Euro 2024: Beer shortage in Düsseldorf! Football fans drink the longest bar in the world dry
Düsseldorf's old town, known as the longest bar in the world, has been facing a serious problem in recent days. The pubs were not adequately prepared for the drinking-loving football fans from all over Europe, which led to a beer shortage.
Bar owner Peter Klinkhammer reports that in his long career since 1996, the situation has never been so tight. Normally, the bar owners help each other out, but this time everyone was affected by the beer shortage. On Sunday alone, 5,000 glasses of beer were sold.
The culprits were quickly identified: the celebrating football fans who drank tirelessly. English, Scottish, Austrian and French people made Düsseldorf unsafe. German beer remained the fans' favorite, and many praised the taste and the good times in the city. After this near-disaster, Düsseldorf prepared for the rest of the European Championship and put ten barrels of beer in reserve. This was to prevent another beer shortage.
