  • I believe that using a root shadow, tap or melt has made highlights and bleaching such a stress free and easy to maintain look. I love using Schwarzkopf toners for a Root Shadow to achieve the look. You can easily combine a root shadow technique with a root tap for a flawless look.

    My first time in 10 years going blonde and also did a BIG 10 inch chop to a medium length blunt bob 2 weeks ago. I told my new stylist I wanted a balayage but now, because my hair is short I wish I had more blonde closer to my root. I go back in 8 weeks and definitely telling her I want a root tap. I want as much blonde as I can get as close to my root but without that harsh demarcation line. I don’t mind going back more often as I need to anyway to maintain my cut. I wish I knew about what a root tap was this first time.

      Hi Wendy, Thank You so much for watching! If you are unsure of your natural level just compare it to a natural color chart. You could probably even look for one online. You section vertically to tone? If so that’s ok as well. Sometime I’ll even section diagonally on thin hair, to prevent any noticeable lines.

    Kristy, First of all, I love your videos!!!
    Just a suggestion, for some of the viewers that are critical on color videos, you may want to point out that the color you're seeing on your screen may not be the actual color because the tint control on ones device screen is not always true to color. As a matter of fact, it is near impossible to get true color on any device screen. However, you may be able to get close. My thoughts as a expert colorist. I mirrored your video on my TV from my computer and was amazed by the color difference. Keep up the great work.

My natural color is a great color and bleach highlights look great with it. So my question is if a stylist does a tap on you how long does it last?

      Hi Sophie, Thank you I’m going to try to get a new video out every week. In a couple of weeks I’m going to upload a video dedicated to grey coverage.
      You can do this depending on the amount of grey you have. A Vibrance toner will probably cover 30 to 50% of grey. So if you do this you will probably want to use the same color of your base. If you want you can send me a pic of your hair on Instagram and I’ll take a look.

    I've been using a 6nn and 7nn for years as my base color. I've done highlights - triied some bleach but now Iz'm going gray. I had grown out a lot of gray - tempted to "go gray" I left the bangs and side pieces to the side and used a 10nn and it looks great! Now my gray is coming back. Could I put the Ash blonde on the whole head? I know I cant lighten my brown but wiil it brighten it? Then tap brown on regrowth .. i am at an awkward state

    An ingenious idea to use temporary colourants such as this (Igora mousse) to do root shadow, melt etc.! :) I've only seen people using permanent dyes to achieve these effects ;) Well, of course it also depends on whether you want the result to be permanent or not, but this is a great way to start, and great idea for a refreshing change, anyway.

  • @ChloeGraciela
    @ChloeGraciela Год назад +3

    Thank you for this. So helpful. My stylist will do my roots with color (cover some grays) while at the same time apply highlights/lowlights. However, it always leaves me with that stripy, demarcated look, that I absolutely hate, no matter how I part my hair. Its not until I get that slight root growth that I like my hair, lol. Do you think it’s better to do highlights first, then root tap afterwards? Not sure why he doesn’t do it that way.

      When I have gotten my hair highlighted, and the root tap or root shadow, they do the highlights and then do the roots at the bowl. Recently, the girl who did my hair moved so I went to someone new and here I am trying to figure out how to do it myself. She only did the highlights, and I hate the stripy look. I tried to part my hair 10 different ways and it’s just horrible. I just left Sally beauty with a Demi permanent and some clear gloss and I’m going to attempt to do this myself.

    • @ChloeGraciela

      I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way!!! I though I was going crazy!!! Yes, no matter how I part my hair, it doesn’t matter. • @michsand

    If you are covering your greys with one of these procedures you need to use a permanent to make sure it actually covers them. How would that work? Would you in the last 10 minutes of processing comb it through towards the highlights. I am a bit confused. I do my own tint and get the foils done every 3 months.

    • @kristymaccone7045
      @kristymaccone7045  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mich
      Well there are two ways to go about this.
      1- if you are covering grays as a root touch up. I would tackle this as a normal regrowth application with a permanent hair color and definitely not overlap or bring the product down to the rest of the hair strand. This could darken the existing color. And you shouldn’t see the need to do so.
      2- if you are covering gray as a root touch up and also doing highlights. I would cover the gray as one process like mentioned above and then after that highlight and once processed apply the root shadow, tap or melt; with the toner of choice.
      Note: if the gray is not more than 30% or resistant you can definitely just highlight and then proceed to shadow, tap or melt the regrowth with your Demi permanent toner of choice.
      I hope this helps.
