No one is perfect or their theories but they can add to our knowledge and wellbeing. Freud brought the existence and influence of the unconscious to the mainstream also the power of myths. We still say ‘oh that was a Freudian slip’ also his line that : Dreams are the royal road to the unconscious. We need to look at our own blind spots rather than look at others!

I'm a Psychoanalyst and Critical Theorist. Girindrashekhar Bose, the father of Asian psychoanalysis, pointed out the fallacies regarding Freud's idea of libido and Unconscious hidden desires. Bose sent his thesis paper to Freud named "Concept of Repression." Freud accepted his stereotypical flaws. In Patanjal Yogasutra, everything is explained and sorted already. We do not need Freud or Jung to understand Psychoanalysis, if I have to be brutally honest. Where Jung and Freud stop, Patanjal Yogâ Darsana begins there.

It happened with me. I was being too logical and skeptical about dreams that I was getting over years around similar topics and people in my life. I ignored but but somehow I idid not let them overpower me but somehow I clearly remem, bered some of the most impactful dreams. Later on the time went on , I understood that those dreams were not stories made by mind but the gateway to some broder understanding of some another dimension of life which I am trying to access with inner and hidden desire, things related to that got manifested later on and in amuch powerful way. I can tell which one of my dreams is not a regular dream. Mny a times it happened I saw an exact future snapshot of a future in a dream. But the thing is I forget them later and when this happens , I got to remember I have seen this before. People say it deja vu. but the thing is not every dream is of that kind. it is better to be meditataive.

I permanently have deja vu imperssions all my life. But I do not think that I have dreamt all my life in advance! I think thazt it is rather a precognition that runs a few hours or minutes before the real event. That gives you the feeling of the deja vu after the event happended. If that does not work out right we (I at least) feel unconfortable or alienated!

After learning about buddhism and eastern philosophy, my skepticism of freud and jung grew. I suspected that they were missing important parts to their understanding of how the mind works. After learning that they had never attempted to study an actual yogi or a person in meditation, and that Jung actually turned away the oppurtunity to talk to Ramanamharshi, I felt that they (Western psychologists like Jung/Freud) were afraid of something.

i'm starting to see some people are good at being a "facilitator" of expression. some people are good at taking an idea and expanding upon it... and some people are good at executing... it's the rigidness that tends to comes with expression that becomes problematic. even Sadhguru speaks "matter of fact" sometimes. i think he is aware of this, but i need to make sure i don't speak so matter of fact.

Freud is so out of date hardly anyone discusses his theories as relevant.

if you sit in a room and close your eyes.. or even if you are so focused that you don't notice anything else around, how is that experience better? i.e. is being aware of everything a good thing, or is it best to be so focused on the task in front of you, that you are not conscious of anything else?
I've heard Sadhguru (Gita Wirjawan interview) say that he can close his eyes, and that the world disappears, and that he can do this for the rest of his life .. so I'm wondering how to reconcile that idea about action (karma). For example, strive to download all the karma from your personal-warehouse, blow as big of a life-bubble as possible. Life is about the profoundness of experience.. and that things like gossip, is an example of not-doing or experiencing and so it must be avoided.

Another truth bomb dropped. 🤯Wow I never considered that they had only ever studied sick people. I assumed that they had also studied the most interesting people too.

The world is more of sick people than yogis..... it's silly to conclude that Freud didn't draw conclusions from a yogi. Why would he?? Psychoanalysis has a powerful role to play for sick people and helping in their journey to recovery and that may help them further advance in their "pursuit of becoming yogi"
