Ayy up Marcus and Kat,Great vlog there was a mk1 RS 2000 with a cosy engine running around Wakefield a few years ago in white with the blue stripes. Looked as well as it sounded.it over took me on a duel cartridge way as tho I was standing still very fast car.
Hi Marcus Could I have Jeff phone if he is happy with that, as I need a wire loam for my mk2 Escort, front to back , also running under wing, if you don't mind, thanks Marcus
Lovely mk1, the reason for fitting the engine back further in the car is weight distribution. Too much weight forward of the front axle is not helpful, mk1/2 with a pinto or yb are nose heavy. Have a look at the zakspeed cars and see how far back the engine is. That said its a road car so not really going to notice it being where it is
Very true. As you say for a road car its defo better to just keep things simple and save the hassle of cutting the bulkhead etc. The understeer from the heavy front end can usually be overcome with a heavier press on the loud pedal!! 😃
English axle is good for 150 hp going over that you are asking for trouble why go for the expensive cosworth when you only using a third of the power could have put a nice pinto 180hp a lot cheaper than the cosworth and as far as 4 link boxes they look to be in correct position 1/2 inch from chasis and boxes should be put in at an angle to link bars knocking on the side of boxes I would suggest putting an alloy brace on the english axle as the atlas there are plenty of shops making these plus putting group 1 shafts 2 piece with 18t would help a lot but I wouldn't entertain english straight in with fully floating atlas will take all the power of cosworth with a 4.6 diff I wouldn't recommend higher ratio you will be increasing torque
400 is too much? Welp, no way Marcus has finally become Anorak himself. Noooooo 🤣 What next? Re-purchase Roger the plastic fiesta, give up rwd and calling going sideways "Stupid"? 😂😂

Great work 👏

You can never have too much Horsepower. Just not enough traction.
Very true!! 😃
The Lancia is an S4 not an Integrale. Massively different cars.
Thanks for the info! 👍 I just assumed they were all called intergrale, but I'm certainly no expert.

English axle is that gonna take the power
We shall see! 🤔
Nooooooooooo
Someone I know ended up with a 9inch ford because that was 480-500bhp even a atlas axle was struggling
I've got a english with yb with 350bhp and it's been fine it's uprated as much as you can to a english
My pals Cosworth was 750hp, tuned by Jackie Stewart, i dont see why the Escort cant be similar power.
Nowadays, the difference between 400hp and 750hp on these engines is roughly double the cost. Difference between spending £10k and £30k+ on an engine.

If I were building it would ditch the turbo think it’s overkill for a lightweight mk1
Nope there lots of fun 😁
an n/a Cossie in a Mk1 is mega BUT part of me thinks that a YB isn't complete without a turbo hanging off it. 👍

Yes building 'Heidi' as a standard-ish car has made me finally grow up! . . . . . . . it hasn't! 🤪
