I am now 74, and during my life I have had the good fortune to hear and enjoy SO MANY musicians and artists in pretty well every genre of music. A lot of them are now no longer with us, and I admit there were times when I did wonder if there was going to be any new talent appear to take their place. Since then I am glad to say that I have discovered quite a few new artists who are absolutely amazing, and Ren is definitely waaaaay up near the top of this list! He has such an understanding of how to take pain, suffering, and the sad parts of human existence and transform them into hope and even joy. His knowledge of theatre and drama through music adds such depth to his videos, and it thrills me to think that there is good evidence that he is really just getting started!

The place swap is an acknowledgement that Kujo most likely feels like he's the victim. The pig mask, as always, represents greed. He also revealed his third album tat, a cute little bunny on a pinkie finger. He mentioned that he'll be releasing a special drop of Sick Boi with the re-worked track and it might have some extras. He also teased a possible collaboration with Imagine Dragons. 😮

As Ren opens with the heavy grunts and aggression the camera shot from behind him in the "red prison jumpsuit" he almost looks like a red heart to me. Ren is always going to be the beautiful person he has always been but I love that he used his creativity to get his anger out. This is how non-violent people deal with many crappy situations. Absolutely this. Sick Boi wasn’t some pop song, it was a deep and very personal dive into Rens life, heart, mind & soul. There’s a certain kind of nasty in going for someone who has been through so much & as you say at this timeIt. It also speaks volumes about the character of this individual in going for the cold hard money grab especially when generous, constructive, and arguably undeserved creative solutions were offered. I think it shows a certain laziness to not really know your opponent well before picking a fight. Maybe he mistook Ren’s kindness, fairness, and the vulnerability in his art as weakness. What a mistake, vulnerability takes the courage of a lion, kindness and compassion require insight, perception and the ability to think beyond the box of the egotistical greedy self, the ability to balance the dark and the light, REN is top of the game in exploring such themes and the human condition. If anything this situation has given REN an excuse to unleash the darker shadow side and flex his creative genius. Kujo/whojo may haVe thought his actions would elevate his reputation as well as lining his pockets but actions have consequences. He’s gained a reputation as a bit of a twat for rejecting a solid offer that could have enhanced his credibility and audience. Instead he has earned himself a place in the rogues gallery of the music scene as ‘that person’, who puts money over moral, who is prepared to shit on well respected and much loved artists in favour of the greedy money grab, and joins the mugshots of piggybacking parasites who prefer the money game to music.
Ren isn't just a musician. He's a poet, artist, thespian. Love that he does trilogies of songs, it's his calling card. Love finding the easter eggs in his songs too. (Hint, Money Games 2 he mentions in Hi Ren. "She sells sea shells on the sea shore" )
my thoughts are that he still has an opportunity not to just be the scenery and still do a colab - everybody wants a part 2 - theiving fucker and peg leg could could use the vanila music ren put out for a dis rap straight back at him - that would force a part 2 - ditto that and force a part 3 - and so on and so on - people would view everything even if it was crap, even if just to flame it - he can still earn off the situation - he if did, then maybe he'd put some effort into undoing the damage - unlikely - but y'know, just putting it out there

Great reaction, as usual, Knox. My favorite part of this reaction, besides it coming from an insider's perspective, is the fact that you kept two things in the forefront for people to remember and digest: 1. The invalid copyright strike and its effect on the livelihood of artists. It is unfair to lay that burden at the feet of Ren and in the midst of all the other drama, make Ren deal with that. 2. The mental toll drama like this creates for an artist who is just trying to make art within all of the legal guidelines out there. For as much as this all blew up, it's a good reminder that you put out there that none of this extra stuff needed to happen if the initial copyright violation KUJO MADE by not clearing the sample was addressed and owned up to. If Kujo takes care of that, the only thing left on the table is any outstanding publishing money owed to him which Ren was 110% willing to help pursue and secure for him. The line was "the last time WE did this the hope did prevail". He's referring back to Hi Ren directly. A lot of the beginning of the song is a conversation between those two Rens we previously saw.
Maybe I missed it, but did you mention that the whole first part was on top of being about Kujo was also just callback after callback verbatim to "Hi Ren". Adds another really interesting layer about how the dark side wins sometimes.
I don't think when he mentions "The last time we did this the hope did prevail" was a reference to Hi Ren, but rather the last time he did a diss track (KingDotta) he ended up squashing the beef and they're friends now, so the hope prevailed.
He specifically referenced 'Hi Ren' , mentioned the pendulums and songs of hope which again calls back to how 'the last time we did this' (in Hi Ren) hope prevailed. Also don't forget, he's talking to himself at this point in the song!
its in a whole hi ren section.. "not Hi Ren ii".. "Pendulum" (in Hi ren swinging from the dark to the light", and in Hi Ren "Hope" was what "loosened the noose on the rope".. in this Hope tightens the rope
I think my favorite little callback in the song is to the opening verse of Ren's Foo Fighters remake with the little march and spin he does after dragging in 'Kujo'. He's always got so many little hidden elements to his songs.
I love the fact that Ren looks like a heart at the beginning with the two chambers on both side (legs) pumping harder and faster due to the anger and stress of everything.
There is also the point when Light Ren chooses to allow Dark Ren to take the reins.. The heartbeat changes to a slower more controlled heart rate light Ren dealing with the stress of holding back dark Ren and the stress of the whole situation, suddenly he finds relief when dark Ren takes over and DR lives for this and thats a comfortable heart rate for him while dishing out the verbal preamble. The part where Ren swaps places with kujo for me represents Sick boi being held captive, but it also happens on the beat of the word NIGHTMARES, for me that symbolised Ren can control his emotions during the day however at night his sub conscious can't be controlled and sick boi is still playing on his mind in nightmares. There is so much imagery conjured up in these lyrics and the visuals. What a f**king delight to see it.
Love the choir in the back and guessing it's a reference to the stolen sample from the Bulgarian choir. And when he says how he's done his stuff legally, they all fall at Kujos feet.

I’m so thankful I have a physical copy of the Sick Boi CD. As someone with many of the same health issues as Ren, this song being taken away from him is such a detrimental blow in numerous ways. Sick Boi was a huge tool for Ren to process the physical, mental, and emotional pain he endured. Hell…still endures. I can attest from my personal experience with chronic illness of how much effort that man puts into every waking moment with his health. Kujo didnt just hurt Ren, he hurt and enraged an entire community. Ren will come out on top, but i can’t even imagine how soul tiring this is for him.

I discovered Ren randomly when I stumbled upon "Wade in the water" by "Big push" and did not even know he was a rapper until many months later. The boy can sing and the boy can rap! Edit: If anyone hasn't listened I definitely recommend to go give it a listen.

I promised myself I would not watch a reaction video after the song dropped. I caved and picked you because I have listened to your reactions before. You break things down so well and pick up 100 things I didn't even hear or see. I didn't know you knew Ren personally. I thought that may lead you to a bias, but you didn't. You added value to the meaning and knew some behind the scenes that gave greater understanding, explaining some of the legal and personal battles Ren faced. The only thing it that I do not think Ren unleashed his dark side, I think he melded the dark and the light to give a well-deserved diss. The threat at the end seemed like the light Ren was prepared to vacate so the dark could fully step in.

I hope he can get the original choir on the new Sick Boi remake. Personally, I don’t think I could have been as measured and restrained as Ren has been throughout the whole attempt to get a resolution. He tried his heart out. You can’t reason with people who don’t know how to think past his greed. They must have thought Sick Boi was their giant golden egg. In this case that egg hatched into one righteously PO’d dragon. As Ren opens with the heavy grunts and aggression the camera shot from behind him in the "red prison jumpsuit" he almost looks like a red heart to me. Ren is always going to be the beautiful person he has always been but I love that he used his creativity to get his anger out. This is how non-violent people deal with many crappy situations. Absolutely this. Sick Boi wasn’t some pop song, it was a deep and very personal dive into Rens life, heart, mind & soul. There’s a certain kind of nasty in going for someone who has been through so much & as you say at this timeIt. It also speaks volumes about the character of this individual in going for the cold hard money grab especially when generous, constructive, and arguably undeserved creative solutions were offered.
I think it shows a certain laziness to not really know your opponent well before picking a fight. Maybe he mistook Ren’s kindness, fairness, and the vulnerability in his art as weakness. What a mistake, vulnerability takes the courage of a lion, kindness and compassion require insight, perception and the ability to think beyond the box of the egotistical greedy self, the ability to balance the dark and the light, REN is top of the game in exploring such themes and the human condition. If anything this situation has given REN an excuse to unleash the darker shadow side and flex his creative genius.
Kujo/whojo may haVe thought his actions would elevate his reputation as well as lining his pockets but actions have consequences. He’s gained a reputation as a bit of a twat for rejecting a solid offer that could have enhanced his credibility and audience. Instead he has earned himself a place in the rogues gallery of the music scene as ‘that person’, who puts money over moral, who is prepared to shit on well respected and much loved artists in favour of the greedy money grab, and joins the mugshots of piggybacking parasites who prefer the money game to music.

Great reaction, as usual, Knox. My favorite part of this reaction, besides it coming from an insider's perspective, is the fact that you kept two things in the forefront for people to remember and digest: 1. The invalid copyright strike and its effect on the livelihood of artists. It is unfair to lay that burden at the feet of Ren and in the midst of all the other drama, make Ren deal with that. 2. The mental toll drama like this creates for an artist who is just trying to make art within all of the legal guidelines out there. For as much as this all blew up, it's a good reminder that you put out there that none of this extra stuff needed to happen if the initial copyright violation KUJO MADE by not clearing the sample was addressed and owned up to. If Kujo takes care of that, the only thing left on the table is any outstanding publishing money owed to him which Ren was 110% willing to help pursue and secure for him. The line was "the last time WE did this the hope did prevail". He's referring back to Hi Ren directly. A lot of the beginning of the song is a conversation between those two Rens we previously saw.

Maybe I missed it, but did you mention that the whole first part was on top of being about Kujo was also just callback after callback verbatim to "Hi Ren". Adds another really interesting layer about how the dark side wins sometimes.
I don't think when he mentions "The last time we did this the hope did prevail" was a reference to Hi Ren, but rather the last time he did a diss track (KingDotta) he ended up squashing the beef and they're friends now, so the hope prevailed.
I mean, it's Ren, he loves using multiple meanings, so he probably intended that line as both.
He specifically referenced 'Hi Ren' , mentioned the pendulums and songs of hope which again calls back to how 'the last time we did this' (in Hi Ren) hope prevailed. Also don't forget, he's talking to himself at this point in the song!

I think my favorite little callback in the song is to the opening verse of Ren's Foo Fighters remake with the little march and spin he does after dragging in 'Kujo'. He's always got so many little hidden elements to his songs.
I love the fact that Ren looks like a heart at the beginning with the two chambers on both side (legs) pumping harder and faster due to the anger and stress of everything.

There is also the point when Light Ren chooses to allow Dark Ren to take the reins.. The heartbeat changes to a slower more controlled heart rate light Ren dealing with the stress of holding back dark Ren and the stress of the whole situation, suddenly he finds relief when dark Ren takes over and DR lives for this and thats a comfortable heart rate for him while dishing out the verbal preamble.
The part where Ren swaps places with kujo for me represents Sick boi being held captive, but it also happens on the beat of the word NIGHTMARES, for me that symbolised Ren can control his emotions during the day however at night his sub conscious can't be controlled and sick boi is still playing on his mind in nightmares. There is so much imagery conjured up in these lyrics and the visuals. What a f**king delight to see it.

I’m so thankful I have a physical copy of the Sick Boi CD. As someone with many of the same health issues as Ren, this song being taken away from him is such a detrimental blow in numerous ways. Sick Boi was a huge tool for Ren to process the physical, mental, and emotional pain he endured. Hell…still endures. I can attest from my personal experience with chronic illness of how much effort that man puts into every waking moment with his health. Kujo didnt just hurt Ren, he hurt and enraged an entire community. Ren will come out on top, but i can’t even imagine how soul tiring this is for him.

I didn't know you knew Ren personally. I thought that may lead you to a bias, but you didn't. You added value to the meaning and knew some behind the scenes that gave greater understanding, explaining some of the legal and personal battles Ren faced.
The only thing it that I do not think Ren unleashed his dark side, I think he melded the dark and the light to give a well-deserved diss. The threat at the end seemed like the light Ren was prepared to vacate so the dark could fully step in.

What an incredible piece of art. Intense, dark and the message was popping. I didn’t expect the choir…. the strings and that crazy bass and heartbeat. The pig mask morphing in and out of Kugo’s greedy face. Just Wow. What a beat down. I hope he can get the original choir on the new Sick Boi remake.
Personally, I don’t think I could have been as measured and restrained as Ren has been throughout the whole attempt to get a resolution. He tried his heart out. You can’t reason with people who don’t know how to think past his greed.
They must have thought Sick Boi was their giant golden egg. In this case that egg hatched into one righteously PO’d dragon.

I also believe that as an artist, if a money hungry compulsive liar and proven thief (Kujo the Coward), was trying to claim my art as his own; he’d be a pile of ash.
I can’t believe Kugo is now Publicly Saying he’s a songwriter on Sick Boi in his own discography over on the Beat Stars platform. Is he seriously that DUMB?
I hope there are serious legal repercussions for his false claims. It’s time to pull him up and teach Kujo to keep his fingers off other artists creations. I doubt this is his first shake down of an artist. Claiming credit as a writer for Sick Boi when it’s REN’s life story is beyond low.
