What is education if you are not taught in the truthful method or methods of coming to such knowledge? You notice very little is being emphasized on "how to think or navigate" information. Instead, we see a "standard" or objective for the supposed needs to the students. There is a shift for sure. By we rarely understand these shifts. Instead, we operate within the shift.
I could not resist to oppose the way mass education program is ridiculed by Sadhguru. The ancient ashram system had rejected the most genius Eklavya leave the most humble SC and ST ,OBC and poor fellow. It was the failure of ashram education that it could not resist the invaders, produced a divided society. Enlightenment could not protect a society from miseries ,it seems a larger dose of opium for mankind. India is worst sufferer.
Your analogy is misconstrued. Eklavya was not a failure of the gurukul system, but a result of Arjun's ego and Drona's corruption Also, sadhguru is not opposed to mass education, on the contrary Isha runs a very successful rural education program. He is only talking about the problem of rote learning. You should visit the Isha Home School, Isha Samskriti and Isha Vidya before passing judgement. Finally, that yoga and gurukul education was no good is a sinister narrative popularised by christian missionaries and colonial rulers to discredit all things Indian. Actually, India was the richest economy of its times. So, the failure has to be accounted for by political reasons.
My point is to prove the credits of recent mass education system in incorporating the oppressed ones. I am not against the elite schools and ashrams. But what about the billion numbered population? Are not they entitled to get educated? Until you have practical number of such enlghted gurus do not ridicule the present status. However we must substantially enhance education budget to enroll full time teachers and not teachers with hire and fire policy. This hire n fire policy is attracting unaccountable and alienated people to education system. I consider ashrams are not able to get govt funds and quality education to billion population is remote dream of ashram advocates.
