Glad you found your place in Panama. I been to many place in Panama trying to decide where to be. I settled in Panama City because there is so many things to do or not to do. Public transportation for me is excellent, health care is as good as it can be, three supermarkets within a block of my apartment, at least eight restaurants within 15 minutes walking, multa plaza is 15 minutes by bus. The metro train is fast, clean and very safe. No graffiti anywhere in the stations or trains. Being 74 yo people will let you have you a seat instead of standing. People from what l seen here people are very polite, helpful and hard working. I try shopping Panamanian style to save money. There is security all around so safety is not an issue for me. I suggest leave your USA attitudes there and keep them out of Panama.
I just left there. LOVED the leave your Usa attitudes in america. I really like Ciudad de Panama, but I'm going to live near thee beach, near Panama City.
Another question about how they treat retail customers, In Texas tonight it took TWO HOURS to get a couple of slices of Pizza, From a local grocery "hot food bar". They seemed to have a lot of things going wrong tonight. I tried to view it as patience training for Panama. Honest question do things move even slower in Panama than that?
Things do move slower here compared to the "I want it yesterday!" mentality of most American consumers and the "I could care less" attitude of most employees. I worked in the fast paced stressful world of real estate/finance in the U.S., on and off, for 30 plus years. My adjustment from the 9-5 (which in my world was more like 5-9) was not an easy one, but the benefits to my mind, body and spirit have been so worth it!
Hi what a lovely experience! Thank you both for sharing. I heard about this house sitting services and I’m curious which website do you recommend to do this type of work? I’ve know that there are several house sitting website as I’m exploring my research for possibly next summer. I have summers off and would love to housesit somewhere warm like Panama!

I'd love to come and spend some time in Panama before buying or preferably building my own house. The idea of house keeping for a few months sounds attractive. How do you come across such deals?
¡Hola! I used to live in Panamá when I was a child for three years, and I also lived there for four years in my 30's. Panamá holds a special place in my heart. I've considered returning to Panamá, even for an extended visit. I would be interested in knowing how one can do house sitting in Panamá and elsewhere. If someone can provide me with any information, I'd appreciate it. I do speak some Spanish, but I am sure I could pick it back up if I returned to that part of the world. !Gracias!

We are in the rainy season right now so it does look dirty sometimes. I prefer being near it as opposed to being in it. There's nothing like listening to real ocean waves as you drift off to sleep.
If you have a dog can you just fly the dog on the plane , just buy an extra seat for the dog. I'm interested in Panama but will not put my dog in a crate under the plane. Too many dogs die that way.
It’s weird the way he is fixated on Renee making money and you can tell she is a little uncomfortable as well. It’s kinda inappropriate and disrespectful to be discussing that in public.
Well, I agree but they may have had some discussions before retiring about each contributing. She went back and visited family and in his mind he may be contributing more at this time. Also, unless she is on Friendly Nations VIsa, she will be limited on income creating opportunities. I'm a Realtor and stagers can do quite well. I pay stagers depending on the level $2-3,000 per house.
I agree that's how it appears. A better conversation would have been to explain the challenges for people like me. Happily unmarried to someone who is of retirement age and recieving a guaranteed monthly income. I left a really good job in corporate America and several side business in order to have this once in a lifetime experience. I have no debt and plenty of reserves but I like to work. I love staging homes so I have added this as a special benefit to homeowners who are trying to sell. However, I cannot get paid to do work in Panama, or any country but the U.S., without a FN Visa. We do not plan on staying here forever so I am looking at other online income avenues. That's all Robert was trying to relay but it came out a little like he was pimping out his free loading girlfriend... LOL

ok, things move slow, but not quite THAT slow. lawlz XD
Two hours? Seems rather odd, unless it was during the height of the covid fiasco.
Sounds like you’ve got plenty of patience!

Would you say the Azuero Peninsula has similar weather in terms of humidity and daily heat to San Diego, Los Angeles area?
no. Azuero is much hotter and humid than San Diego.
I wish! I love the weather in San Diego! However, you can survive without air conditioning with a good fan or a cool breeze off the Pacific.
The pacific water looks not so nice
after a rain it can look muddy.
