I’m from of Missouri and teaching myself Gaelic, also! I also am teaching my family Irish fiddle and tin whistle. Happy to see another person from Missouri who loves the Irish culture and language. Happy to meet up to practice the language and talk culture.
Walter, I enjoyed your interview very much! I admire the creative ways you integrate Gaeilge into your everyday life. I agree completely with you regarding Emma's timely and helpful feedback . Maith thú.
The fact that so many irish americans like myself grew up with no knowledge of irish is truly a tragedy and I will personally do everything in my power to change that one person at a time if needs be. Although If I can get even one person interested in learning that would make me happy. There is a beautiful and rich irish heritage hear but due to the USA's history of hibernophobia and cultural assimilation aka the "melting pot" many people who've come here have had a long hard fight to preserve their cultural identities and even more so their languages irish being no exception.
