As a guy who does his own roofing, shingles and shakes, the palm fronds you put on all your shelters are upside down. You want the water to run out and down not in and down.
Always prepare a survival kits so that when thing goes bad, just grab and go. You may not always lucky to end in island with coconut trees. That little bug and coconuts won't last you many days. Perhaps a fishing hand line for food supply, lighter for fire, bottle of fresh water and distill water making kit, machete, snorkeling mask for improvised spear fishing, some compressed biscuit, solar torchlight, medicine and a GPS SOS gadget. A mini solar charger for your GPS & GoPro if you want to share the fun.
Im just glad that you know theres a meat in the coconut tree cos Ive seen a lot of people who cuts trees just for the coconuts and didnt know theres a meat in there, that is so delicious and satisfying
Well done Jack, excellent video. Kept it real with genuine advice for surviving. Not that there are too many tropical islands round England, but one can dream!
This is inspiring, this guy literally puts himself willingly in a situation where the chances of him dying are very high but hes having a good time, truly a legend. One day i hope to live like this crazy bastard
Errr. He has a backup boat with him. I'm pretty sure, he would have a different gameplan, if he hadn't. This is more to show you a bit of survival methods. This is not a real surival situation he's in.
@@031Snippe he actually doesnt, he does have a walkie talkie (the long range one forgot the name) but the boat is not close. In on of the episodes he said that boat left him for couple of days and it will come back in 5 as always but he has the walkie talkie just in case
Back in the 50's and 60's Iin the desert of Southeast California I would use as many as 6 solar stills but each one was bigger than yours because I had the horse with me and had to water and feed both of us. I could make as much as half a gallon of water in each still so I could last a week or more. It was a wonderful life of solitude for a week at a time. When it's 120 F you have to stay hydrated and at night when the temperature drops to 100 F at night you can get a little chilly. Waking up just before the sun comes up was one of the best part about being alone in the desert. The other time I like is sunset. Such beauty you can see for yourself on the ocean or a deserted island. It's almost like you have the attention of God himself and he feeds you all the beauty of the world. Enjoy your stay.
I really admire him, I've seen him do and survive. I was motivated to do it. I challenged myself to survive 3 days in the forest alone, with no food, no water and no fire. Great, I'm done. I hope one day I will survive at sea 🤗🤗
Literally just finished watching the O.G Malcom Douglas do the same thing but 40 years ago using the same techniques. (Apart from the drugging of the reef fish with a few local plants😂). Was amazing to watch. As well as this one.
OoOOOO im really excited for this episode.. i love your content.. but ngl i watch a few of yall who do this out there and as much as i like it, it can get a bit stale and repetitive sometimes. Im really stoked for this one!!!!
This is my first Australian survival Bush craft chanel?I have subscribed lots of American survival advcenture RUclips channels? Now I am very happy about your chanel because your English accent and kindness. I wish you can make 5 millions subcribes in the future. God bless you and your family. ..!!
With this “rehearsal” and some of your other “minimalist survival trials” have you reconsidered some of your essential survival kit? ....... maybe a slightly bigger knife (like a Parang) seems to me 4” - 5” blade is better than nothing but if it’s your only cutting tool may be slightly larger would be better. Plastic bottles can be used in so many ways, your bottle solar still could be improved if you used two of the same bottles as the outer condensing vessel, you cut the very bottom off one and sleeve it into the other bottle you cut the top off.......this gives you more volume, minimises potential spill and maintains adequate seal because the bottles are the same and match. Plastic bottles can also be stripped/spiral cut to make plastic ribbon/ string.......this can be used as heat sharing binding, coarse fishing line, woven into heavier cordage etc..... Also you should prepare a signal beacon.....bond fire with excess dry/ damp/ plastic for signal fire/smoke Always..........minimise excursion, minimise risk, maximise efficiency, maximise resource potential, prepare, balance risk for reward
Just a tip, when finding leaves to get water out of them, find ones that has a leave eaten by one of the animals or bugs. Plants species that has a bite mark means that it is not a poisoned plant.
When I saw u jump into that stormy sea to save the salty dog I couldn’t believe u did it! Great video of what you could’ve done if you would’ve been able to get washed up on an island like that one! In that situation there are no guarantees though bro. All worked out though and you’re here to make this awesome video lol ❤❤❤❤
Epic video, mate! One of your best. What's funny is how relaxed you are. Most people trying to survive on that island would be panicked. For you, it's just another day at the office. Maybe next time you can fake a slight bit of fear.😜
a very nice video i also learned some nice survival skills thanks to you from this video 1 being the water collecting methods of plastic bag with some rock in the middle and a container bellow and the water bottles technique.. 2 being the starting a fire using a water bottle (i picked more up from previous videos but i won't speak about them on this video) and 3 heart of the palm collecting which is much more reliable than eating berries that might be or might not be poisonous so thank you very much
Hello Strick , ' glad to find these hints to survival . The heart of the coconut tree makes sense . I will tell ya' that , you eating that with the knife in the same hand scares me . Too close for comfort with the knife going near your eyes , head etc. . If it could happen , it usually has to me ! Enjoyed it , I hope all is well .
I saw a video, could have been the channel Primitive Skills, there are a couple of those type channels that I watch, anyway, they showed how you can boil water in a plastic bottle for desalination. I believe the key was to have coals rather than flames and have the bottle high enough so it didn't melt, but they were able to boil water for desalination
@@BacktoBasicsidk what it is but ik what they here mixed with you all of a sudden looking up. Hey man, first of all thnx for the amazing vids!!❤ truelly love it. Just a survival question. Cause if seen you on a lot of islands wher the coconuts whern't ready to eat yet. But is it posible to survive from just eating the hearts of coconut trees? Because so many islands have the trees, so that could just be the way to survive for a long time

I've just launched a new Survival Challenge Series re-visiting some epic stories, hope you enjoy! ruclips.net/video/HAnX2XLI8g4/видео.html
great
Love you videos brother, bit of a whinny winger with the smoke though😆

Being able to make water for a couple of days until rescue arrives is vital. Pure gold for survival. Thanks for doing this episode 🙂

Lotta good info in this episode. Answered some desalination questions for sure. It's a frequent conversation topic my wife and I have. Thanks so much

Water, food and shelter. You got it in the correct order. The only alteration is in sub zero conditions in which shelter comes first.
Just a tip, when finding leaves to get water out of them, find ones that has a leave eaten by one of the animals or bugs. Plants species that has a bite mark means that it is not a poisoned plant.
That's absolutely false and not a good indication of edibility there are a plethora of species that have adapted to ingest toxic plants
Should be safe as if your distilling the water your unlikely to keep enough poison if any in the water.
I thought you forgot to put the rock on the centre of the top plastic to make a dewdrop 😂😂😂
Good segment Jack. Palm heart, same same as the coconut meat! Most would be glad their alive! 👍
