That’s a common thing in some menus in Vietnam, Cambodia, N, S Korea.! No one is excited about it, just another dish.
I just saw the news recently says south Korea just passed a law to ban dog meat!

As China is middle class now and have dogs as pet, they don't eat it anymore. If getting euthanized anyway, meat is meat, though still taboo, like eating horse is in U.S.
Michele Ponte was in Vietnam a month ago, full bbq dogs (and cats) on display in the street stalls, so if people say China eats dogs, say they must mean Vietnam.
Eat horse is a taboo in the U.S.? Is it illegal though? Or just a taboo, because I think in some regions in China people eat horses as well!

@@LeoYangDiary Horses were never eaten in Europe and USA, they were always used as a vehicle or for pulling heavy things (also for racing, etc). They are not eaten. When it comes to dog meat, I always think about south-east Asian region (plus N.Korea?) rather than China as a whole and only country. It's more "Asian" thing I think rather than just only "China thing". Also glad to hear that consuption of dog meat is not as popular as it used to be in China, at least in the big cities.
I belongs to Bodo community Northeast Indian tribe. We don't eat cow dog cat horse snake monkey. We eat pig chicken fish goat deer boar.... But Christian people eat them all.

Not really. It had been published that, in US Pacific Islands, dog meat consumption is normal ...... just like dog meat consumption in the Alpine region of Europe. So, they are not really the " hot " ones . They are the real ones.
@@JohnThomas-x7q Europeans eat dogs too? To the best of my knowledge, the Vietnamese are the greatest dog meat consumers; you wouldn't find any stray dogs around Vietnamese neighborhood.😋😋😋😋

I have been living in China for 11yrs and no one I know eat dogs. Neither are they available in the market anywhere. Just normal beef pork chicken lamb etc are available. First u say you don't eat dog and neither does anyone you know but then you state out all the bs giving the impression that Chinese are eating dog meat on a massive scale. So I'm really disappointed in your video. It's a load of bs

玉林荔枝狗肉节 Lychee and Dog Meat Festival is a festival in a part of southern China called Guanxi. It is celebrated to this day. Dog is not sacred like cows in some countries. As more people own some animals as pets, people grow affinity to it and eat it less. However, food is food whether tiger, bear, fish, dog, cow, pig, etc. It has nothing to do with civilization, but cultural preference and if an animal species is born lucky enough not to be eaten by other animals, like us humans.
