    Had mint since 2019 till this feb 23. I never really had issues until my new job cause me to use lots of data. Went with tmobile but honestly bout to switch back to mint.
    Tmobile is bout to remove auto pay discount unless you attach your bank, and remove the 3% I get with apple pay.
    I never had issues with a vpn and mint but tmobile with mess with me every once in awhile.

    if you’re an iphone user, 15 usd per 1 month for 3 months (45 usd) for unlimited plan new customer deal, plus pairvpn to bypass hotspot so u can tether one device to use the unlimited data
    50 gb data (40gb data plus 500kbps speeds unlimited after throttle and 10 gb hotspot)
    this can ABSOLUTELY replace your home wifi
    15 dollars per month???
    Mind blowing.

    I completely agree with that amazon tip. Buy the phone that you want, "used," and unlocked.
    However, I've seen Mint come out with some decent deals if you're into Samsung / android phones

    I’ve been using Mint for 4 years now. I’m on the smallest data plan, 5 gigs which is perfect since I’m in wifi areas the majority of the time. I’d recommend someone wanting to try to do a trial then try the 3 month plan, if all is good re up for the annual plan for max savings.

  • @tamwilfred
    @tamwilfred Год назад +2

    I don’t understand why buying your own phone is a minus. I haven’t bought a phone through a carrier in years, nor have I had service with a large carrier in years. When I look at all the gimmick sales from large carriers when they “give you a free phone”, maybe you don’t have to pay the upfront cost of the phone but with a lot of buy now pay later offerings this point seems moot. A lot of times people don’t seem to do the calculations. Usually when you get a “free phone” you are forced to get their service plans which usually are at a minimum of $80 for a term of two years. So usually, you end up paying a lot more for the total price compared to buying your own phone and buying a lower-cost service like Mint.

    • @DupeTubeTeam
      @DupeTubeTeam  Год назад

      I think buying an unlocked phone may present a negative connotation to it (a false one at that) due to it being a higher upfront cost initially. We live in an age of financing because our short term minds see smaller numbers monthly but fail to see the bigger picture. I totally get your point and agree but you know… the average consumer is most likely going to lean towards financing. These carriers know that too.

    • @tamwilfred
      @tamwilfred Год назад

      @@DupeTubeTeam I don't know how financing is done with big carriers or with third parties because I have never financed a smartphone or any consumer devices but I believe there are many options for smart consumers if they do the research. Affirm seems to be quite popular. I am not sure if there is a lot of interest-free installments but it was brought to my attention that the Apple card allows consumer to buy Apple products in installment interest-free. I don't remember the terms but I remembered old cell phone companies use to subsidize phones and most people bought subsidized phones. Those were the days when Cingular Wireless was still around. I think some people are still stuck on the mindset that it's better to get a smartphone "subsidized" by cell phone providers. I think before 2016 subsidized contracts were actually cheaper in total cost over a two-year contract instead of unsubsidized phones on monthly plans.

    Mint is cheap and you get exactly what you pay for. Slightly cheaper than boost mobile but one difference in dropped coverage or it switches to multiple towers. One rep said because I kept connecting to a tower in Minneapolis which is 500 miles. So the guy found a tower and connected me to the one he found in Illinois about 30 miles away and I had thought all issues were fixed. Wrong I seem to be back connected to the farther one. One thing I noticed about boost is they never had this issue.

    Dude! great info. I'm about to switch to Mint 55+ plan, pay three months up front. I'm hoping to test it out with a temp phone number for a week then drop my previous service and switch to my old number - wondering if this is going to be a big hassle using just one phone?.... I'm using my old phone I've had for a few years, no upgrade. I use wifi 98% of the time. I really hope this works out because the service I've used for years is going up by around $7 a month. Service was good but money is money, right?

    Totally incompetent Tech Support and super inefficient Customer Service. Their "specialist" screwed up my porting in and then it took me literally 8 hours of my time on the phone with them, over 2 full weeks without cell service, to shepherd them thru the fix. Their whole system is ineffective. Everytime I called them (like 15 times) it took them 20-25 mins to answer the phone + another 30-45 mins to transfer me to transfer me to a more competent Supervisor. One day, I literally spend 3 solid hours on the phone with them just trying to track a new SIM card that was late arriving, only to find they accidentally never sent it. Honest to God.
    Now on Tello and it's a totally different experience. Took me literally 15 minutes to port myself in and another 15 mins to port in my number. When I did make a mistake, their Customer Service picked up after 2 rings and was super helpful in troubleshooting my issue and resolving it. Their system is infinitely more functional. And they're just as cheap, as Mint is now raising its prices after selling out to T-Mobile.

      @@1968CudaGuy you can also see for yourself by calling Mint's Customer Care line (and waiting 20+ mins) then calling Tello's and instantly get detailed answers to your questions. Their shared business model of no stores, only online service, only works with a functional online service.
      Also Mint's accounts are filed under your Mint phone number, so if there's a problem with porting your number into their system (like I had) they have no way to find or verify your account. That's just dumb. I had to escalate to Managers to find workarounds.
      AND when one of their Techs decided to try from scratch with a SIM card because they couldn't figure out how to fix the problem, MInt REFUSED to expedite the shipping. Even a Manager required me to wait another 3 days for that to get to me. I was told it's against their policy to expedite shipping for anyone except new customers, even though I was a new customer and the new SIM was to fix their mistake. That's when I decided to cancel my service.
      In comparisons, when you call Tello, ask them how long it takes to get your SIM. They'll tell you you have 2 options for expedited shipping, regardless of the situation.
