My wife makes a two-stroke sound on the pipe when she's trying to get my attention because she says when she called my name I act like I don't hear her
Guaranteed, if you have a rider that's great on 2 strokes and 4 strokes, and you put a piped and jetted KTM SX150 against any piped and jetted (or tuned?) 250 4 stroke, the 150 would kill it.
Use to get dirt bike magazine up till 2002 every thing 4 stroke do not care for 4 stroke bikes xr Dr alright but racing love the 2 strokes IV rode crf 450 and the yz450f just don't do it for me I growed up in the 80's we all rode 2 strokes great times they were
My take. If you wan't a bike for all around riding like the track, glamis, trails even supermoto, get a 250. The 125 just wont cut it on big hills or at glamis. But if you wan't a bike for fun and don't need to fo to glamis get a 125. Seriously theu are so much fun, makes you feel like a hero whippin around on a 125. I found myself trading my brother bikes so much when he had a 125 and I had a 250. You can take a 125 to the dunes btw, just make sure to buy the right tire and be prepared to work on your engine as it is likely to blow up.
4touchdowns1game old comment, but would the 250 be good for riding around fields and trails maybe a little bit of sand? those would be my conditions lol and which would be easier/less expensive maintenance? I know you need to rebuild top engine every year or 2.
@@TakeThis_L yo sorry man I just saw this. 250 would be your best bet if your gonna ride in sand. 125 is still a good bike but if you ever ever ridden a two stroke it's apparent that a 125 has non existent bottom end so it can be tricky on trails for a newer rider. Two strokes and four strokes both pretty much recommend new pistons, top end maintenance etc at about the same amount of running hours. Beauty of a two stroke though is you can easily do it yourself for cheap. And if you ever did blow a top end the two stroke won't drain your bank account rebuilding it. Only reason I would buy a four stroke is if I was serious about racing, on a track it's just alot easier to do lap after lap on a four stroke without getting tired albeit less fun though. Ripping around a track or trail is as fun as it gets on a two stroke. Another good bike to look at if you want low maintenance and a good trail bike are any of the old xr's. Like the 400 or 650, those things are tanks and will run forever.
@@4touchdowns1game29 Thank you for the wise words man lol, hard to find good advice on bikes. Yeah i'd most likely get a 250 2 stroke then i wouldn't have to sell and upgrade in the future. Thanks again though!
@@TakeThis_L no worries. If you really wanna put a 250 together on the cheap look for any 96 and up yz 250. With a subframe swap and gas tank you can put 2019 plastics on it. Also you can find kayaba sss forks on eBay for around 400 bucks sometimes. Put some sss forks on an old yz 250 and a plastic conversion and you have something that's basically a 2019 yz 250. Here's a guy that updated a 2002. Also another good 250 to look for is a 2001 to 2006 rm 250
@@4touchdowns1game29 That's actually a great idea wow, sounds good man. I'll definitely go that route then. Around my area people ask for way too much for old bikes lol idk why.

Could listen and watch this all day love to Strokes wish the sport would go back to that they should and they could everything is not all about the money is it???
SIdeways Shifter Suzuki has a bad reputation with the reliability of their four strokes. The YZ is probably the most reliable 125 2 stroke you'll find. Obviously, I care about reliability the most. Usually the 250s have a little more power than the 125s. But the RMZ has a pretty weak top end, while the YZ top end is average. So they kinda match up in power. But the YZ probably handles better too. Overall, I think you should just get the YZ.
250 over a 125 any day. Im around the same weight and ride a kx250f, Im not on a 450 cause the compression ratio is lower and its heavier, it really only has a faster top end
For motorcross better 2strock engine more powerfull and fasters. But 4strock engine more suitable use for rally, i mean for long distance journey he he
+Travis Burry There is no disadvantage to a two stroke, just stay in the power band and low end torque becomes a non issue. Two strokes out perform four strokes due to simplicity in design. They are lighter so they handle better, they produce double the horse power 250f vs 250 two stroke and are more explosive in overall power. I see no disadvantage.
+jcussins420 I'm an old school guy, back in my day all dirt bikes were two strokes and DT 250's 125's and 175 Yamaha's everywhere. Even a lot of street bikes were two strokes back then. RD Yamaha's and Kawasaki tripples were ubiquitous back in the 70's. Then some time around the early 80's, the pre-global warming lunatics, along with the Democrats passed legislation banning two strokes for street legal use from entering the country. We can see where that's lead to and for what? Two strokes don't have anymore negative impact on the environment than pellet guns and aluminum beer cans. Of course, the AL Gore crowd has problem with that as well. Anyway, two strokes have always been the best performers in just about any type of racing there is namely motocross.
this might be a stupid question but is the 125cc the same height as a 250cc (going to buy my first dirtbike soon) i'm 6 foot 2 but i'm light so just wondering if theres much of a difference
Chris John Michael in my opinion guys who aren't fast ride faster on four strokes. when your just fast you can ride anything. four strokes ..... I'll never own one again.
Four strokes only came along for price markups and emission scams, 2 stroke is still king and always will be all the pros say they ride 2 strokes at home when they want to have fun and wish they could still race them
Yamaha makes the best sounding 2 stroke hands down
Probably because they excel at making musical instruments.
No stihl make the best sounding 2 strokes
Lmao
I agree
Your opinion
Nothing beats the sounds of 2 strokes racing! Awesome
What amazes me is how badass 2 strokes are and how schitty 4 strokes are.
I went riding at Tower City PA and passed the BOYSEN boys hideout and actually spoke with DAG BOYSEN. Great guy!!

yea for sure, a 150 two stroke would probably almost beat a 250 four stroke stock
KTM 150 and YZ125 are worlds apart, on dirt track the KTM 150 eats a 4t, though if a healthy rider on the YZ125 can also do the same.
