- This is Age of Mythology Retold. In this Mythical Battle mission, we take on the role as the hero Reginleif. From her perspective, we get to see what takes place as Gargarensis takes over the North, while Arkantos and the rest of the heroes are in Egypt. Our task is to destroy Gargarensis' base to the north. He will rally the giants of Folstag and Muspell to help him fight against us. Real nice to watch the Reginleif POV (and a full norse gameplay too XD)
i like that they have the same tiny ice island for Folstag from the golden gift campaign
I really like those small callbacks:
- Folstag saying "Come my brothers"
- Gargarensis paraphrasing his quote from Amanra rescue mission "what is this, an army threatening our walls."
- Gargarensis reciting the same real life poetry ("Lepanto" by G.K. Chesterton)
- Njordsir, but that's more like sticking to the original non-hero characters.
I think we can expect more callbacks like these for the mythical battles. I find it super cool!
Using the same name for what is basically a one off unit/name shows they really care about the continuity
Even though I personally wanted him to be a more legitimate hero unit, I guess they wanted to stay consistent with how he wasn't given that treatment in the OG game

I am just thinking that why there is not Chineese civilization in aom retold but freyr in (norse ) is really awesome. Also want to see civilizations from aztec and japan and persian and hindi and ..........
Given the poor reception from the Chinese due to its unbalanced, lack of originality and just overall downgrade in quality, I think the Devs wanted to play it extremely safe and not have the Chinese civ at launch and focus on the more beloved civs and change those first
I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft was OK with Chinese coming later for that extra money but at the same time, they really needed a massive overhaul
