I heard you mention Sikaflex for bedding the fan on. I learnt to my cost a few years ago that although Sikaflex (the semi rigid bonding sealer) is great stuff it can part company from the roof, even if you use Sikaflex primer. I now use the non-setting mastics which the caravan builders use and it permanently sticks like poo to a blanket.

@@isaminecockers I have heard similar though it depends on the variant you use. Sika 522 is perfect for the job and with the clamping of the screws through the roof it creates a permanent seal.
The adaptor has little ridges to grip the sealant and create the seal.

It’s still never fun cutting massive holes in a van though 🫣

My other comments got deleted. Not sure why. Did you get to see the link to my van (picture).

@@VanFamilyAdventures ok mate, must have been youtube. Ill try sort another link. Ive done the awning, its on and looks great. The Fan is on route and hopefully the weekend job. Ive been looking at site hookup with automatic changeover, ie all sockets go 230v when 230v hookup connected and revert back to 12v battery when the 230v is disconnected. Oh and solar going to be the same as yours, I've got the unistrut ready to go on.

@@davidr8424 Nice work. Personally whilst we have a EHU point we hardly use it with the solar and DC-DC charging. We prefer to be more off grid though. You on insta?
