Everyone who says that polyamorous and/or same-sex relationships never last should see this video. Such a lovely story, and such a bittersweet ending. I hope Bob and Keith are still happy together.

Theirs is a most beautiful example that polyamory can be taken seriously and create deep, nurturing bonds in which caring is an essential part of the family thus built.

Good to see a poly relationship shown in a positive light. Most of the ones you hear about involve an older male recruiting young - sometimes *very* young - 'wives' bound by religion and fear.

I just recently entered a polyamorous relationship. I never thought I would be a part of one because of the wrong information I’ve been given. I’ve been close to them for eight years and now we have even more love to give to each other.

Pretty Kitty Alas not. We're still on friendly terms and live together but we changed as people and drifted apart. I still believe in poly relationships and wish you & yours all the best. My best advice is to always do your best to listen and pay attention to them as well as to yourself. Being able to love yourself and being a better person for your own sake will help ensure you're able to be as good to them as you can be.

Pretty Kitty Please don't let our not being together give you pause. When my first partner and I got together we both had a lot of issues. We both hated ourselves and didn't take time to really get to know one another. I think we were just happy to find someone else who seemed to care. It's sad and still hurts some because I still love him but I think where we're at now is better for us.
We've always been two different people. I think he needed me to help him get to a better please emotionally and I'm happy he's doing so much better. I know I am and I have a lot of amazing people in my life. It's sad but there's so much more happiness in our lives than there used to be. Again just keep loving yourself as much as you can and do your best to be good to them as well.

Zidders Roofurry I understand, I've been with my male partner for 2 years and we have added my female partner (who has been my best friend for six years and was my girlfriend for 2 years) a few days ago. but I love them both with all my heart and it's amazing to feel so much love between the 3 of us♡ I know that we have a lot to work through but I know with communication, patience and love we can do it and lead a very love-filled relationship♡

@@kitirena_koneko I agree there's nothing wrong with an "Open relationship" or S&M But really not comparable in this situation? One has to do with Love and commitment, and the other is soley about sexual gratification and dominance? But both involve trust and vulnerability.

@@rc5chi539 Both polyamory and BDSM require good communication skills, honesty, and trust, admittedly necessary for any kind of relationship to survive, but especially so in poly and kinky relationships. BDSM is about more than just sexual pleasure; some people use it as a way to experience higher spirituality, while others use it to get closer to their partners, just as how the popular perception of polyamory is basically swinging or non-stop orgies when in reality it's actually having a loving and romantic connection with more than one person at a time. So yes, I am kind of comparing apples to oranges, but only in the sense that both are fruit grown on trees. -_^

This is closer to divine love than other forms of relationships. A love that is a communion rather than an exclusive possession. I 100% believe that it is possible to love more than one person. It is an affection that goes beyond sex and romance. Like authentic brotherhood and friendship. I think that LOVE is the wrong term to describe couples. Love is something else. It is not related to attraction and engagements or marriages. Love to me is what I feel for animals, for example...

    I don't understand poly relationships.
I find it so hard to be intimate emotionally in a monogamous relationship without making escape plans and calling it off. Maybe I've been with the wrong people. Maybe I've had too many people.
I have nothing against those who try it, but for me, I'm accutely aware that I can't strike an "equal" amount of love between more than one person.
Jealousy is not something that you can really control when it hits you.
I just can't imagine that as part of a throuple or quadrouple (or however it is described); that emotions, instincts and attention is spread evenly. Surely someone gets the short straw at times. I don't think there's enough communication under the sun to truly work out a contract that suits everyone.
Are there any polys out there who understands this?
    What am I not understanding?
Is it that my trust issues blind me from accepting this as a viable option?

Poly relationships aren't for everyone. It doesn't matter if you don't want to be in a relationship as long as you don't act in a nasty manner towards those who are in one. And maybe take some time to focus in your happiness as a single person because that will make happiness in a relationship far easier.

Sometimes this works even better because the labor of a relationship is shared and if someone gets ill there are two ppl to support them. But I think this can only work well as long as there is communication and also same sex relationships tend to last longer as you don't have to battle patriarchy within the relationship.

i'm a white gay man. and i've been with all different kinds of guys. a black guy, a guy who's black and white, a guy who was native american and black, latinos, white guys, a korean man, middle eastern men, and a guy who was indian. out of all of them i have to say latin and middle eastern men are my weakness.i thought about being in a polyamorous relationship because i just can't choose between them. if i'm with just a latin man i feel empty without the middle eastern man. and vise versa. life's so complicated :(

How about jealousy in Polyamorous relationship? what about sex? do you all get intimate at the same time? I sounds convenient but I don't know if emotionally easy to accept sometime

Transparency supplants jealousy. You're open and honest with each other, and underscore your love for each other, rather than pretend to be monogamous and go behind each other's back to randomly hookup. That's what creates jealousy, and often destroys relationships. Polyamory isn't for everyone, but you'd be surprised at how well it can work.

I just come back from a video where a woman would accept gay couple with children, but not straight polyamorous. Maybe she would deem gay throuple more acceptable ? It is funny to see how cognitive dissonance goes on, but people"s intelligence does not.

I liked this guy until his misogyny came through. He claims that he is so mannerly; however, he slams doors on people (women) because they don't subscribe to patriarchal norms.

He responded to rudeness and he didn't slam the door - he simply released it.
