  • I love the ESV Chronological Bible for daily reading! But it's not great for other applications. Here is me processing how to deal with that out loud.

Aren't we blessed to live in a time that we have such dilemmas.

100% agree - that is why I bought the NLT Chronological Life Application Study Bible for this year - I wanted study aids (to clarify background) and application features (to help see how I can apply the text) as well as my daily "reading". I do have two other "personal" Bibles that I spend most of my time, and write most of my thoughts in though. For theological growth (and to carry to church) I have the ESV journal study bible (not my hardcover study desk reference one - that sits beside my desk) but a smaller and lighter leather-like one; and for MOST of the time that I spend in the Word I have... and I LOVE.... the CSB Large Print "NoteTaking" Bible. With its single column and extra wide margins, this is the Bible that I "journal" my observations in. This one is personal growth - the ESV is intellectual growth. I have some other great Bibles that I use often too, but these are my three favs (this year LOL)

Very cool! When you held up your Clarion, I gave you a big thumbs up ! I don't personally own a Clarion but I have heard great things about it. I'm glad that'll be your EDC and that you'll continue with the Chronological Bible. I recently purchased a Legacy because that might be something I'll be reading through this year. I really loved your video about the Legacy a few months ago.

Thanks man! Clarion is a beautiful edition. I’m glad to hear that legacy video was helpful to you. It’s a great Bible!

I do like "chronological bibles" but using more then one bible was causing a problem for me - I decided that I wasn't going to just SAY I have read the whole bible, I was going mark each chapter as I read them to PROVE I read the whole bible (to myself) and I found things that were jumping out at me that I wanted to remember - that would mean reading the one bible and making notes in a different bible (the bible I took with me everywhere) - I don't know if I explained this correctly but I think you know what I mean - I went back to one bible for everything - I found my way of note taking and such that fits my needs - I am a 100% behind using one bible for everything you just have to find the bible that as close as possible fits your "all round" needs - yes using one bible for everything has it own problems but I so much more enjoy my daily reading and study when everything is in one place - (by the way, I read EVERY word OUT LOUD and I have caught so many things I missed when just "hearing" someone else read it) - when I come across things not clear I do cross reference other bibles and some bibles apps but all my note taking and reading is in one bible

AMEN! I’ve personally had the same struggle of using many Bibles so I stuck with one Bible. I use the Tyndale NLT Bible for my daily reading/studying and have a separate journal for note taking and do 1 chapter a page. It has really simplified my Bible study and much preferred because I get overwhelmed pretty easily! God bless!

So I feel the same way… I want to have all my notes available for me at all times… So what I did was just make a chronological Bible reading plan that’s also a bookmark for my Bible and just move the bookmark as I go through it… it has a little tab on it so I can see where it is in the Bible
And I actually ended up making four different bookmarks so then you can read a little of the Old Testament and a little of the New Testament at the same time

The thing about using just one Bible to read from and to study from is that you start to learn where different scripture is on the page and then can picture it in your mind and find it easier… at least that Is what I have found

You are exactly right. Purely for personal study. Using 2 Bibles this year is great! (I'm using 4)

Great video brother, just throwing this out there, I have a chronological plan I use every year with a regular Bible.

Thanks man! Yes I’ve used one before. Just wanted to use this structured Bible for my read through this year.

Great video, brother. I had a similar quandary. I chose two chronological bibles, the NKJV Chronological bible by Thomas Nelson and the Time Line New Testament in The Williams New Testament translation (WNT). Both of the bibles have serious study tools, and the NKJV Chrony is both usable in group study, and preaching there is just a bit of a learning curve. I think it really depends on the demographic we are working with. Great video, bro. Peace in Jesus.

Right on! Thanks for letting me know. I’ve never seen the NKJV Chronological before.

Thanks for the great video I appreciate all you do. I choose to use the chronological bible this year also. I got the csb day by day. My church bible is a esv journal bible which I really enjoy jotting down notes alongside verses sort of my own study bible. With logos I am equipped with various study bibles

I love mine, but yep! I realized this pretty quickly. I thought I was the only one. I think once I am done reading it all the way through, I will end up donating it. I don't believe in having a bunch of Bibles lying around, unused.

I’ve been reading through via chronological order also, but I’m doing it in a traditional Bible, and it’s been… less than ideal. I should have used one like you have. Oh well, maybe next time. 😂

I’ve done that before as well! It does come with its challenges.

2009 the NKJV Chronological Bible, was when I had that dilemma, small NASB two column reference Bible for everything else.

Similar dilemma! I am reading through the same ESV Chronological Bible (hardcover though). I think the Psalms are hardest to find because they are interspersed throughout the OT.
I have about the same collection except no Clarion. I use the WM for inductive group study, and take the Personal Reference or a NT/Ps/Prov with me.
Just got the TruTone Heritage but haven't been in it much.

So a chronological Bible doesn’t list books/verses at all? Say I ran across a verse in my daily reading that I loved and wanted to know what it was to find it in my regular Bible. Is that possible? Hopefully my question makes sense.

    • @coltonyarbro
      @coltonyarbro  7 месяцев назад +1

It is possible and fairly easy in the situation you described. Where it would be hard is if you were trying to look up a particular verse in the chronological Bible.
