But I'm a mastering engineer and I use some seriously high end plugins with oversampling 16x switched on all of them and I can max out the CPU with 8 plugins on one track. Some plugins in high end mode can completely eat all your CPU headroom.. I usually switch to eco until it's time to export.

Get an AMD with V-Cache; the newest generation is worth it, because you can set it to 65W in the BIOS and you can get a very efficient and quiet system that can do 32 samples buffer wirh loads of plugins and no drop outs. The extra L3 cache is incredible for DAW workloads.

It could as well be the software you are using. This with 20 instances of Omnisphere going and it barely hits 15% CPU in the DAW. Then again FL Studio does an update, which seems like every 2 weeks to a month.

Hello sir! A few months ago, I started producing music again after a 10-year break, and I've run into issues like sound clipping while recording guitars with a few plugins. Yes, I know about sample rates, etc. I've tried everything, lowering to 44,000 and increasing the sample rate. Currently running Ableton, after watching your video, realizing I have the same processor, a 4th-gen i7 4770, I believed you when you stated any processor will do the job because you have all that expensive gear behind you. So, I upgraded my sound card, did more and more research, even changed DAW to Reaper, and that helped a bit, but still crackling after adding a few plugins into a single track. When I master, I can feel how my PC struggles with handling all of the tracks and plugins. And you know what helped me? Getting a new processor!!! I now have an R5 7500F, and I don't run into any issues anymore. I can run over 10 plugins on a single track with a low sample rate and high frequency rate.
So to all of you guys, if you blame the CPU, change the CPU! I wish I didn't watch your video and bought a new PC a few months ago. A faster CPU makes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of difference. Thanks for the info about E-cores, but since you misled people about "any CPU will do," I don't quite believe you now. Don't get me wrong; it's just weird how you changed to a newer CPU and didn't even notice a difference, only complaining about 1 minute still being 1 minute. Maybe you are just doing simple music, with few tracks and you don’t do any live recordings. In that case any processor will do.

This is still your bad. Your i7-4770 isn't a modern CPU. That is 10 CPU generations ago. You should educate yourself on what CPUs do and how they are named. If you would have done a little research on your CPU you would have found that it is old and not what this guy was talking about. You have no one to blame but yourself.

I'm running since few months an i9 13th on Asus MB with Cubase 11, works just fine. Just when using Spectralayers on more than 15min of audio, it might have some sort of issues on file-size. Note that on Win10 I did not select high-performance computing yet but balanced, not sure if this relates to the core-issues you mentioned. My reasoning is that yes i9 13th is a hell lot of money, but in the end human time is more expensive than that, so all time savings are very valuable. I wasn't aware of what you are poiniing out, so thanks. I'm cirious if Cubase would also plan using GPU or why they should or should not to, perhaps a nice video topic for you.

What cooling solution are you using with i9 ? Is it silent enough for music production? I am currently thinking to buy a pc but can't decide between which Intel processor to go for as i7 and i9 13 gen both will require water cooling and that seems to be noisy.

    • @RapInstrumentalBeats365
      @RapInstrumentalBeats365 Год назад

@@dsgwyw My i9 pc is extremely silent using a fairly normal Arctic cooler (think it's i35 but not sure, my case is closed now and built in a rack), but the key noise improvement was the PSU using a version from BeQuite (Dark Power Pro 650). Keep in mind that the CPU fan is only noisy when rendering/exporting master audio, which you only do 1-2min at the very end of the production. While the PSU is on all the time so that has to be really low noise. Furthermore I have extra low noise case fans (but cheap ones, not even the Noctua), but tied those not to 12V but to the lower voltage. i9 13th has bad ratings for high power consumption but what everybody is overlooking is that you only have high consumption 1-2min at final rendering, bbut it's the fastest one out there. If you want to save money buy the 12th gen. If you want to save time buy the fastest one i9 13th. I also have a graphic card 3060 (3 coolers) inside, you really almost don't hear the pc in my studio, but like I said the PSU was the main trick, along with low voltage on the case fans.

I ordered a 12600k today. I am not knowledgeable on computers at all. I did a bit of research and found the primary 6 cores are at 3700 ghz the second ones 4 cores are 2800 ghz. The base frequency of the 12400 is 2.5 khz, with 6 cores which was the other option I considered. Hypothetically even if tasks switch from the first to the secondary ones, they are still quicker and the cpus are not much different in prices as of today. The cost of a seperate cooler is 50 cad$, they are supposedly better than those incorporated with the included 12400 or 12500, 12600. The 12600 is at 2400 ghz, the k model without a fan but including integrated graphics is 3.7, with 4 more cores, the extra ones are quicker too, so the extra cooling fan you get with the 1600 is not worth . From what I read, the ones included with the Intel chips, don't cool well. That is why I opted for the 12600k I will keep you posted to let you know if there were issues after it is build. I used the pc builder to check the compatibility of the parts. I am crossing my fingers and hoping it pans out Will be my first build. The price difference

I'm thinking about building this one. But indeed its hard to choose. So we need to watch some more of these, i guess. First thought about getting a DDR-5 mainboard, but as far as i read the increase is not that great. So thats why i picked the 3600 DDR4 instead. First time choosing the parts myself, so trying to find out if i picked wisely.

be quiet! Light Wings PWM 140 mm high-speed case fan [Top of case]
      power supply
be quiet! Straight Power 11 750W
      2.007,58 Parts only
YOU would need a graphics card as you want to do video as well. I will only use it for music production and daily tasks, not a gamer either. Just hope it be able to run the Virus Emulator VSTi on 10 or so trax, else Viper will have to do. That emulates Virus as well and can now load presets as well, and less cpu eating.
Viper i can run but not many instances, DSP56300 Emulator only crackles, so is too cpu intensive for my old laptop i5-2520M CPU 2.50GHz. So time to get a new one! My system is i figure 2nd generation, so i expect a huge boost in power to be able to run 20 VSTi. Can do about 3-4 nexus, 1 Viper, 10 Sampler trax, minimum VST use. Ones i do 4 automations then many times it crashes.
ALSO still working on logic PC am an oldy lol. But will test Cubase, last used it on ATARI, and Ableton. May finally try to switch and will look into using a slave computer in sync ! Then i just run old logic trax on an old computer, and run the heavy sequences on the new system and the weak ones and the midi on the old system. Make the new one a slave to bounce tracks over. If i export the midi then Fruity which i tried did not read the automation. By midi it may pick it up, else i need to bounce to audio which i rarely do really.
Good luck with your build, and if you have advise related to my build I be happy to get your input. Greets.
      PS
Just hope i do not get that economy core problem as this cpu does have these slave cores. But the K version is advised everywhere for music production, and has the highest single core power. I work with logic pc and that only knows 1 core to work with. So picked this one as it has the best score, and i be using it the next 10 years, so best buy the best available, in my case.

@@PascalVermeulen-f6x from what I understand you need the best Single core or amount of single and performance cores CPU for best performance, not necessarily multi cores. But I'm not sure what is the best motherboard for them, or if maybe the threadripper pro can handle music production to it's best potential better than the other cpus. Also to support what you say - even Apple M series default for Logic if p-cores only! - they are aware of the problem and it is impossible to guess the correct core 100%. The e-cores wont be a problem all of the time but there is an occasional risk an e-core will overload so you may get a weird dropout. Next time you hit play the OS will probably "learn" and the problem will mysteriously vanish!
