Only someone un knowledgeable on the subject would even consider that they are "mono-use / disposable" DUH !!!!!

Mixed comments here. For clarity, you cannot fill the cylinders yourself. Some are saying it says xxkg in the bottle etc. The temperature dictates a lot to the amount you can fill. Recently someone tried sneaking a bottle in the boot of his car and filled it, it exploded. About three years ago, in Darlington a big explosion happened in similar circumstances. These units are made and sold illegally. The guy in the video clearly is hiding his hands by wearing black gloves then red heat gloves on top. He gets these made overseas. If you take all dangers into consideration and filling guides and all the factors surrounding the amount then it would be safe. Normal guy wouldn't know all this. Don't destroy your and your loved ones life's by saving a few quid. Granted it's half price, I too wanted to do it until I saw the explosion in Darlington. You might get away with it for so long. All it's going to take is over confident you to overlook one factor! IS IT WORTH IT?
I see what you mean, but people trying this need to have full knowledge on the properties of LPG, but the government could certainly do its bit by preventing the artificial prices around bottled gas and indeed solid fuels which currently track the price increases of Natural Gas. People will do this because they are being forced to pay unfair prices for other fuels. Because of the corrupt commodity pricing systems in the UK, take cooking oil for example, back when it was illegal to run your old diesel engines on it without working out and paying the fuel duty tax on it cooking oil was so cheap. Now providing your diesel is of a type which will run on cooking oil, it is quite legal to do so, without paying any duty, but who would bother doing it unless you had a cheap supply of oil, cooking oil is now twice as expensive as what it should be, it is still a little cheaper than diesel but it closely tracks the price of diesel making the price difference not worth the slight drop in engine performance.
