As a fellow umpire who is excited by the replay technology, I really hope the MLB gets their shit together and expands the situations which can be overturned. I can guarantee you the plate ump had no way of seeing Turner kick that ball. If the replay allowed them to judge intent, which there clearly was, it would allow them to make the correct ruling which is that it should be a ball (not hit by pitch) and the run which scored should have to go back to 3rd, and the other runner would have to go back where they started too. It seems like these ridiculous limitations are a half-measure that should be expanded.
Agreed. We have replays, we have new York review, if something is obvious on the replay, overturn it. No one feels good about this everyone can see the batters intent. So I trust the mlb will fix this, they have been good about rule updated and adapting to new technology especially when postseason heartbreaks make it obvious that the sport needs to progress in this area and this will go down as example A in the meetings, even if takes example B and C it will eventually get fixed it just seems like we can move swifter on this. The NFL calls it indisputable evidence and they do a good job of only overturning when it's obvious and the mlb needs to introduce that same, necessary, grey area.
I agree. I don’t see why the rules still hold back on reviewing certain plays but not others.
The same shit goes for NBA replays too. There are many instances where a no-call should be called a foul but the refs can only call the out-of-bounds rulings(or the other way around).

By the way everything the Braves pitchers throw is a ball unless the Dodgers swing at it. Bryse Wilson threw a ball right down the middle tonight and it was a ball, and that was just the worst example. Tons of other great pitches (not close to the zone, INSIDE the zone) they got hosed on.

So basically a few bad calls and a dumb replay rule screwed the Braves over. Yep, sounds like professional sports. For a minute, the previous game, the ump was doing so well that I thought he was using an ear piece linked to someone watching video of the digital strike zone, like they should do in the post season. Nope. I know that the Nfl has at least one post-season only rule, why not this ancient sport.
The braves couldn't score shit so there was that too if you care to mention all the excuses

so if the ump hadnt missed those 2 strikes the inning would have ended right there, also someone didn't see the player stick out his foot and kick the ball. Why can't there be someone like in a booth or soemthing letting the ump know whether it was a ball or strike or whatever is happening. tired of seeing teams get screwed by umpires (who are probably betting on the outcome of the game anyway)

He's a rookie in his second postseason game. He went from a 0 run 6.2 inning game to this. It is absolutely heartbreaking to any pitcher but especially a rookie. He also couldn't locate his best pitch to save his life. Also Braves Twitter is ruthless and he knew they would completely forget about his last outing. I would have been doing the same thing, and the umpire made it worse on him by far.

So if they don't go to replay the run would have scored and it would be 8 nothing. And if they are allowed to determine he didn't try to move then the runners stay put and he wouldn't get a hbp it would simply be a ball. That being said if Turner gets out they dodgers still scored 7 which is more than the braves scored all game
