Absolutely and the Packers cleaned them up in Detroit a few weeks later. The Vikes were even competitive with Nick Mullens. If there was a prop for the Lions to come 4th in the North I'd bet that.

I think a more interesting debate would have been whether this game was the 3rd most important of Rogers' career after his SB and the NFC championship game against Brady's Bucs. Not to imply that Brady is a whole team or that any one person can be, but that 7th SB win for Brady, coming against Mahomes and having just beat Rogers and Brees really set his legacy at an insane level. That game was the chance to take ownership of the league's premiere face from Brady. Instead he goes down (even with Brady's terrible 2nd half), the Bucs beat the Chiefs and after a year of confusion it's clear that Mahomes inherits the "Face of the NFL's greatness" from Brady. (Aaron Donald as a non-quarterback in a QB-focussed league had a chance to take it from Brady which would have been a hell of a thing, but his Rams lost.) Rogers wanted to be ThatGuy, and he wasn't and now he never will be. This MNF game didn't give (or cost) Rogers a Superb Owl, and it didn't win him or lose him the coveted "Face of the League's Greatness" (unofficial) title, but that game had the chance of ending his career. Kaput, over, done. Rogers has never faced a game like that before. Never. He played behind The Gunslinger, and so even if he played poorly in relief, there was always time to let him mature and develop behind Favre. None of those early games could have ended him. And when he moved into the starting spot, we know now and they knew then that Rogers had a special arm. One or even a few bad games were not going to kill his career once he became Green Bay's starter. This was different. He's had his mulligan with an injury year (or call it redshirting if you don't like mixing sports metaphors). The coach has been fired. Rogers was brought in to win the division and make noise in the playoffs. He himself is playing to win a Super Bowl (though obviously Jets fans standards are not as high, at least for surviving Jets fans). There's nothing left for him in the NFL if he can't dominate his division. This is why Brady left, too. Brady still was a competent starting quarterback, and under him the Bucs would have been competitive in their division. But there was nothing left for Brady except winning another Super Bowl. When that was no longer reasonably possible, he hung it up. Rogers is there. He has nothing to play for except Super Bowls and legacy-changing games, and bless him, but with the Jets he can't do it. Maybe he could with another team, but he'll never get another chance to go to another club and start over. Monday night was his chance to show that he still had something left to play for, that there was still some reason for his career to continue. I haven't watched the game, and I know it was close, but he's not playing to lose competitively. If he can't beat division opponents at home, his career is over. And, of course, the conversation you had was prospective. The close game might make my case somewhat arguable, but in the prospective conversation about how important that game was, that would just be moving the goalposts. The threat to his career would be the same, the importance of the game would be the same, you would just be arguing that he needed to be blown out for his career to be over and just reasonably compete at home to maintain an interest in football. I don't think that Rogers can maintain his focus if he can't be the best. I think we've seen that in other years. I actually think it says something good about him that football is not the only thing in life that he cares about. But he's rich and he's over 40 and continued play risks an injury that can affect his quality of life for every day he has remaining in this world. He has a lot to lose and he no longer has anything to win. This MNF game was the very last relevant game of Rogers' career.
Which QB in the NFC North do you believe in the least? It SHOULD be Caleb Williams. I'd be most confident in Jared Goff, then Sam Darnold and then Jordan Love. Not confident in Caleb, at all. That defense, though....
Vikings will be coming off the bye week 5-1 after Sunday and every team that has played the Lions has been decimated the week after, so Vikings a lock to be 5-2 after next weekend. I think he might be right about them being the odd team out in the NFC North. It’ll depend on how they recover from their 2 game losing streak.
I had a feeling that Vikings take would come. Yet, one thing missing from that discussion, is the Vikings remaining schedule. They are at least 10 wins, right? Does that mean you need 11 to get in?
@@Simplythefacts123 nobody is trying to be original and it’s not a hot take to say that ask fans from all 31 other teams how they feel about the chiefs and the refs what’s unoriginal is you bandwagon fans who were silent before Reid and Mahomes got there
The reason the Vikings are 5-0 is because the defense has been outstanding. San Damond has been mediocre at best. He just hasn’t made the big mistake yet.

The Lions, without Hutchinson, are likely a bit diminished. Mahomes has proved he doesn't need any specific player to be dominant. Chiefs #1 until they prove otherwise.
This is revisionist history. Sure, he doesn't need ulta specific names, but that guy was curb stomped by the Buccs when he didn't have a great O-Line at his disposal. People gotta stop acting like Mahomes does it on his own because it ain't true
@zaneplatt3533 🤦♂️😅You literally pick the one game which was a perfect storm... You're embarrassing yourself kid. Mahomes has literally won the last two Superbowls with Kelce, a 7th rd RB and a couple journeyman WRs. Just say your a jealous hater and move on😅
I share the sentiments as the british bears fan! Slowly defecting from broncos to bears after 30 years! So DEFINITELY share the sentiment! (For those who accuse me of bandwagoning I was loyal for 30 years!)
26:23 I agree, though I think it has more to do with the fact that through the first six years of his NFL career Lamar WAS the Ravens offense. Now Derrick Henry is a massive part of the offense and people will you use that to discredit Lamar's production. With that said, it is not an overreaction to say that Lamar will win his 3rd MVP because I think there are two clear ways he could do so. 1. The Ravens get the No.1 seed in the AFC AND/OR 2. Lamar becomes the first player in NFL history to have 4k+ passing yards and 1k+ rushing yards. Like how with Tyreek if he had gotten 2k receiving yards he would have been the OPOY over CMC, a stat like that would make Lamar the undisputed MVP imo.
More than that. Even if you think they're going to get beat up in the division, they have a decent chance at 6 wins by the time the division games start. 8 or 9 is most likely.
The Bears have the best defense in the division and arguably the highest level of talent on offense. Minnesota has the best overall team including coaching on both sides of the ball. GB has the deepest team and the Lions have the best Oline and Running game. All teams are well constructed and playing great complementary football. We will know who is who once they play each other.
Re - Vikings overreaction on not making it out of the north. Let's look at some stats! Only two teams in the NFC have given up 100 points or fewer through week 6 - Vikings and Lions. Only one other team is within 5 points of 100, the Chicago Bears at 101. The Packers have given up 121, tied with the Giants. All four might not make it to the playoffs, but there is a real strong case that 3 teams from the North make the playoffs.
Am I the only one that saw the Lions win the division last year by winning 2 late season games against a 4th string Vikings QB? Oh, yeah, which of the fan favorites beat the Niners two years in a row? Sad to see Aiden go down, seems like a quality person and don't wish bad injuries to any one.

And they completely steamrolled the both of 'em (I also suspect the Jags aren't actually *this* bad & will start playing up to their talent level once the coach & coordinator heads start rolling). I try not to get too excited about anything, but the way they did it gives me some hope at least.
Jaguars fan spotted 🤣 hopefully yall beat the Patriots 👍
Patiently awaiting that Rich Eisen airport hoodie during the next RES merch drop
Thank you Rich
Hoodie Rich is the vibe needed for this pod
Over reaction Monday gets me through my Tuesday morning coffee from Scotland lobe what yous do
Yes, let's all say the Lions/Vikings are the best teams in the NFL to keep things interesting during the regular season. Then the Chiefs enter the playoffs...
And lose
Is anybody else bored of rhe chiefs or is it just me. I enjoyed the patriots winning but I just can't get behind the chiefs winning at all it's ruining football for me lol
Its pronounced "Battle Roy-al....not battle royal..Love the show
Jeeeez its been too long Rich. Welcome Back
Rich you are the best, Chris, you crack me up with some of your Overreaction segments very funny at times... otherwise, all is good. Good News about 49ers Ricky 'Bullet Proof' Pearsall is back in practice and should be ready for the Dallas game and maybe someone else who's been missing since training camp... but I'll let both of you guess who it is.
sidenote, Rich just flipped out, thinking that the mediocre this year's version is not of championship quality at least in my opinion watched how Mahomes is moving in the pocket and it isn't pretty... The Niners are the hungrier team here and the chiefs are standing in the way.
This season more than anything I want the Bears to reward Brockman's faith in them being really good. Thank you for the love, from a delusional Chicago fan. 😁
That's four 1 win teams down, and only the Pats left on the schedule. Now they'll have to start playing real teams.
Finish 8 and 9; and lose out to some other team like atlanta or eagles.
Hey Brockman, you looked really nice today with your top button buttoned once again. Rich came in looking like a slob in a hoodie meanwhile I could see your dome was buffed and shined. This really should be your show at this rate. You are twice the man Rich is. Keep up the good work. Big hugs and tiny kisses xoxo
People forget the bears almost swept the lions last yr if it wasn't for some bad coaching in the last 3 mins of the game last yr....keep buying into the lions
People don't forget that the bears didn't and sat on the couch in January. 😂 I'm thinking the bears are a legit team but acting like this is why yall get laughed at. Finish a game off dont make * for losses its goofy. We play yall twice a year so it's put or shut up.
@@JaredBruski lions sat on the couch for 50 yrs an until they win a sb they still be the lions ...thanks for playing tho
Absolutely and the Packers cleaned them up in Detroit a few weeks later. The Vikes were even competitive with Nick Mullens. If there was a prop for the Lions to come 4th in the North I'd bet that.
@@robe2504 lol 😆 love that packers think never being in the lead and trailing the whole game is "being competitive" 😆 👌🏻
DETROIT LIONS LFGGGG
I’m starting to believe in conspiracy theories now. Tampa bay was nailed by a hurricane and dropped 51 points and no one is talking about it. Like they want everyone to forget about Tampa like North Carolina. Just got my power back today.
why is it that every body keep bringing up the bears schedule but no one else’s who have the commanders beat or the packers
Welcome back rich
The headline we overreact to next week:
After Baltimore beats Tampa Bay next Monday night, we’re going to be saying that the Buccaneers are pretenders
I think that’s a reach. Lamar is 21-1 vs the NFC.
Man U hate bucs haha
lol i don't have to wait...I'm saying it now lmfao
Bucs are likely either a called face mask or recovered fumble away from being 5-1 rn, they just put up 50. I’m not saying they’re SB favorites but to say they’re pretenders is wild.
@@andrewcolletti3193 Definitely the best team in the NFC South and it's not close.
Jerry is ALL IN!!! ALL IN to win the Super Bowl!!! Dak is ALL IN!!! ALL IN on 60 million a year!!! Having the highest paid franchise QB is good isn't it?? 😂😂😂
In his defense he did say he was all in on those young players on the roster. 😵💫😂
as a Vikes fan I LOVE the take of Over Reaction on them. Totally a Vikings thing to do so yes....I too think they will miss the playoffs *nods head in agreement*
"Biggest game of Rodgers' career!" is the worst overreaction of the season so far. That's going to be tough to beat.
Hahaha. Rich said I’m old and tired so I’m having coffee at 2 pm. 😂
Rich still maintaining that Rodgers didn’t get his coach fired is honestly commendable levels of doubling down
What was flukey about the vikings lol. Brockman hasnt watched them
Out of sight; out of mind. He’s been slobbering all over them the past few weeks. After they tame the Kitties he’ll slobber again. It’s why it’s called “Over Reaction Monday”.
Wait wait wait, if the UK supports ORM, we need a Brit accent added to the intro- “that was Bollocks” or something ( please!)
Joe Alt should have legit rookie of the year consideration
If Williams and Daniels keep balling out, then it will be one of them. QB league..
Truth!
I was one of those people saying Caleb Williams would be a bust. After six weeks, I can say I was wrong. Way wrong. Caleb looks like the real deal. Not to Stroud's rookie season level, but he definitely looks the part. Hopefully the Bears organization doesnt ruin him.
I love my Lions, but we played against two teams missing 3-4 of their best starters on defense. The 5-0 Vikings coming off a bye week will be a true litmus test of the Lions offense. Unfortunately I think we much more likely to lose that game now that we are missing Davenport and Hutch, but hopefully they prove me wrong next Sunday.
Lions vikings will be game of the year
Kirk Cousins got hurt last year when the Vikings were picking up steam. Picking the Bears over Vikings this season is ridiculous. I'm not even a Vikings fan. One doesn't have to be to see what they're doing.
yay rich is back home
Miles Garrett will be a Lion by Thanksgiving.
Spicy
Just saying the Lions will trade for a premier edge is spicy let alone Garrett
The rumor is that they will saddle the deal with Watson. You guys should be on the horn with LV. I’m a bird ls fan but cheering for you guys outside of the game against the Eagles.
Or Maxx Crosby
(💙 97) that would be massive .. even for the future of ONE PRIDE
“I’ll be back in time…” is the most appropriate response to an overreaction.
No Rich, Henry would win OPOY. If Lamar keeps doing what hes doing, he will throw for 4000 yards and rush 1000 yards.
I dont think rich know the numbers lamar have and what he on pace is..over 5500 total yards..i dont think purdy had over 1000 yards rushing last year...
@@angelopinagomes1591 not to mention, Lamar will be #1 all time in rushing yards lol. 5000 isnt happening tho
@@Oceanz08 if he gets 4000 passing yards and 1000 he will have 5000 total yards..i think he will get it man...they are going to keep stack the box for henry en he going to keep doing what he is doing the last 2 weeks and if they dont do it he and henry going to run it..it took them a couple of weeks to figure it out but the have it now..
@@angelopinagomes1591 no no, im saying 5000 yards PASSING isnt gonna happen lol.
OPOY typically goes to the best non-qb given that MVP should really be named QB of the year.
I done got to the point where the rich show is better then the rest
I took Henry at 15 in our 12man 1/2ppr fantasy league and it feels like a steal at this point.
The difference between the Lions winning and the chiefs winning is that the Lions are winning without having the refs in their pocket..
Another difference is that the Chiefs keep doing it in the post season, and the Lions not so much.
@@robe2504if you need the refs to get to the post season...🤷♂️
Unoriginal
@@Simplythefacts123 nobody is trying to be original and it’s not a hot take to say that ask fans from all 31 other teams how they feel about the chiefs and the refs what’s unoriginal is you bandwagon fans who were silent before Reid and Mahomes got there
@@tylerfluegal6104 I get it. Only way you can cope is to blame the refs for chiefs sustained dominance
The reason the Vikings are 5-0 is because the defense has been outstanding. San Damond has been mediocre at best. He just hasn’t made the big mistake yet.
I have been to Britain on a number of rugby trips coming home is always harder
Hi Rich, Lions fan here. I'm glad you are calling the Lions good, but...what about Matt Araiza? How long are you going to ignore that?
Let's see Chicago against the better teams they're about to face. They have GB X2, MIN X2, DET X2, SF, SEA. All of their tougher matchups except one are coming up.
Did they say that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is in the middle of nowhere?!?
It's in Northern London... Maybe they were just stuck in traffic, though they could have caught the Tube on the Victoria Line and walked
No mention of Brock Bowers ROY. What a ridiculous segment.
Did Ditka win roy? Only tight end I can think of that might have won one. (good looking player, though)
Yeah I’m a big Maye fan but I think it should be between bowers and Jayden as of right now.
It’s funny that so many new Vikings fans are probably screaming their heads off at Chris for his take about them missing the playoffs, while old Vikings fans are probably shrugging and saying “Yeah that wouldn’t surprise me” 😂
To think the Vikings are going to lose 3 more games than the Packers the rest of the year, and 2 more than the Bears is just insane lol.
The Lions, without Hutchinson, are likely a bit diminished. Mahomes has proved he doesn't need any specific player to be dominant. Chiefs #1 until they prove otherwise.
💯
Chris is such a chiefs hater lol. Chiefs look way better than they did last year even with the injuries
Look the same on offense.
1. The Ravens get the No.1 seed in the AFC
AND/OR
2. Lamar becomes the first player in NFL history to have 4k+ passing yards and 1k+ rushing yards.
Like how with Tyreek if he had gotten 2k receiving yards he would have been the OPOY over CMC, a stat like that would make Lamar the undisputed MVP imo.
I love how the other week k.c was undefeated and bills were number 1 but now their the best again lol
Main problem with the raiders is offensive coordinator and offensive line .
Prediction for next Monday!
Drake Maye outduels T-Law and London is going claim its second head coach in three weeks!
If you want to look at quarterbacks, you should look at how the Vikings defense makes other teams look
Pretty crazy Maye throws for 3tds and 245 yds and people just shrug it off
The bears are improving but they're going to win 6 or 7 games this season.
🤦♂️😅10 win team... sorry.
26:09 Henry didn’t steal the show. Stop slighting Lamar
Bolt Up, Apologies to the Chargers, Rich! I don't know why, I just feel you should!
They still could have taken a quarterback. There were a few that are better than some of the ones picked above.
