    Love you Kaleb. We have become a throwaway society, throwing away and creating tons of trash. My mother taught me to buy the best I can afford and then take care of it. Things can last a lifetime with kindness and care. ❤️

    Hi Kaleb. Great info today. I have used BKF on my All-Clad pans for years. It works beautifully. I'm also interested in your tips for cleaning, and keeping clean, your copper cookware. I recall you mentioning in an old video that some of the pans in your collection needed to be re-skinned with fresh metals. Please give more details on this. At what point do they become unusable and what are your sources for having this done? What causes the deterioration and ways to prevent it? Appreciate the way you present your passion for everything cooking and gardening. Very watchable and informative. Thank you!

    I bought a good set of Calphelon when I went back to work after having my first child. She turns 17 this month. I cook on a gas stove, and have found Bar Keepers Friend not only helps them stay clean and shiny on the inside, but helps remove the build up and discoloration on the bottom of them from the gas range.

    Thank you so much for this tip. I love all your videos and the stories of your family's way of living when you grew up. The passion you instill in all your videos are so inspiring for me. I have several of the flat pans you used today (when I purchased mine 30+ years ago they were called jelly roll pans), they look good. Several people didn't believe that they were that old. BKF has become more popular so now I don't have to go to the local hardware store to buy it.

    Thank you Caleb for this video. I have used the liquid form of barkeepers friend and will now try the powdered form instead in the kitchen and reserve the soft cleanser to the bathroom tile, ceramic, and copper cleanings.. The liquid form has warnings about the oxalic and citric acids and surfactants to avoid prolonged contact with skin. It makes my gloves feel sticky and eventually disintegrates them. Imagine what it would do to your skin, and if not rinsed off well. I also noticed despite rising my gloves well that it still puts glove markings/imprints on my other pans. I will not be using the liquid version on my pans in the future.

    Barkeepers Friend... YES! It comes in liquid now too.For glass baking wear I use dish doap and baking soda. You can also put water in the pan and heat it back up again and that will losen the dried on stuff. p.s. I don't use or allow SOS pads in my house. If I have one it's used in the garage to clean garden pots or equipment.

    I often see YT cooking videos where pans with baked on yuck are used. So gross! I'm a new convert to BKF. I have an enameled pan that has been relegated to one use...making toffee at Christmas. The enamel has discolored due to the high temperature required for making candy. Amazingly, the BKF removed the discoloration on the first try and I have been using that sauce pan for 40 years! It's also great at removing stains from porcelain sinks!

    • @playinatlife5778

      I think seasoning is only for cast iron to keep it from rusting (also helps make it nonstick). Stainless steel doesn't typically rust.

    Caleb probably forgot to mention one piece of important advice: NEVER put cookware that you love in the dishwasher. Most dishwasher soaps are highly acidic and will (over time) damage most cookware, even if it says it's "dishwasher safe." Hand washing will extend the life of cookware and keep it looking good longer. Yeah, it takes extra work and ambition but it's worth it unless you like buying new cookware frequently.

  • @russbear31
    @russbear31 2 года назад

    It's actually a myth that baking sheets must look absolutely new at all times. On most TV cooking shows they use a pan once, toss it, and use a new pan every time. I'm sure in real life even Julia Childs had grungy baking sheets.
