Mayotte expulsions: France moves to expel migrants in a context of serious violence • FRANCE 24

France plans to remove migrants from shanty towns in Mayotte, and expel undocumented migrants, most of whom are Comorians, to Anjouan, the nearest Comorian island 70 km away. The government has not given a launch or end date for this "Wuambushu" ("resumption" in Mauritanian) operation. But some 1,800 police and gendarmes, including hundreds of reinforcements from mainland France, are already mobilised in the small Indian Ocean archipelago. FRANCE 24's International affairs editor Angela Diffley tells us more.
