    I watched this video a week or so ago, I went ahead and ordered myself one of the lux meters and I must say I'm amazed, 400 500 dollars was always so out of reach for me for a ppfd meter, for 50 dollars for accurate reading?!? Wow this is simply a no Brainer to take my grows to the next level. Thank you so much Shane and everyone involved.

      Same here bro. I'm having trouble figuring out what temp to put in for my lights but even with the different between 3500k+far red and 4000k+far red aren't enough for me to ever consider spending the $500 for an apogee. It was on my dream list but down pretty low. This is a game changer thanks to Shane.

    Can you please tell me how to calculate PPE? All luminaire manufacturers specify PPE on their lamps. Is there any rule of thumb for the measurement? Should I measure PPFD by squares of the whole area and then calculate the average value, which then should be divided by the power consumption?
    At what height to measure? What is the optimal total area for a 320W LED lamp?

      In short, I'd say 3500K w/10% 660nm Red.
      I was just checking out the specs on this light from their Amazon site(where there's a PAR Map for this fixture in a 3'x3', or 90cm x 90cm sized tent, at 8" and 10" above the canopy. 12" would be better from looking at the map, IMO.
      I couldn't find out how many Diodes of each color, for an average, but a review from someone who's used several brand name lights, said this wasn't as "Cool White" as some others, but more of a "Warm White"(and 25% more yield, as it's better for flowering, they said).
      I'd try the 3500K setting, with 10% 660nm Red(unless you can determine which percent of the Diodes are 660nm Red, I'd estimate 10%).
      Most PAR Meters only detect between 400nm-700nm. Shane has a very new, very expensive Apogee Meter that detects UV and IR(Infrared), but most are the same Spectrum range as Lumens are detected, 400nm-700nm. The added UVA(680-700) and IR(730nm) are minimal enough not to change the PAR much at all, but do seem to definitely help with growth.
      Not sure if that helped at all..? Sounds like a great light, and perfect for a 3'x3' grow tent!👍💯✌️

    Hello, I've got one major problems with LED grow lights, they all have those nasty spike in the blue spectrum centered around 450nm.
    Additionally, they give off very small amounts where the blue, green (cyan) interface meets, and quickly rises up with green, red, then tapers down at the far-red spectrum. I don't know why that's happening?
    I don't know if your recommend CMH bulbs over LED's, but any information will help in trems of why different bulbs gives off different intensity as spectrum changes from 380-780nm.

    • @dertythegrower
      @dertythegrower 2 года назад

      For Philips, if you use CMH. It works but I know some doing hybrid of cmh between 2 LED.. good results if you are up north and need extra heat from the bulb plus the CMH spectrum from Philips was proven best when they all came out (via GrowersHouse CMH bulb test)

Question is, does this then hold true when testing other lights at different Kelivns?

    • @ppfdapp7208
      @ppfdapp7208 2 года назад

      Hey hey, you are in good state. If you have reached your %10 by comparing couple of different(low/high) spots then you should be good to go. This, simply means that, you are getting a relative reflex from your setup (Phone + lights) according to a top class PAR Meter. Unfortunetly, if you change the environment like the color of the light, things will change slightly but you will be still in a good range.. Still, to be more accurate better to do the calibration again.

    Just got the Uni-T meter and downloaded the app. I am using a Mars Hydro FC3000 Evo with the supplemental Deep Red30 lights. Can you tell me what spectrum setting I should be using on the Uni-T for correct PAR readings?

    Is this a proper Quantum meter, or is it another product making up PPFD numbers from a lux meter?
    Do you know the difference?

    • @MIGROLIGHT
      @MIGROLIGHT  Год назад +1

      Hi,
      It is a Lux Meter, the app coverts the Lux measurement to PPFD.
      Thanks.

    I own a uni-t but no par meter. So you're saying all I have to do is get the ppfd map from my light manufacturer and calibrate the app to equal the manufacturer par map? I own a mars hydro ts3000, what color spectrum do I choose on the app? Or where can I find that info?
    Thanks Shane and Ppfd app !

      Hi,
      Just download the app and pic 3500k spectrum, you can then take par readings with the app.
      Thanks.

    Hi I have the unit t and a mars hydro sp 250. Should you set the color temperature to 4000. If I remember correctly, you said in a video that the sp250 had color temperature around 3850. Best regards

      It states on their website the fixtures are 3800k, if you select 4000k + 10% red in the app that will get you close to it.
      Thanks.

    Do you have to know your spectrum? What about light with wavelengths 700nm? Is that accounted for?
