I've always admired his style because he's one of the few extreme drummers who can actually groove while playing that fast! Also, it's good to see a musician like him being so friendly and passionate about his gear and his work. Great job!
I did stage hand for Nile at a venue here in Kansas City. When they opened for soulfly. George was really cool. From start to end. He even remember my name. And thank me. At the end. Then seen him again on the 70 k cruise. He said hi and signed my stick. Super cool again.
this guy was the reason i started drumming at the first place......then i realized i never be as good as him and i stopped...but theeen..i bought his dvd...and then i REALLY realized i suck...the end
George simply shreds. I remember reading he teaches at the University of Athens. And that he made his first drum sticks from an olive tree. Either way, this guy is a legend in drumming. I'd love to see you guys cover Derek Roddy's gear!
LOL yeah, but do you have an endorsement deal like he does? No? Me neither. I change mine once a year. Probably should do it twice a year, but given the fact that I have 6 rack toms and 2 floor toms, most of which are an inch increment apart, it makes for a time-consuming and money consuming process. Depends on how much you play and how hard you hit as well. And the brand and model for that matter.
Now that's what a gear tour should be like. Nice guy I love and admire his work. He just forgot to mention the specs on his mic set up/ or triggering systems
last forever ... not gonna change it for 4 weeks 😂😂😂😂 i thought i was playing hard stuff and i keep my head for about 4 month 😂 george is simly a beast
Pro musicians want fresh clean gear and they really like the crisp feel of a newer head. Plus he beats them HARD so he needs to change a little more often
the one difference between mine and your drums is the ramp i dont have, and snare drum...everything else I have is the same as you have...my drums are pearl masters premium maple, pedals, cymbals, drum heads, drum sticks...so, you do great job as endorser :)
Bowen Matheson Axis pedals are kinda light, they're not like Iron Cobras where you can stomp it so hard it breaks your fuckin drum head (I hate seeing Neanderthal drummers doing that). But the beater is a hard plastic that won't melt
Bowen Matheson he has no power without the triggers and these axis pedals --his sound is mediocre at best with anything else= hes an amazing 1trick pony with very little feel u want dynamics check out nick barker or or flo mounier
Erm, when you play upwards of 250bpm 16ths on the double kick, you NEED triggers or it will sound like grade A crap, no matter what drummer is sitting on the stool. If you want to hear him play without triggers on his kicks, go listen to the Burn Out song he did: ruclips.net/video/nLe-qvsy71Q/видео.html Yup, one trick pony.
TheAsomeGuitarist A non ported kick feels a lot different than a ported kick. Not common these days, mostly everyone ports. It has an old school sound/rebound to it and was much more prominent with jazz players. He does have a pillow, however, to deaden things up. I for one use a coated ambassador on my bass drum with absolutely no dampening.
Larry Tate they’re badass for metal (obviously). Very smooth and very responsive, if you’ve never played direct drives they feel a little weird but once you get used to them you’ll never look back
They're like any other Axis pedal with a different tuning system and built in triggers. Like was said, if you're not used to direct drive get ready to relearn how to play. These pedals are also very light.
I'm sure talent is here, however as an owner of a pearl masters series.. Where are the cast hoops that are every pearl masters series ever? The lugs look like export lugs and I see standard steel hoops which is not indicative of master series shells. All good kits, just inaccurate information for a "GEAR" based vlog. I'll post my kit for any trolls that want to question me for some reason, this reply is not meant to tarnish anyone.
Nile's George Kollias shows off his tour drum kit!
Who should we film with next?
Nils fjällström Dark funeral
Digital Tour Bus Tomas Haake!!!!!
Mike Mangini!!
Dennis Chambers.... Well if you havent already
Digital Tour Bus baard kolstad

:)
Ok
He swings like nobody's business! Which is no surprise really considering he's also a great jazz and funk drummer.
Met him a coupla years ago before a show. Such a nice guy for such a monstrous drummer. Hail George \m/
\m/
I talked to George for a few minutes after a show in Salt Lake City. Very kind and humble guy. Great drummer 🤘 Great job with the video.
🤘🤘
Ok

its unfair how underrated this band is. They are awesome.
Definitely an awesome band!
Nice gear run down, okay? Good description without feeling like an advertisement. Thanks George!
Glad you liked it!
Ok
his gear and playing style always fascinates me. And he's sounds so friendly too.
😀😀
this guy was the reason i started drumming at the first place......then i realized i never be as good as him and i stopped...but theeen..i bought his dvd...and then i REALLY realized i suck...the end
That's probably the same story of everyone who bought that DVD. ;)
I'm going to pop it in the DVD player for the first time tonight. I'm ready to burn my drums down in a fit of rage
@@digitaltourbus Nope. Not really. If you quit cause someone else is better then you're playing for the wrong reasons.
George simply shreds. I remember reading he teaches at the University of Athens. And that he made his first drum sticks from an olive tree. Either way, this guy is a legend in drumming.
I'd love to see you guys cover Derek Roddy's gear!
Does Derek Roddy' tour with any bands currently?
I don't believe so. He does do clinics but I don't believe he's actively touring with any bands currently.
He is with Nader Sadek.
I've really appreciated the videos, Nile is one of my favourite bands :D
No problem at all! More Nile videos coming soon! :)
Ok
4 weeks?? i go _years_ without changing drum heads 😂😂

@Diocletian it may only be 12-20 bucks but when it comes time to re head the whole kit...fuck 😔
@@TheWitchOvAgnesi lemme guess... 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 ,18
Haha, dito! But - he surely plays for around 8h+ everyday on those.
Lol I had one for nearly 6 years, but I wasn’t hitting that hard at that time, now I have to change heads every year. But still 4 weeks is crazy 😝
Awesome vid! I bought a set of those axis pedals and George was nice enough to sign a pedal board at a show for me! Super awesome down to earth guy.
That's an awesome story. :)
what a nice and simple man! brutally in love with his gear!
100%
"Hey george.... you want to do a drum tour video?"
George: "uuuhhhh...."
Hes not human ..He has to dummy it down to speak english
Now that's what a gear tour should be like. Nice guy I love and admire his work. He just forgot to mention the specs on his mic set up/ or triggering systems
The mics would've probably been mentioned if the kit was onstage and ready for the show.
I was waiting for this. Thanks !!
No problem!
Organized. Love it
:)
Loving those g2 360's.. i use the same on mine... 10,12,13,14,16.. reverse dot on the snare.. 14.. George is a beast.. amazing drummer...
George is definitely a beast!
The reason i use two snares is, this one is my main snare and this one is for my coffee. Loool! Legend !
🤘
Nice setup, okay.
Glad you liked it!
Love this guy.
He's awesome!
Enjoyed watching this, George is awesome. Great kit! 👍👍🥁😎DC
Glad you liked the video David! 🤘
My favorite drummer in the whole Metal-Scene!!!
Definitely a great drummer!
Always loved the saw blade cymbal
George has the coolest drum kit ever!!!!!!!!
🤘
Love the drummer, adore the man!

The monetary value alone is astonishing!!! Almost as much as georges playing
Hey...I've got the same sized setup! Just trying to decide on what color stain to go with.
Nice thing to know his whole gear !
So glad you liked the video!
I thought Porn wasn't allowed on RUclips?
haha
What the fuck is wrong with you??
@@Hhhlll7778 bro your on the wrong video with the wrong genre to get butt hurt *so* easily.
Drum set abang Kollias gak cuma buat Pajangan tapi bener2 di pakai semua buat semua lagu nile ..
Thanks for watching
Lol
I love this guy!
😀
Beast of a drummer okay! Almost as good as our drummer! : )
:)
What were those in ear headphones he's in love with? Audiophile?

Pearl / Sabian combo is what I used to play
Yeah man I like sabian
great great player!

Nice drum set

People think that the AXIS pedals are the best in the world until they discover the Czarcie Kopyto (devil's hoof) pedals from Poland ;)
No beater pads on the kick heads? Maybe his beaters have a soft material and he doesn't get too out of hand with kick power?
Possibly, I'm not sure.
Bowen Matheson Axis pedals are kinda light, they're not like Iron Cobras where you can stomp it so hard it breaks your fuckin drum head (I hate seeing Neanderthal drummers doing that). But the beater is a hard plastic that won't melt

People seem to be loving the video so far!
I am from Greece second Mike Portnoy i love Kolisa and Portnoy 💯💯
Thanks for watching!
Danny from tool
Is this a request of someone for us to film with?
Digital Tour Bus yes Danny rocks!
I think he plays zildjian cymbals now
i uses the same firecracker D:
5:33 how did he take that off so fast?😂
I don't see any port on his kicks! One of the few death metal drummers I've seen with a full resonant head.
Thanks for checking out the video

Jonah Martinez Maybe internally mic'ed with the Kelly Shu(couldn't see, don't know), or triggers.
@@merendobereglidditz9304 He uses triggers. E-kits, then, and now footblasters.
Damn where can I get that jacket?
Not sure, sorry!
Why do you comment on every damn video?!!
Anybody have his kick pedals?? Thoughts, if so

Did George cut his hair?
He's been with pearl for over 80 years now ? How old is actually George Kollias ?
Pronouncing sabian series is hard
Yes lol
How much does he say uuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
κολλια θεε.
Thanks for watching
"ok" haha
Appreciate you checking out the video
Plays 22s for the sound. Uses triggers.
Leotardoification He blends his natural kick sound with his trigger sample.
@@EvilSewnit But where do they put the mics? Because the front head doesn't have any porthole
Cave batter side I’d imagine.
..."okay"...
"can't compromise the boom of the 22" kick drum".. uses triggers

If you look close at 1:12 (I turned the playback speed down), the lugs are the Swivel Tube Lugs, the snare he’s using is a Reference Pure snare.
The new Masters Complete series sadly don't have Diecast hoops. :( which is why I stick to my Masters MCX kit rather than getting a new Masters MCT
OK
Ok ?
good salesman
what if Pearl did drumheads...
Pearl has Remo to do that for them.
U h h h h h h h
I'm not a drummer I'm a guitarist why wouldn't he stuff the drums.. Or whatever
if i had a dollar for everytime he said "uhhhhh"...
It's probably due to the fact that he has to translate in his head before he speaks.
Digital Tour Bus ^^ take that L
Leo Melnikov exactly
"I cant miss the "boom" from de 22" bass, im more traditional"....
uses triggers.... Fuck logic x'D
Use paiste rude
Paiste Rudes suck. Their crashes suck. Their rides are good though.
I can hear gorillaz in the back
Not SKB fan... poor quality control. I can cut my fingers with my 19" rack doors lol...
Axis isn´t the best pedal, Czarcie Kopyto is the best pedal in the world.
Guerson Bárcenas
Not even. A real Axis set up right is better in almpst every way and also a lot easier to find
Uuuhhhh Hard to listen to with all the uuuuuhhhh
English isn't his primary language. How's your Greek?
Blah, blah, blah. Show us your gear!
he needs some hair.
Every damn Metal drummer I see has a long hair/ponytail..I get sick of it tbh..
OK
