually showing compassion
The acting from Cersei this episode is next level.
Yet her character is pure cringe. Can't stand when she talks.
Loras Tyrell is wearing Renlys armor.
It makes sense why Cersei would give the drops to her son. The only time she knows of a city getting sacked, the children of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen were butchered, with his infant son getting smashed into a wall and his young daughter being stabbed countless times. Albeit it was her father who ordered such actions, it is the only time she has to draw on and if I had to choose between my son having a painless death and his body in whole or having him feel the pain of a sword and his body desecrated, I would choose the former.
"Those are brave men knocking at our door...let's go kill them!" Tyrion gets a bit cooler with each episode, that's a great speech
Cersei was going to kill Tommen, because if they lost, Tommen as a potential heir would be killed by Stannis. Any potential claimant to the throne must be killed, and he could be killed brutally; this way she could put him to sleep. Also, that was Loras Tyrell wearing Renly's armor, avenging his death by taking the Tyrell forces over to the Lannisters. Renly's army that went over to Stannis would look at him like Renly's ghost coming to get them.
I don't think all claimants necessarily must be killed, but considering what Tywin did in the rebellion, she expects Stannis to kill them all. She doesn't want her children to suffer like Rhaegar's and Elia's kids.

Bron is always about that action. 99% of the people in this show would've backed down when the Hound stared them down. Bron slaps a woman's ass, goes right for his dagger, and offers him a drink. He's the MVP to this day.
Man seeing this episode again made me so happy, the Hound is my third favorite character that scene with Sansa was so good, i totally forgot about it
They play the drums because it keeps all the ships and men in movement with each other instead of hundreds of ships going at their own pace. Same reason there used to be drummers as part of the calvaries during wars that took place on land. Keeps everyone in sync.
One of my favorite scenes in the books is the one between Sansa and the Hound. She sings to him. And she also keeps his cloak hidden in her things. Sounds crazy but finding out what happens with the Hound is the main reason I wish the next book would hurry up.

This episode was written by the man George R R Martin himself 😊 He wrote one episode a season for seasons 1 through 4.

@@michamasowski9221 1x8 The Pointy End, 2x9 Battle of Blackwater, 3x7 The Bear and the Maiden Fair, and 4x2 The Lion and the Rose.
It took him nearly as long to write one episode as it took the other writers to write the other 9 episodes lol granted that's partially due to them telling him the budget didn't allow for his ideas so he kept having to cut stuff and rewrite it.. like the giant chain used in the Battle of Blackwater in the book Clash of Kings for example.

Dude- I've got the same Star Wars T-shirt. Back in the 70s, Marvel got the comic book rights to Star Wars. It took them the first 6 issues to adapt the whole movie- They also published two tabloid-sized special editions, one of them bound together issues 1-3, the other 4-6. That T-shirt is 95% based on the cover of the first one. They added in the TIE fighters and changed the logo and all the text, but otherwise the artwork is the same. (Star Duel was actually the title of issue #15- I think that title box is clipped straight off the cover.)
I hadn't really caught on yet either at this point in the series, but the Hound has a phobia about fire after his childhood experience. My only complaint about the series up to now is that they didn't do enough to make sure the audience gets that, and it's kind of important in this episode.

I'm gonna need you guys to do better at reading Cersei. She wasn't trying to help Sansa. She was entertaining herself by spoiling her innocence. When she calls Sansa "little bird" it isn't out of affection. She is mocking her and how naive and innocent she is. She hates that about Sansa. She doesn't admire it. Cersei is an unapologetic narcissist. With the exception of her kids she does nothing without the intent of it being self-serving. Always look at what she says and does through that lens.
That’s cap. In the previous episode when she tells her “love only your children” to avoid having too many weaknesses, and warns her that Joffrey won’t show her devotion, is that not to help Sansa? What does Cersei gain by telling her that? When Cersei tells Sansa the negative things about being queen and expresses her frustration in being married off to a loveless marriage, it’s genuine and she’s telling Sansa because she’s soon to be in the same position. Reading her as one dimensional is what you’re doing.

Even though Cersei was drunk, she was giving Sansa some serious reality lessons in the art of ruling and playing the game.
