Day trip to Carlisle

Not sure what I expected out of Carlisle, but it definitely wasn't the size of it. For some reason, I always imagined this town to be much bigger than it was, and of course, this notion came from not knowing anything about the place. And whilst I was slightly disappointed with the size, I was also super glad that all the things that I wanted to see have all been within walking distance.
I could do with learning the history of the places I go to, as there are always bits and bobs that I find rather interesting in each place. In this instance, the main highlights for me, personally, have been the Carlisle Cathedral, and the Uni of Cumbria (I always found Universities fascinating? There's always so much knowledge and history that's found in them, it's super interesting!).

This brings back lots of memories. I spent many nights here when I worked at a Liverpool housing charity who had offices in Carlisle. Some nice pubs there, but a lot of shops have closed since i was last there, but thats the same every where now, since covid and the energy companies made it impossible for small businesses to survive.

The plan is there to do it one day, but at the moment it's not on the cards any time soon, sadly 😞
