    12 GBs of RAM and 256 of Storage, awesome, I love it.

    • @Subreon
      @Subreon Месяц назад

      256 is tiny for what the other components are hinting at supporting in games. games that will use that kind of hardware are games that need a lot of storage. high res textures and smooth models add up very fast. 1tb storage would be much better.

    12 GB is not bad at all, and I am intrigued that cooler might be added. I assume electronic cooling? I generally only play docked, so I don't care if it is bigger. Might even be better than my PC because my 16 GB of RAM has to waste at least 4 running Windows.

    • @ravenebony2267
      @ravenebony2267 Месяц назад +1

      This is definitely really encouraging. I can't wait until they show it 🎉

    • @NintyPrime
      @NintyPrime  Месяц назад +19

      Yeah, I forgot to mention it but there is some suggestions in all the data that the dock is a little bit beefier, and including the cooling fan could be the reason. It's suggested to be a radiator style, meaning there could be a fin stack it's cooling that would make contact with something on the system itself - built in contact points or whatever.
      It's pretty neat tbh, but technically this is merely suggested, the data in the shipping isn't concrete enough to know 100%, that's why I made sure to note there is stuff in there about it, but it COULD be for something else.
      12gb though is for certain, and 12gb isn't bad. 16 is always what we wanted in a ideal situation, but we absolutely wanted to avoid 8gb. They also went with the slightly faster 12gb ram too, probably because the cost difference is negligble, which is a good thing. The ram appears to be faster than the original estimates with the 120gb/s stuff, meaning the system in docked mode is probably clocked decently compared to what people expected.
      Overall, this leak is awesome.

    • @anonymuzz5102
      @anonymuzz5102 Месяц назад +5

      very good point that people who are disapointed with "only" 12gb forget because they have 16gb windows gaming pc or apple device, rog ally or whatever, these devices are not optimized for ONLY gaming so there is a lot of system OS bloat that swtich 2 os will not have.

    • @NintyPrime
      @NintyPrime  Месяц назад +4

      Thanks! All the info that I compiled has now been compiled and put outside of famiboards and is on reddit and other places, but it wasn't really done at the time I made this video, so a lot of people who covered it didn't get the complete story. They did get the most important bits, but there are other things.
      I have never been more thankful I didn't rush a video out this morning. I wanted to first find some of this information myself to verify it is indeed public shipping info, then I wanted to make sure everything was gathered. Some stuff isn't 100% (like the fan in the dock) though you can see on screen that it is certainly hinted at least, but there are two separate fans for two separate parts of the system... so not sure what else it would be for.
      Plus it's size imho feels a bit too large to me in the tablet. Anyways, I am glad you enjoyed the video!

  • @SpinDlsc
    @SpinDlsc Месяц назад +25

    I'm just glad that they didn't low-ball it to 8 GB. Would have liked 16 GB, but 12 GB should suffice for what the system needs to do. Plus, it's still more RAM than an XBSS. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the thing can perform in docked mode, since I only do handheld mode about 5% of the time with my current Switch, anyway. I really wish they would have gone bigger for system storage, but maybe the lack of storage is part of what's keeping physical media alive for Nintendo. Plus, extra storage options ought to be faster, if leaks about Samsung's new storage are anything to go by.

    • @ZackSNetwork
      @ZackSNetwork Месяц назад +2

      16gb is over kill with the power it will have. It’s not gonna stream in assets at the level of a PS5 and Series X. It’s also a console so it’s more optimized with ram utilization than PC.

    • @DarthChrisB

      More storage would have been a bad idea because everyone would have to pay for it regardless of whether they need it or not. It's better to use that money where it matters like RAM and the GPU and let people who need more storage buy that separately.

    I personally don’t believe that the electromagnets are being used to hold the switch to the joycons. It makes sense to use them to power the joycons through induction charging, and send signals between devices but using them for structural support just seems insane.

    Nice! I think this the more tech-focused Nintendo we're seeing here. The Nintendo that would usually* show up when they need custom hardware. It's been a while, we missed ya! 😊
    These specs meet or exceed my expected/minimum targets. Especially the RAM type and speed. The 12 GB is great to hear also. A critical component for better console ports!
    All in all, this is turning out better than I hoped, and I can see that trend continuing with more detailed specs as we go. I can't even imagine what Nintendo will do with this thing, seeing how hard they pushed the original Switch. *The "impossible port" studios are going to have a field day with this thing!*
    Are we really ready for an unleashed Nintendo, on more level playing field?🤔

    • @scaryhobbit211
      @scaryhobbit211 Месяц назад

      The funny thing about the "impossible ports" this time around... is that most of the PS5's lineup are just cross-gen PS4 games, even *4 years* after the system's launch.
      Meaning we are looking at a lot more *full parity ports* for Switch 2.

      *"Next-gen" starts with Switch 2!* 😜

    I love what I'm hearing here. Even if it turns out not all is true, I still love hearing these updates and leaks. 12GB memory and 256GB internal storage, huge jump and personally I love it. I wish we could see that demo of the ray tracing that was behind closed doors you have mentioned before and in this video. I can't wait to see actual in game footage of either Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Kirby, etc. I really loved Zelda BoTW and TotK, I thought they both looked great and played well too. Some hiccups, not perfect, but I love those games. Just fun overall. I would love to see what the next Zelda game would look like with ray tracing and this upgraded hardware.
    My concern still and maybe not even that big of one, is the magnets. I think it's a great idea if it's another support option to hold accessories and/or controllers, but if it's the only thing holding these accessories on, I worry about in handheld mode pulling the controllers apart on accident and *bang* on the floor it goes or wherever. Probably all thought out, we don't know everything yet, just my thought on it. Still cool idea, I am eager to hear more about the Switch successor and especially this.
    As for the forum boards, I've stopped going to many of them years ago because of how people treat others, and not just for Nintendo, just in general. I sometimes read reddit posts, but hate to respond to anything because of just people in general. It's why I watch your videos. You seem genuine, and I love the excitement about everything Nintendo you bring to light. We're people and we don't have to agree about everything all the time. People need to learn, including me, how to communicate properly with people. Yelling and screaming isn't going to help (usually lol). RUclips lately has been a place I've started responding but only certain channels. This being one because again, I love hearing about this information, your excitement about the products, and really, it feels more like a safe space for a lot of similar minded people here. I have been using a 3rd party Switch dock w/ a fan for over a year now because my Switch would get so hot docked that it would automatically go into sleep mode, but the dock fan has helped prevent that even though it isn't very strong. I had also tried other types of fans for the Switch but the one i currently have is great because it's very portable as it is also open so if needed i can just push a button and play while docked through the Switch screen. So this manufacturing shipping info from March being made public in past 24hrs now makes the timing of the Furukawa tweet seem even more logical if i understand that this shipping info from March 2024 was not available publicly until now? Is that how we should undertand these leaks?

    • @NintyPrime
      @NintyPrime  Месяц назад +2

      More or less that at least as of March, Nintendo appears to have finalized the retail components and had orders in to get them made and such.
      Meaning, since some point in march, they have been manufacturing systems. This also ends up backing up some of the manufacturing leaks we had at the end of april heading into May, that couldn't exist unless people in the assembly lines had their hands on the parts.
      They likely did not, in march, have large quantity retail runs in - usually you start in smaller doses to make sure the runs are going smoothly, before beginning the larger order set, which seemingly began or will begin this month.
      That's my general takeaway of all the reports at this time. As for the timing of Furukawa saying something, we do know that he IS watching the rumor and report mill closely on the new system. Hard to know if that played any role in what he said on May 7th, but it probably didn't. It was probably a planned announcement just like when they announced NX, because they probably are revealing the actual system itself later this year.
      There was little benefit at this time to pretend otherwise.

    • @anonymuzz5102
      @anonymuzz5102 Месяц назад

      @@NintyPrime Thx for reply. My understanding (please anyone more knowledgable correct me if its incorrect) is that the Furukawa tweet was obviously not only because of the manufacturing leaks and the shipping information publicly released now but because Nintendos legal investor disclosure compliance and guidance for the 2024/2025 financial year.
      BUT i find it interesting that this shipping data became public just what 36-48hrs after Furukawas tweet, which I suspect is not a coincidence, i.e. Nintendo knew the floodgates would open (the shipping information becoming public) today/yesterday.
      The only point I am making is that the manufacturing starting as far as we know in early March so that it would be able to NOT be public until after the big investors meetings in March (or whenever it was, i am referring to the March 27 report from Nintendo IR) and investor QA meeting now in May 7 does not seem like a coincidence. It seems that the "March, 2024 hype" seems to have referred to the start of mass production!?
      Anyway the 12gb ram, t239 "confirmed", possibly fan in dock, magnetic joycons is very encouraging so hyped.

    Looking like 8" screen is increasingly reasonable... not yet updating the scoreboard for NP's legitimate reporting, but getting ready to laugh at the haters.
    The electromagnets are interesting... they need a current to work, which means the Switch would have to be turned on or getting a low current, passively, while in the dock (which would be a strange choice as it's a solution to a problem they've chosen). So, it seems like this can't be simply for attaching the controllers, and would need to be intended for accessories used during gameplay.

    I was thinking that maybe the electromagnets have nothing to tdo with attaching the joyocns but are in the joycon rails and the joycons themselves just have induction coils in them.
    so the joycons would wirelessly charge from the console and potentially a joycon wireless charging accessory.
    and that the rail would no have any contacts on it and the joycons would just always connect via bluetooth,
    but since they say the the old joycons will still be compatible then that would make less sense, but I could still see Nintendo doing this and have the old joycons only connect with bluetooth ad not get charged by the console by accessing charge pins from the joycon rail, that would be a very Nintendo thing to do actually.
    Unless the back compatibility of old joycons is not correct or that you can only use them with a grip or something.
    The fact that the rumors are that he console will be physically larger make me think that because using the old joycons with a larger console is going to at least look very awkward I would think,

    Digital foundry were making tests with hardware that has less ram bandwidth, less vram and underclocked so much that, as per my calculations it was operating at 3tflops as opposed to the information we have now that it is probably 4tflops, let's also consider windows is heavy on the cpu and ram usage (let alone optimization for pc is, in many cases, poor to say the least) all of this makes me think the jump from that approximation to the actual console performance could be quite high.

    • @NintyPrime
      @NintyPrime  Месяц назад +1

      There seems to, at this time, be no suggestion there is a computing device in the dock. My best guess is there is build in contact points on the dock and the Switch 2, that let the dock have copper touch the heat pips, to help absorb some of the heat of the increased clock speeds in dock mode to run to a small fin stack in the dock that a fan cools.
      This would allow them to dissapate heat faster and better in a dock situation with decent clocks, and keep the system safe to handle.
      Again though, while there are references to this cooling system in the data, we do not know 100% how or what it is used for, even though many are fairly certain that part number is related to the dock.

    12 gigabytes isn't such a bad thing.
    But seriously though, I hope the next-gen Nintendo console gets involved with backwards compatibility/cross-gen games, Mii Maker/Plaza, Mii-Verse (even though I've never been into Mii-Verse, I've heard most people say Mii-Verse is awesome, and it'll be awesome if Nintendo decides to bring back the Miiverse for the next-gen Nintendo console), free online service, background music (for both startup/main menu and E-Shop theme), customizable background theme (including the music), increased frame-rates/performance/storage space, stylized graphics/UI, better battery-life, StreetPass, stylus, region free, and last but not least, functional amiibo support.
    The three things I'm worried about for the next-gen Nintendo console is Denuvo/DRM crap, lack of backwards compatibility, and digital only console.
    God, I hope Nintendo doesn't reject physical games in the future, and I hope that the next-gen Nintendo console isn't the last physical system.
    Also, you toxic people/weak-minded people better stop attacking Nintendo Prime!
    Because I swear to God, if you idiots continue to attack Nintendo Prime for no good reason, then I'll unleash an army of seamonsters, mermaids, mermen, and any evolved sea creatures (such as Squids, octopuses, sharks, eels, jellyfish, pufferfish, axoltls, crabs, lobsters, etc)!

No more than 2 GB of RAM for the system and we would be looking at 10 GB of RAM for games only! IF THESE LEAKS ARE TRUE we would have a ~4 TFLOPS GPU (of course more modern than the PS4Pro's 4,2 TFLOPS (I expected 2 TFLOPS MAX!!!) bringing the Switch Up MAYBE even to Xbox SS level here!! Of course only in docked mode! I expected PS4 for HH and PS4Pro for Dock! Now we get something in lines with PS4Pro in HH and XBox SS in Dock!!
    I know talking about dead persons lacks in empathy but if Iwata was still in charge we would have gotten something like Xbox One for HH and PS4 for Dock maximum and even that would have been optimistic! Of course there would still be a region lock!

    • @Elchinodawn

      At this "leak" trashes the ally, cuz that console isn't 8 teraflops, its 4 teraflops, the rest is just marketing of fp16 calculations (no game is made using those are those calculations alone as they aren't quite as exact as fp32 ones), switch 2 is a quite a good bit stronger in raw power than a rog ally, ampere-ada aproach a bit more in real world the theorical peak (around 15-20%), and the switch 2 will have dedícated RT cores unlike rog ally, and dlss 3.0 + Ray reconstruction, as well as better optimization for its games, but it doesn't end there, i said the ally has to choose between fp16 + fp32, but switch 2 actually can do it at the same time, so is fp32 4.2 teraflops + fp16 8.4 teraflops, and as crazy as that sounds, that was year 2020 T239, in the nvidia leak there was no mention to a v2 or v3 version of that chip, so that likely it got two more revisions, T234 originally has 2048 cuda cores unlike T239's 1536 cuda, so the possibilities are there

From what we know I would say it’s faster than the ROG Ally while docked and with DLSS it’s close to the Series S while docked. In portable mode that’s were things get interesting. It will be stronger than Steam Deck regardless however weaker than a ROG Ally on paper. Keep in mind that ROG Ally is barely better than a Steam Deck in real world performance regardless of its superior specs on paper. That’s because these are laptop APU’s that are just massively limited in TDP. Switch 2 will definitely surprise a lot of people with its small form factor, price and performance per watt.
