      @@unknownceres5714 "much worse games" the new games have the phiysical/special split while gen 3 doesn't. So they can't be worse. And I say this as someone whose first Pokémon game was Leafgreen, who recently completed the Emerald Nationaldex and who is currently raising a team for the battle frontier.

    THIS IS SO COOL. Had no idea Mystery Event worked that differently from Mystery Gift. This goes above and beyond what I imagined could be done with making custom eReader cards just goofing around with making custom trainers last year. I can't wait to hunt one of these - I absolutely will be once I am free from the shackles of Dudunsparce. Bravo for making them also as close to the original events' data structure as possible!! The compromise to make them hold the original items if they replaced one is such a nice touch, too.
    EXCELLENT video as well - you did such a good job visualizing everything going on here and explaining it in super understandable terms.
    And no I had never heard of the Johto submarine rumor, but it sounds right at home with all the other rumors from back in the day lol.
    Also just the other day I learned PBR (unsurprisingly) uses the same LCG algorithm as the GC games for RNG when looking into how the TID/SIDs get generated for the shiny costumes. Instantly recognized that 343FD when you were talking about Ageto Celebi. The hurdles you went through to go from a box mon to a non-boxed one sound so crazy.

    This is absolutely insane and one of the coolest fan projects I have ever seen. The fact that you were able to do this is genuinely mind-boggling and so impressive. Thank you for dedicating so much time to this community throughout the years, this especially is absolutely insane. At the end you mentioned pokémon channel jirachi, I'm not sure if it's exactly the same but, the US coliseum bonus disc had a jirachi and they tried to shiny lock it like celebi but they messed up and you are able to find shiny jirachi. The way that you have to hunt it with the bonus disc is absolutely ridiculous, so having an event like this where you could hunt it in game would be super cool. It may be difficult because the odds actually aren't exactly the same as the regular in-game shiny odds But even then it would be so insane to see. Once again thank you for doing something like this and it is genuinely so impressive that something like this even exists

    This is so cool. Idk anything about this kind of stuff, but the first thing I thought about after finishing the video was how cool it would be if we could eventually add more events like the Darkrai event to DPP. I’m sure there’s some technical reason behind why it would be very hard, but if the community could set up one of those dummy DS internet servers, like the one that lets you claim all the old event Pokémon, so we could send each other custom events that would be totally sick. Makes me think of custom mapping in TF2.

    This is cool as hell. I did some looking into this like a decade ago but never got anywhere. Good to see people still making stuff for these games.
    Definitely need to look into how these are made and how to print dot codes, adding content to these games beyond just delivering event pokemon sounds like it could be fun.

    I always loved the mystery around events on old cartidges, they got my heart pumping as a kid. You're a freakin legend for bringing these events back to Ruby & Sapphire with the e-Reader cards! I love the Nintendo E-Reader!

    This is incredible. On and off for the past 5 years I worked towards an Emerald living dex. Last summer I ended up at 383/386, missing the three mythicals of course. I've been debating whether I should gameshark the mythicals or just be defeated at 383. I think this is the ultimate solution to my problem!

    Congrats on getting all of this to work! I was poking around in pokeemerald and noticed that the mystery gift/event scripts could be arbitrary code, but I never heard of anyone taking advantage of that until now. Great work!

    A long time ago I made a project to do exactly this and made a custom trainer for the Mossdeep house, but wondered if making custom events would have been possible using the callasm function.
    I'm really glad to see that after a number of years someone else had the same idea as me and actually managed to pull it off! Great work!

    • @imablisy
      @imablisy  Год назад

      The custom trainers is very simple to do, and you don’t need callasm to make custom events- the main reason for its use was legality.

    • @grandmaster101587458
      @grandmaster101587458 Год назад

      @@imablisy Using callasm would allow for much more complex events, even if it's not just wild encounters, like special challenge trainers or something tied to NPCs. Or perhaps a way to utilize other parts of SRAM for saving more script information

    Thank you so much for essentially expanding the RS replayability with a heavily ignored add-on feature to create an old game with modern features! I enjoy the e-reader for the Eon ticket, so this is definitely something I'll also do once I clear the game again.

    I have done a fair bit of ROM hacking back in the day, played around with data substructures, RNG'd all these event mons many times and spent hours upon hours of researching stuff about these games and how they work. And I can't even imagine how big and time consuming this project must have been! Kudos to all people involved, you are amazing.

    I love these videos, eventhough I dont half a full grasp of all the processes you explain besides, RNG maniping frames which I somewhat get now, its still super interesting watching how literal numbers turn into these Pokemon on a data level and it leaves a lot of stuff to be figured out with the right amount of time invested!
    Also I love the Nintendo E-Reader! Id love to be able to get even one of those cards or even be able to print them myself although I think id personally have a rough time trying to make them myself if I'm being honest lol

    Seems like my E-reader just increased in value massively. Still figuring out how I can set up the eon- and berry-tickets from your previous E-reader video, but this takes it miles further. Very well explained. Compared to your RNG-tutorials this might be a bit too complicated for me, but who knows I’ll use this to dive in further in the future. I also like how you respect the boundaries for legality very much, which is also why I enjoy your content. This method for sure has some sandbox-like potential.
