I honestly feel blessed when I think about how negative torch luck - which was patched out extremely quickly - is the worst thing that’s ever happened to this game. There are so many game communities that wish a problem like that could be their game’s worst issue for *one update.*
IMO negative torch luck was minor compared to clowns blowing up your base unless you built it in the sky or covered it in 3 layers of ugly dungeon brick
The very weird coincidence surrounding it is that there's a cultural event in Japan which so closely parallels the Torch God's summoning method I'm sure it was used as an inspration. Loosely translated to "Night of 100 Yokai", it's a festival event with similar vibes to Halloween, where 100 candles are lit and people sit around telling ghost stories. And when the last candle burns out it heralds the arrival of a monster.

That should be a summoning ritual for a boss you put down 6 candles that you find in all the different biomes or craft with biome specific blocks then you need to watch for 10-20 seconds as one by one they all go out then the boss appears that would be pretty cold
@@talcorp9998 Choosing to punish people for playing the game in a normal way was so stupid, it only became alright once they took out the torch luck penalty. I’m fine with an incentive to use other torches, so the bonus to luck you get for it now is cool, but punishing players for using normal torches was so awful.
I wish that they would also make the torches that match each biome brighter when within their proper biome in addition to boosting luck. Sometimes it just feels a little too dark!
Any normal dev team: we’re so sorry, we removed that feature:) Re logic: okay so that thingmabob is no more, speaking of which I heard you like bullet hells, boy do I have something for you!
That's a lesson on game design, the best way to make players embrace a mechanic is to reward them for it, not to punish them for not doing it. Not getting the reward is already "punishment" enough, if you add an actual punishment on top of that it just feels unfair

Re-Logic’s 1.4.5 has more passion than the 1.21 Minecraft Update, despite the new Minecraft update having more to do. It’s not about quality not quantity, it’s about passion.
@@goofyahdemoman1134 Hard disagree. Passion-projects can still be trash sometimes. Passion alone is not enough to make an update/game good. Quality is definitely important and usually results from passion, but not always. Same way quantity can't be neglected. I actually love torch gods favor. First time I ever got it was lighting up a golem arena and had no idea of it. I did torch god and golem at the same time and had never done golem. I was shocked when I got 2 achievements and now I always get torch gods favor in my worlds

My favorite thing is that they made it also a thing where people could get the Torch God's Favor which would just allow you to craft regular Torches into Biome specific torches~ Like even their punishment was turned into something that overall benefits the community! Gotta love Re-Logic
I remember I tried to make a cool ballroom-like room in my home with a bunch of torches right after this was added and I was unaware of the update. That shot scared me so bad, the torch god practically killed me irl.
I don't think so? I am not 100% sure, but what you can do, is if you place 100 torches in a room like that, if you survive them attacking you, you get a permanent luck increase. Check the wiki or fandom for more info cuz im not a pro on this kind of stuff.
I remember back when it happened one of my personal reason I disliked it was for building reason and esthetics I prefer the warm glow of the regular torch and some of the colored torches makes it harder to see in general, so some areas would just because unlucky just because I disliked the look of some torches
It wasn't even just the area that was unlucky, it was your CHARACTERS LUCK that got reduced. Meaning literally less drops overall and worse traveling merchant trades
I remember in my first play through, I was going through the crimson caves, and it was so dark that I placed like 100 torches. That was obviously a massive mistake.
That explains why when I was farming, I got attacked by random fire beams for a good 5 minutes. They didn't bother me since it was already near endgame but I was confused why that was happening.
