Sea of Thieves Grog Cocktail: We Mix Pirate Grog With Rum, Sugar, Lime, Water 🌴🍺🏴 ☠
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 мар 2018
- Drinking grog is one of the key pillars of piracy, so when Sea of Thieves sent us a recipe for genuine pirate grog, we got out the Outside Xbox cocktail shaker and gave it a whirl. Watch and learn the secrets of great grog (with a non-alcoholic alternative for non-drinking viewers and those below drinking age), then subscribe for more videos like this!
Pirate grog is a tropical blend of rum, lime juice, brown sugar and water, with a touch of cinnamon to finish.
Because not everyone drinks, or is of legal drinking age, we also mix a virgin grog with fiery ginger beer which, honestly, is one of the most delicious things we've ever made on purpose.

Any cocktail without poisonous amounts of nutmeg is a win in my book
Loss*
But is it though?
Probably in Ellen's mind as well xD
Well, cinnamon is toxic in a big enough dose
Max IN MINE TOO.
It was right there in front of you guys.
G - Great
R - Rum
O - Or
G - Ginger Beer
Oh, I thought nobody had thought of that joke before I found your comment.. Oh well, guess I should go and delete mine...

I KNOW
Q: What’s the difference between a hungry pirate and a drunken pirate?
A: One has a rumbling tummy, and the other’s a tumbling rummy.
Damn you
Ellen's laugh is amazing, can't mistake her for anyone else when you hear her laughing.
Lol, so true.
*Jane:* What is the most piratey umbrella colour Luke?
I fell apart with the giggles. Everyone knows they didn't do umbrellas. They liked the neon coloured curling straws.
Can the Jane and Andy cocktail hour be a weekly thing every Friday to get people ready for the weekend? Thank you in advance.
Adam McDDcM yeah as an preshow to the live streams. You are even at an bar? Why not start an Friday evening like that?
Just not enough games with drinks to create content for this
I'll watch!
They can't do Friday, they're working the cocktail shaker at The Loading Bar.
This would be great
I love how quickly these videos go from “We must follow the instructions” to “I’ll just eyeball this”
"History Facts with Andy" - new smash hit series, I'm telling ya!
trismugistus "where even history becomes kool with a K, because reasons!"
You should one day do like a mini tour of the studio.. I've always wondered where Mike's cage actually is.
It's in the garage. He seems happy there, surrounded by all those cars.
I refute your fact about the eyepatch good sir Andy. The real reason they used to eyepatch was for their Solid Snake cosplay. Everyone knows that. We still haven't seen your History degree, and a paper with: I History Good written on it doesn't count.
Sovash chetty Haha, but what if all pirates where clones of solid snake? I mean Metal gear solid 5's real ending was so vague, you never knew if there were more snake clones.
It doesn't?? *Tears degree to shreds*
I say good fellow snake fan, that glorious vision of the use of the eyepatch, is some what correct, for that snake uses his patch as an icon of skill and fear, though the patch is used for pirates to see in the lands cloaked in darkness (caves and such) so once fellow thief enters dark area, thou flip patch open for that the one eye has been experienced in seeing the darkness and therefore not waiting for both seekers to adjust into the area. (For those who don’t understand the pirate tongue or some shit I spat out) pirate flip eyepatch open so one eye can see in dark whereas other eye adjusts instead of being blind in dark and waiting for both eyes to adjust (apologies for those who read such a small and probably incorrect fact.... (.__.;) have a nice morning or evening or something
They say the best thieves and secret agents are people you'll never hear about.
Well, the best historians get their degrees made of genuine papyrus or vellum from the period they've studied, and simulate a thousand years of weathering and corrosion on it. Naturally, it completely falls apart by the end of that.
So if someone shows you their History degree, then that just means they're a historian. If they don't show you their History degree because they don't have it anymore, though, then that means that they're amongst the very best historians to have ever lived.
@@mccheeky6433 They actually tested it on Mythbusters and from the testing they determined it was very plausible that seeing in the dark was one of the uses of an eyepatch by pirates.
Woo for grog! I'm a big fan of historical drinks!
With the cinnamon added, this is pretty close to a rum punch! Which used the old rhyme "Two of sour, one of sweet, three of strong, four of weak" plus any spices that were the current flavour of the month like cinnamon.
If you don't want to drink powdered cinnamon, you can make your own cinnamon syrup by adding equal parts of sugar (brown sugar is better for this, but granulated or caster are fine) to a pan with a stick or two of cinnamon and heating it gently, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Pour it through a fine sieve or coffee filter into a bottle and you're ready to make lovely spiced drinks!
I made Johnny from Eurogamer (and by proxy the rest of them, but who knows how far it lasted) some grog for the Eurogamer Live Show at Vault Fest. I cheated a bit by making a jungle bird, which adds campari to the mix to make it a bit stronger and more interesting, plus some pineapple juice for some added sweetness and length.
Sean Rea Thanks for the tip!
Oh good no poisoning each other with nutmeg this time.
Scary to know they can make something palatable and safe to drink isn't it?
Andy should just do history videos
MrPancakes54 They all should do videos about their specialty!
shotgunshells2 I don't think videos about world domination would fare well in today's RUclips climate. Cats, on the other hand...
total war playtrough
It went well for Extra Credits, its more popular than their videogame stuff now!
Andy should just team up with them and do a crossover!
OMG Jane when Luke grabbed his tooth I heard the click to 😱
Brett Reese me too
Maybe they added it in post? I hope they added it in post. Because I heard it too...
Itsari maybe we’re all just hallucinating it 🤔💚
I think they added that in post, or luke used his finger nail to click his tooth
@@PrimeGlaz man I sure hope you’re right 😣😆
Nobody:
Not a single soul:
Not even Corazon:
Andy: *pets skull*
No better drink for when a player joins your crew, throws all the loot overboard then leaves and you only notice when you get to the outpost.... Its been a rough day....
Andy Mcp bro wtf haven't seen this yet haha, sneaky pirates
No honour among thieves.
I had that too. Started a galleon with a full crew at an outpost only for them to tell me that they'd just finished their quests and left me to man it myself. Did a couple of quests on my own, a few chests and a skull, had a guy join me at the end to help me man the ship back to an outpost... he proved to be a scabrous swab who hauled my booty o'erboard.
The fact about the eye-patch/Cyclops is completely true... trust me, I took History 1 AND 2 at a community college... American History... but I know what I'm talking about...
For those curious on the history of grog, it was basically whatever alcohol they had on hand mixed with the fresh water to keep it from spoiling. It was also used as a way of keeping the men happy without them being actually drunk. The standard mix was "half a pint a man is to be mixed with a quart of water" or in other words about one part rum for four parts water broken into two rations a day per crewman.
A new contender enters the ring! Introducing, the Brown Sofa!
Hmmmm.... brown sofa.... that sounds familiar.... can't...place....
Has his sofa been stolen AGAIN
I'd say eughh, but you're totally right Jake :)
I fear change! Green sofa till I die!
that's not brown, that's dirty grey
How do pirates know that they are drunk?
They drank, therefore they ARRRR!!!!!
Why were pirates seen as merciless killers?
because they were ARRRRtLESS!!
Achievement: You've discovered a new room.
I'm with Luke, I'd love to learn more about Admiral Vernon.
A new room of OxTowers is revealed! 😱😱
Welcome to OxTowers. Our rooms are ever-changing, exits are illusions, and there are traps everywhere.
"It promotes productivity." Says CEO Jane Douglas.
I am pretty sure that is the Eurogamer studio as that is there new sofa and all there stuff is behind it.
I thought that too, but I checked and their wall is blue. I think we're just seeing the prop room at a lower level to normal.
szbnahl It is definitely the Eurogamer one they repainted after building works
...Oh yeah. Guess it serves me right for checking with a month-old video.
Andy's wrestling T-shirts just keep getting better. The LIJ shirt has a special place in my heart though.
It was really so they could have one eye adjusted to the dark for if they had to go below deck quickly, but go off I guess, Andy...
Actually in case anyone was wondering, pirates used to wear eye patches so that one eye would be adjusted to the darkness and one would be adjusted to light. When they went below deck they would switch the eye they wore the patch on to see more clearly in the dimly lit areas inside the ship. Love the channel guys!
"You're an ounce" a famous pirate insult
I'm so glad there's another cocktail video. 😂 These are some of my favourite OutsideXbox videos.
It was really sweet of you all to include a non-alcoholic version for us teetolaters and your younger viewers this time.
Can we get a Pirate Facts With Andy Farrant video? We'd learn so much historically accurate things about pirates!
Oh, and while you're at it, can we get a "Luke Reviews Your Favourite Dinosaurs" video as well?
Did you guys invade Eurogamer offices whilst they were out Pirating in the Sea of thieves? Guess you taught them a valuable lesson!!
It's a new conquest mode that came to Sea of Thieves. Unfortunately no one told Eurogamer.
To add insult to injury - several hours later, a dozen pepperoni pizza's were delivered, paid for by Johnny's credit card muwhahahaha
yayy!!...cocktail video..after so much time..i dont know why but i just remembered a cocktail with a handful of nutmeg
I want History videos from Andy, Mythology and Fantasy videos from Jane, and more Car videos from Mike. I love hearing you guys talk about things you're all passionate about.
Jane: "Sooner or later it wouldn't kill anyone and be delicious."
Well that explains why Mike isn't there. He must've tried one of the earlier cocktails.
That's not OxTowers! That looks suspiciously like Eurogamer Studios!
Boom Xhaka Laca do you remember? They swore never to use their kitchen again. I can only imagine the horrors of the kitchen ruins. Maybe it has evidence of Jane's earlier dabbles into necromancy or evidence of Mike killing Jane with his car while trying to be stealthy before she was resurrected by Cthulhu. Wow things just got dark. They probably just needed storage space.
Andy’s grog and Johnny’s grog were both drank there.
The sofa is still traumatized.
I'm only a casino bartender while studying, but Andy's shaking technique almost gave me a migraine.
However, a classic cocktail already exists between your alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions known as a 'dark and stormy', with the only missing ingredient being fresh mint... which i agree isn't the most pirate-like
I love these drink videos. I find them relaxing and trigger my asmr.
Luke and Ellen drank a drink made by Jane, they are a brave pair of people
that person I actually didn't think Ellen was the drinking age yet 😂
As I am just recently of legal drinking age, I will make this my official first drink.
Might as well start classy :)
Better find your sea legs!
Just don’t drink and sail! That’s how you crash into sand bars!
A year late, but how was it? Thinking of making some myself.
I love these vids, they’re one of the reasons I subbed originally. They show a more unscripted side of your respective humour and we get an interesting recipe to boot
Quite right, grog does indeed survive today as the mojito.
When Lord Nelson was killed at Trafalgar, his body was placed in a barrel filled with brandy to preserve it. When victory reached England, the barrel was opened and it was found that the sailors had drunk the brandy and replaced it with water.
bilbo_t_ baggins They *DRUNK* Brandy fermented by a *CORPSE* ?????
Yes! I'm glad you guys are back to making cocktails. Please continue
And here I thought pirates used eye-patches so that the covered eye would be able to see in the dark... Mythbusters lied to me!
I do generally want to hear Andy teaching about history
Pirate ship cannon loading must have been complicated.
Pirate 1 - "Load 15 pounders"
Pirate 2 - "I care not for your standard measurements!"
When Jane pulled out the cinnamon I was expecting another "Nutmeg Incident." How much cinnamon is a lethal dose?
Oh man, been a while since you made a cocktail video. Always love those. Congratulations on not one, but TWO genuinely good drinks!
can you imagine there was a time where four people could not only sit on a sofa together but also drink from the same glass
I think this video is the one that for some reason put the weird thought in my head that these 4 all lived together, dunno why.
Loving the videos, always my favourite channel, I would love to see more unboxing videos from you guys! Keep up the amazing work :)
I can't believe I watch a bunch of people make a drink and its virgin version for 14 minutes.
And enjoyed it.
The point of the rum wasn't to make stale water more palatable, it was to stop it going stale. Alcohol is naturally antibacterial, and was one of the only ways of keeping water drinkable and preventing the spread of germs prior to chlorination.
Kind-of a pity the one you all shared from the same mug was the non-alcoholic one.
I love this so much. I wish I could see you guys mix the 2 versions though. It's not the same without the regretful cringing.
Can we get a mash-up of Oxbox cocktails and drunk history? I want to hear Andy tell the many tales of Admiral Edward Vernon while getting more and more slammed on grog.
I just watched the other cocktail mixing videos 'cus I'm going to be the bartender next time I meet with my friends. So thanks for another recipe.
I am learning so much valuable information about how pirates work from this video! I never knew they had laser eyes or drank from Pirates of the Carribean plastic tankards, thanks for teaching me!
Andy is evolving his smark-ness, first a balor club tee shirt, then a LIJ shirt and now a SPLX shirt!
I love that you included a non-alcoholic version of the grog. I will try this some day due to your high praise.
I really appreciate you guys making a non alcoholic version too. As a adult who chooses not to drink it's nice to have a recipe I can try too. ^_^
Made it alongside you guys. It was remarkably good!
Woohoo! Congratulations on the drinkable drinks! :-)
Y’all arrrr so great!!
Nice job picking Kraken rum. Not only is it funny for the Sea of Thieves context but it's some damn tasty stuff!! I'm gonna have to make this concoction.
Definitely love to see more of this, maybe even some more game inspired cooking.
Holy Hell! Is that Frostmourne in the background?! That is totally Awesome!
The laughter... so contagious... i cant stop it... noooooooo! Hahah
It's was funny right up till the Black Beard MAAARRRTINI pun and then it was freakin' hilarious! Well done Jane, Well done.
I've been meaning to say this before, but Jane makes the most picture perfect Pun Dog-face
"A M'arrrrrrtini" Boo. To Jane. Specifically.
I love how Like gets to sit on the sofa and Ellen has to sit on the floor. Ellen needs the height the sofa brings
Sipping one right now and it's really good! Thank ox-pals! More cocktails in the future please...with reasonable amount of nutmeg ;)
This absolutely made my day
I have been waiting ages for a new outside Xbox craft show xxxx
Awesome, do more of these and less numbered lists. I’m going to go home and make this tonight.
I don't think I've ever been this excited to see a drink mixed :D
Eoghan Maguire I’ll drink to that.
G.R.O.G- Get Ready Old George. That was what the pirates would sing as they went to the pub.
8:10 there is an audible click! Jane heard it.
I’ve learnt so many history facts. Thank you!
Always fun to see the Eurogamer studio!
Also this one looks better than the grog Johnny made. :P
No pepperoni or red food dye? Johnny will be very disappointed.
Johnny and Aoife will be relieved. Chris will be very disappointed.
I love the digital zooms of this video.. makes it feel like a meme video
Look at the happy, innocent fools. Sitting in the same room. Drinking from the same vessel. So young
I just noticed... It is the same couch as in Eurogamer videos (and shelf in the background)...
Which means... Those two universes are together...Best crossover ever! :D
Yyeeeeeesssss! Rations! I love alcoholic rations! But nonholic work for me aswell! Recipe video🎉
The looks of genuine surprise on everyone’s face as they realise it’s actually good are priceless.
the most refreshing 4 hours of my life :O
'Twas just yesterday I was thinking we'd not had a drinking episode in a while and now today, as if by magic, one appears.
Yay, another course cocktail!
Me: Ellen is old enough to drink?
Me (to me): short people still age....
Can we get an OutsideNavalHistory with Luke and Andy just teaching facts about the Royal Navy?
I would enjoy that immensely.
Look at that Frostmourne in the back! My heart melted from pleasure.
andy be carefull
jane is a Hexenbiest. she will use her Zaubertränke
if you dont understand ask elle.......
I could absolutely tune in on the regular for an "Andy's Alternative Historical Facts" show
If Corazon isn't drinking this next DnD session I will be massively disappointed. And I'm already disappointed that I don't have any rum in. Great video!
I don't drink but these cocktail videos are genuinely some of my very favorites. Also, fun fact Jane, "mar" is Spanish for sea, so your submission is extra punny! XD
Yay. As I cannot drink due to some of the meds that keep me alive. I’m happy to see non alcoholic options.
That Jethro Poseidon name really hit home. When windows asked me to name my last computer, I decided on Jethro and my online name has been Poseidonh2o for years... So I guess what I'm saying is thanks for the shout out oxbox!
I was thinking "recursive acronym" just as Jane said it. It made me laugh and laugh and laugh.
I'm glad Andy reminded me to wash, eat and sleep... it's been 12 weeks since their last reminder.
Do more of these alcoholic drink mixes for games.. it may be hard, but they are very fun and innovative. I would like to see a series
