- Hello everyone!!! Welcome or welcome back to my channel! In today’s video I’m sharing my Monthly Planty Updates for the month of May 2024.
Every month, in the middle of the month, we take a look at all the new things. Whether it’s plant growth, new plants, or new planty things like planters, stands, etc.
This is a way to keep you guys updated on how my plant collection is doing and possibly share some great finds.
We'll also take a walk, for the first time this year, outside to look at the gardens and more! And then finally at the end of the video, I'll show you two plants and if you want to, you can tell me which of the two you prefer...which is your favorite. Just a fun thing I like to do to get to know what sort of plants you guys are into.

Happy Sunday everyone!!! I apologize for this turning out to be over an hour long. I don’t know how that happens lol. But at the end of the video we’re playing “what’s your favorite” where I show you two different plants and then, if you want to, you can share which of the two plants you prefer, or which is your favorite. I’m worried that it’s going to be missed since it’s at the end of a long video. Just a heads up 🥰. Thanks for watching this long video 💚💚💚.

Don't you just love Spring? Watching indoor plants take off and outside perennials pop. Loved this update, and your yard and fence is beautiful. I loved both the syngonium and monstera but I am voting on the syngonium ❤

Thanks! I absolutely love that cabinet. I have a feeling it will be constantly changing from plant growth...or I'll just be doing lots of cutting often LOL. They are growing beautifully in there.

I really enjoyed watching our bluebird’s birdhouse activity each year when living in the Tulsa area. Enjoy your chickadees. I vote for the syngonium.
Hi, Terri! Seems like it won't be until next year that we get some pairs nesting in the boxes. I think they've already found their nesting spots. But I'm excited to see what happens. I just love those little birds. We do have bluebirds around here but I haven't seen them. They don't come into the neighborhood. I think they like open fields. Thanks for sharing your favorite!! :)
@@ThePinkTrellis see if your husband will make a bluebird house. Set it up away from any trees and facing the right direction. You might be surprised.

Beautiful plants! My syngonium lanc leaf does the same thing, I thought for sure it must have a pest, but you're right, That's just how it is!

I use glass wide mouth floral vases for my mosquito bits water. You can tell if they’re fresh, because when you place in water they have a strong kerosene-like smell. So, a one to 1 and 1/2 quart glass, I use not T more than 2 tablespoons of bits. I let them soak overnight and water with the mosquito bit water the next day. They last for months and you can tell when they are spent. They get a funky dark brown color, so you know they are done. I always keep the bits covered in water all the time. When first using them they float on top of the water, wait awhile for them to settle to the bottom. I never use water cans for the bits, because you need to see them to skip m off the water. Also, watering can spouts trap the bits and it can become a nightmare process. The bits stick to plastic, but not glass.

Hi Gena. Yes your begonia cabinet is so pretty. Escargot is cool. I love the combination of all of them. I got 2 little plug in fans with light and sticky traps. That has really helped the gnats slow down. I want one of your passifloras, so cute! Everything is looking gorgeous ✨💕🧚🏻♀️🍄✨
Hi, Tina! I have one of those lighted fan things too to suck in the gnats. It works! And sticky traps work too. The Passiflora is a fun one...soo pretty too. Thank you so much :).

Finally i have confirmation of the Chocolate smell on the compacta. Now i am going to have to get one😂
The variegated one has a stronger chocolate smell than my non-variegated. Could just be my plant is a weirdo and doesn’t have as nice of a chocolate smell as the variegated lol.

Methinks with the drippy hoyas dripping nectar all over the place, I would be inclined to put it outdoors for the hummingbirds to enjoy. They look like something they would like. Great to see your outdoor garden. I also love outdoor plants. For your plant survey, I pick the syngonium... because that particular one resembles an Alocasia and I don't why it is, but I have a thing for leaves on long stems.

So many fantastic blooms! My hoyas are still small so I have to wait. Here in Poland this type of caliistophylla is called "Black cat".
I’ve seen it listed on Etsy as black cat! Good to know it’s the same thing 😊.

So many of your hoyas are blooming. I LOVE the Obavada even if mine has not bloomed for me yet. And your Keriiiiiiiiiiiiiii really is a beast!!! Everything you have growing is doing so well!. Crazy weather here. Going from shorts to long pants boots and hoodies. was 29 degrees the other morning. Day before it was 75 degrees. Yesterday I had to wear a jacket all day even though I was trimming a huge tree in my back yard. I LOVE those rocks. Gorgeous edging!
OHHH MY choice is for sure the Syngonium Chipense. Butchered the spelling.
That 29 degree temp would annoy the heck out of me. Luckily we haven't been dropping below 40. Although I'm seeing a 37 low one day this week...urgh. Hopefully that doesn't happen. We have the AC running right now LOL. Thanks...the rock turned out really nice. Derek had the vision and he was right about it...I wasn't as sure. It looks so natural.....I love it!

Hi Gena! This is the toughest choice yet! Both plants are gorgeous, but I’m picking the variegated chiapense. It’s at the top of my wishlist. I’m in awe of your beautiful collection - I don’t know how you manage to keep them all looking so happy. What sun exposure does your Thai pink get? It looks so healthy.
Hi, Cheryl! I agree it's a VERY tough one!!! The thai pink is in a southeast window. It gets that morning and very early afternoon sun. I used to have it in a Northwest window and it suffered terribly. I moved it further back from that window and it did better but wouldn't bloom. I moved it to the southeast window and I have blooms!!!! It definitely doesn't want direct sun in the later afternoon, but morning has been just fine. Thank you!!!! :) Oh and a lot of work and some luck too, to keep them looking happy :).

Mosquito Bits in standing glass watering jars, kills all the fungus knats.
Hi, Paul! How much mosquito bits do you put in? Ratio to water? I've been thinking about doing that. In fact, I think I have some mosquito bits I can use unless they are expired now (if they expire) I've had them for a couple of years now and never used them.
