Something has corrupted your recovery partition it would seem, only thing left is to try flashing the box with correct firmware, i suggest contacting your supplier and getting the correct firmware and instructions on what method that box uses to install new firmware. flashing the box with the wrong firmware can kill it so be sure its the correct firmware before you begin.
Check the psu with a multimeter make sure that's not failed. You should get 12 month warranty, my advise stay away from Mxq most are cheap clones and fail after short period because they use cheap components on the motherboard
Hi I have a MXQ box which I purchased around June 2016. It has KODI version 16.0 loaded. I was able to watch Sky Sports via Phoenix & Sports Devil until the start of the current football season. I am now not able to watch Sky Sports. If I follow your video to carry out a hard reset will this enable me to watch Sky Sports? Will it reload Phoenix & Sports Devil? Which addon whould you recommend? Thanks

i don't know what screen it comes to so a little in the dark, but if the box is unusable sounds like something is corrupted, i can only say try flashing it with the correct firmware. be carful, flashing the wrong firmware may brick the box.
Do you mean the remote does not work in the recovery menu? If so you will need a USB mouse or keyboard. If you've done a factory reset and now the remote is not responding you will need to contact your supplier.
Where is kodi mentioned in the title.? Theres no reset on my MXQ smartview box.? Title states hard reset instructions on an mxq box.? The thing isnt even displaying anything, all i get is the blue power light. Any suggestions.?
The reset on a original MXQ box is inside the AUX use a cocktail stick you should hear it click, unclear why kodi has to be in the title? Odds are if you have solid blue light and no HDMI output its soft bricked or hardware has failed. Please bear in mind this guide was made over 3 years ago & smart tv boxes have moved on a lot since these Mxq boxes were manufactured.

Question: I have an MXIII box that I can't hard reset because the reset button doesn't seem to work. It won't bring up the android robot that you show after following the steps you've outlined. It just keeps looping into the SmartTV logo after it flashes "Rebooting" in the lower left hand corner of my tv screen. I tried the simpler method that you discuss in addition to the toothpick. Any suggestions on how to do a different hard reset?
it sounds like something has corrupted the recovery partition, i think you're going to need to flash the box. i strongly recommend you contact the box seller you purchased it from to get the correct firmware and flashing method for your device, its a very risky guessing game getting the correct firmware if you don't get it from your dealer. and you can kill the box if you flash it with the wrong firmware.
Hi I have an MXq box about 18 moths old it will only partially boot I get the MQq logo and shadow and then the MXBOX multicoloured logo and then the tv goes blank. The box looks OK the blue light is on but the TV says searching for signal. Have you any ideas please. Anthony
You may recovery it will a firmware flash, but it could be hardware issue as most of these are cheap clones of the original MXQ Hd18Q. Don't be surprised if its the hardware that's failed they are the cheapest box on the market.
I have the ott box and it worked out perfectly on the first week but after that the display on the screen started looking smaller and isn't working out...then now I can't seem to find the exodus under the videos anymore! Please Help!
Hi Jennie, if you have followed the guide and press reboot that should have restored it back to factory settings, i assume the box has now not got Kodi installed? some sellers simply don't know what there doing i am afraid, if this is the case you will need to do a little research on installing kodi and a wizard i expect would be the easiest method for you if your not sure. hope this helps a little.
Hi , I have 2 M8S boxes. In one I get bbq pit boys, food net work, Laura's Kitchen etc. Under You Tube in Add Ons are a whole bunch of things. On the other M8S none of these work, & it says that You Tube is not configured correctly? It says to go to You Tube.com/activate. How do I configure You Tube so that everything will work? Hi there, I have an M8S 2 box and when I plugged it into a 1080p Samsung TV (around 7 years old) it doesnt show anything on the screen, I just get a 'mode not supported' message, which is probably another way of saying 'no signal'. Im absolutely stumped on what to do and wondered if you could offer any insight please?
i would recommend first test it on another TV to eliminate the box as being faulty, if it's not picked up on another TV change the hdmi cable and test again, if it's still giving no output i would return the box. its impossible to say without being there and accessing the box from a pc to test further, odds are the box is faulty, but if it works on another tv it may be something as simple as a setting on the tv although i don't expect it will be that. trouble is a lot of dealers sell cheap clone copies and the quality inside are very very poor and also a fire risk. even if the resolution was set wrong on the box you would get some output on the tv.
Sorry mate, yes you will need to load new firmware on to the box via either an sd card or pc depending on the box. google will be your friend, i strongly advise contacting your supplier to get the correct firmware for that box because you can brick it flashing the wrong firmware. good luck.
Did the reset as instructed, however, I have now lost the ability to scroll through menus while watching movie/TV show or live. Any idea for resolving?
+sparxx3000 hmmm sounds odd may the kodi is corrupted in you system files, either try it factory reset once more but give them plenty of time to install sometime people don't give enough time, or if that still the same remove in settings other more settings apps kodi or spmc force stop uninstall then go to kodt.tv and download another version Jarvis beta 2 is very good although its only beta grab android arm version.
When you say mxq-4k is this the new box with s905 CPU? Got a feeling there not amlogic but rockchip not 100% with this I would contact your supplier but you may need to flash it (I've not had one in to test)
I think i screwed my TV Box. I did just as you said but when i clicked onto reset factory and on the bottom of the screen it said wiping data , Formatting data and nothing else, i waited 15 min but nothing So i went back to the screen and i cleared the cache polatician and some writing came up saying this failed and that failed and it would not let me reboot . and now all it will show is MXQ on the sceen .Can you help or am i out $70. +anthony macdonald what was the reason for doing a factory in the first place? sounds to me like something corrupted in the recovery. I would advise contacting your box supplier, you should be able to preform a factory reset that's what's its there for.
Some advice please my m8 box was constantly freezing so went through the steps to reset etc restarted and just the mbox logo came up.. following the steps to reinstall the firmware I now have major issues.... it won't turn on. The light flashes blue when you plug the power cable in but then goes off and it does the very same thing when I remove the cable. I am totally lost please can some one advise me.
i am afraid to say it sounds like you have bricked you m8 by flashing the wrong firmware on to it, (common fault is blue light but no output from the hdmi) not all boxes are genuine, a lot that get sold are cheap copies, with these copies they use different components on the board so they alter the firmware to suite there boxes needs. flashing the wrong firmware can brick your box and often does. not all bad news though, you should be able to recover this, you may fine that you can make a recovery sd card, you may need to use a pc with Amlogic usb burning tool and a A to A lead but sometimes you need to short 2 pins out on the nand to put it into recovery mode. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but google will be your friend, there is a good tuto on freaktab for recovering bricked m8 boxes. good luck.
I don't really understand your question, if at the end do you mean reboot device? Once in recovery restore factory settings and clean cache then reboot device
Plaese help , Ive tried the toothpick reset on a MXQ box and deleted old kodi and installed latest 16 Jarvis version of Kodi but the box still crashes before I can even run an add-on , the box just freezes (as it did on 1st plug in) ... Ive got another 2 MXQ boxes that Ive had for months and up-dated with no problem ... thanks for any info
+Gerry Hat-trick Gerry, toothpick reset will not remove Kodi unless the box came without kodi on originally. a factory reset will set it to default settings and remove everything that has been added after you purchased the box. once you have preformed a factory reset give it a good 10 minutes before you even touch the remote just leave the box, a lot of people don't give them long enough for the apps to unpack and install. then after say 10-15 mins more longer wont hurt go to settings - other - more - apps and click on the app to remove kodi in this case force stop and remove/delete app then download official kodi from the site arm android version and try that good luck

Only thing left is flashing firmware, just be aware that you need the correct firmware, most mxq boxes are cheap clone copies so you may find the box has failed.
Sounds like the recovery image is not comparable with your remote, I've seen this on m8 boxes. But a USB mouse should work. Try doing a factory reset through the gui, I made a guide recently
what box is it Denise? sometimes you can recover them by flashing new firmware on but sometimes on cheaper boxes the problem is hardware failure. it really does depend on what caused the problem in the first place, what the problem is but on the other hand you have nothing to lose by attempting a firmware flash, but you really (i cant stress this enough) need the correct firmware for your box. be aware that if its a clone box the odds on the original manufactures firmware working is remote, i recommend you contact you supplier for the correct firmware.

+john lawrence hi john, sorry for late reply, cant say if its a gonna, need a little more info mate, can you get it into recovery mode? what did you do to it before it stopped working? normally with the symptoms you've described its soft bricked caused be flashing the incorrect firmware on.
Cara Smith unsure why you have had to keep doing a factory reset? sounds like the box you purchased is some cheap clone with bad firmware. If your stuck on bootlogo only thing you can really do is flash firmware on it, I recommend contact your supplier for the correct firmware for your box.

It's simply caused by you not exiting from kodi back to your android side before powering the box off. DO NOT JUST TURN YOUR BOX OFF EXIT THE APP CORRECTLY!! (Bottom left of kodi home screen) You can reset it back to factory setting if you follow this video ruclips.net/video/95zDGy_sDNM/видео.html But beware you will lose everything including any in android ! If you purchased the box from us you can run the wizard and restore the kodi back up very quickly.

If it will go into recovery you may be able to flash new firmware in to it. Seems very odd how it went off that's all never know one do that, makes me think box is faulty but if you can get into recovery it's worth trying to flash it via sd card

+Nicky H your going to need to flash some firmware onto the box sounds like its been seriously corrupted I've never come across this myself. Contact your supplier for the correct firmware.
my mxq box is connected to our wifi. does this usually cause lots of freezing and buffering issues? we have upgraded our internet from 6mbs to 24, but still we have the buffering issues. also, purchased from a friend, not a brand new box. we get a lot of messages saying cache full, we've deleted the cacge but it gets full again quickly. any suggestions?
+6155ish wifi is to slow and has no error correction if packets are dropped, your far better off being hard wired if not invest in some power line adapters. cache should over right itself no need to keep cleaning it. you may want to set cache to 0 advanced setting although some people say this damages boxes.

Reset the box again without the Ethernet connected and this time when it reboots don't touch it for 15 minutes. This is normally caused by opening a app before all apps have installed, but it can also be caused by dealers selling boxes that don't know how to set them up correctly, why would you need firmware if only apps are missing? .

try another hdmi cable and hdmi port on the tv, if possible test on another tv, but i suspect the box has firmware issue maybe hardware but it does depend on how this happend to the likelihood of which one, if you were trying to flash it odds are its bricked the box, normally you get a power light but no output from the hdmi, if it was working and the just stopped odds are its hardware. if its bricked you should be able to recover it but sometimes you will need an A to A lead and .img file sometimes you can get away with recovery sd card but most of the time you will need to short the nand pins out to get it to recover, it really depends on box etc google would be your friend. hope this helps
I have a m3 android and it is on the first screen and will not start up. Ive tried trouble shooting and the reboot wont work it goes black screen . Have only had since january and only use for tv and movies. Im quite dissappointed and frustrated with product was not cheap. Nor knock off grrr

I get to the section where you need to scroll up and down from reboot system to the bit where I need to scroll down to factory reset, but the remote doesn't do anything, it instructs me to do it with the volume button, but I have tried every button and new batteries and it works fine at any part of the M8 excet this bit, tried the function of "pointing" the mouse that that doesn't appear either. +Karen Walker you will need to plug a usb mouse in, its the recovery that does not support your remote, always seems to be with m8 and mxiii boxes.you should be able to go to system and add what ever to your menu. not sure what back up your running but you may lose everything by doing a factory reset. I cant say for sure. depends how your box has been set up. I would contact your supplier.

Just in case it helps anyone else, I went to Kodi TV, then Add Ons then Turk TV then sports, you get SKy Sports 1 2 3 4 5 Formula One and Bt Sports, so therefore any premier leauge game with no big subscriptions! hello, I did a factory reset on my mxq yesterday and today I'm experiencing the same problem. the screen is once again stuck on the MBOX screen. is there something wrong with mine or am I doing something wrong when I install kodi?
+Desi Rae the Mxq box are very cheap a lot are clones, copies, well most are clones, you only have to read all the problems with them below. it could be corrupted meaning flashing it but depending how old it is may be worth returning it and buying a better box. we stopped selling Mxq hd18q boxes last September time to give you an idea how out dated they now are, We only sold the genuine models not the cheap clone copies. if you don't exit out of kodi correctly it will corrupt your os if the box is rooted, but does not normally get stuck booting but it can.

not familiar with that box has it got an av 3.5mm jack hole? some reset switches are inside there use a cocktail stick you should hear it click or google the model

+Manuel Hernandez is it a 4k tv? can you test it on a different tv?, change hdmi ? box could be faulty that's why i suggest testing it on a different tv first. could be anytime connect causing problems sorry it could be a few different things first if possible rule out the box being faulty then move on and eliminate possible problems.
When I do this it still shows the mbox loading screen then says welcome to new device and nothing has been deleted. The blue screen where you select data wipe doesn' even show
+matt denker it will because they don't have an internal battery as long as time zone is correct it will set from the internet takes less than a minutes on even the slowest boxes or if your not happy to wait leave the box switched on
Chris G Hi Chris, did you buy your MXQ box from us, if you did please contact me through our email? if you didn't buy from us I recommend you contact your supplier, There are quite a few different versions of the MXQ box around and the firmware is different on all. flashing the wrong firmware on can brick your box. There are quite a few knocking around on Freaktab etc... Megatron have one out also for this box but again its flashing blind really.
Check in settings time zone is correct and tick automatic date and time and make sure it's connected to the Internet. It picks the time up from the Internet can take up to a minute to get date and time.
ya unfortunately my net is fine ad the box is checked, i program the boxes about 10 a week but this one is different. I have seen the problem on the net but no one has a solution. When it is in 1970 you cant watch anything so u have to manually put the date forward everytime u turn the box on which is great for me but not other people
If you power on the m8s holding the reset button in for approx 10 seconds that should get you to your recovery partition. If it doesn't it's eitger corrupt or box has failed try flashing with correct firmware contact your box supplier to get the correct firmware for your box. Don't use one you just find on the net because odds are yours will be a clone / copied from original using differant components needed correct firmware.
hey i need a solution for my box.. cant find5 what can i do when i did this: bought an ott tvbox ( T95m 4k) try to get the mx8 stock rom onto it went into bootloader did not wipe data got stuck during instalation, gave long black screen so after a while i pulled the power plug. after itdid not boot i now tried the av reset toothpick but it does not yield a bootloader just black screens...... i need a solution badly..
basically all black screen and the av button yields ... a black screen. even after minutes of holding it long. did i fuckup my otttvbox?i just bought it...
flashing the wrong rom on to any box will only end badly. i can only recommend you contact your supplier and see if they can provide the correct rom, but now your at this stage, it may struggle to load the correct rom onto it. you maybe lucky, it may require the nand pins to be shorted to be able to flash it. your supplier and google will be your friend. good luck
TV BOX COMPANY i bought it from someone last week but lost his contact info so i have no idea whede he bought it. eu plug atleast. ive seen what you mean .if i run current through the nand pins, this will allow bootloader to boot or will this allow me to use that pc program.. forgot the name.. amlogic? in anyway there has to be a way go get into bootloader right?
Not sure on your box sorry, depending on what your trying to do, factory reset should be ok with wipe data factory reset and wipe cache partition, maybe worth contacting your supplier and asking first.
How long did you give it after the reset? Give it a good 10 minutes before even touching it once it's rebooted and make sure you unplug the Ethernet before doing the reset

it should work for any Amlogic device with a factory recovery. but it depends on how good your supplier was on what it comes back up with and without. good luck.

Worked great for me after I bricked it trying to install Lollipop 5.0. It's just too old of box to do that on.

My husband erased EVERYTHING trying to clear the "cache". If we do this reset, will it bring back all of the programs?

it sounds like something has corrupted the recovery partition, i think you're going to need to flash the box. i strongly recommend you contact the box seller you purchased it from to get the correct firmware and flashing method for your device, its a very risky guessing game getting the correct firmware if you don't get it from your dealer. and you can kill the box if you flash it with the wrong firmware.

Hi I have an MXq box about 18 moths old it will only partially boot I get the MQq logo and shadow and then the MXBOX multicoloured logo and then the tv goes blank. The box looks OK the blue light is on but the TV says searching for signal. Have you any ideas please.

You may recovery it will a firmware flash, but it could be hardware issue as most of these are cheap clones of the original MXQ Hd18Q. Don't be surprised if its the hardware that's failed they are the cheapest box on the market.

Hi Jennie, if you have followed the guide and press reboot that should have restored it back to factory settings, i assume the box has now not got Kodi installed? some sellers simply don't know what there doing i am afraid, if this is the case you will need to do a little research on installing kodi and a wizard i expect would be the easiest method for you if your not sure. hope this helps a little.
Hi , I have 2 M8S boxes. In one I get bbq pit boys, food net work, Laura's Kitchen etc. Under You Tube in Add Ons are a whole bunch of things. On the other M8S none of these work, & it says that You Tube is not configured correctly? It says to go to You Tube.com/activate. How do I configure You Tube so that everything will work? Hi there, I have an M8S 2 box and when I plugged it into a 1080p Samsung TV (around 7 years old) it doesnt show anything on the screen, I just get a 'mode not supported' message, which is probably another way of saying 'no signal'. Im absolutely stumped on what to do and wondered if you could offer any insight please?
i would recommend first test it on another TV to eliminate the box as being faulty, if it's not picked up on another TV change the hdmi cable and test again, if it's still giving no output i would return the box. its impossible to say without being there and accessing the box from a pc to test further, odds are the box is faulty, but if it works on another tv it may be something as simple as a setting on the tv although i don't expect it will be that. trouble is a lot of dealers sell cheap clone copies and the quality inside are very very poor and also a fire risk. even if the resolution was set wrong on the box you would get some output on the tv.

Sorry mate, yes you will need to load new firmware on to the box via either an sd card or pc depending on the box. google will be your friend, i strongly advise contacting your supplier to get the correct firmware for that box because you can brick it flashing the wrong firmware. good luck.

+sparxx3000 hmmm sounds odd may the kodi is corrupted in you system files, either try it factory reset once more but give them plenty of time to install sometime people don't give enough time, or if that still the same remove in settings other more settings apps kodi or spmc force stop uninstall then go to kodt.tv and download another version Jarvis beta 2 is very good although its only beta grab android arm version.

When you say mxq-4k is this the new box with s905 CPU? Got a feeling there not amlogic but rockchip not 100% with this I would contact your supplier but you may need to flash it (I've not had one in to test)
I think i screwed my TV Box. I did just as you said but when i clicked onto reset factory and on the bottom of the screen it said wiping data , Formatting data and nothing else, i waited 15 min but nothing So i went back to the screen and i cleared the cache polatician and some writing came up saying this failed and that failed and it would not let me reboot . and now all it will show is MXQ on the sceen .Can you help or am i out $70. Some advice please my m8 box was constantly freezing so went through the steps to reset etc restarted and just the mbox logo came up.. following the steps to reinstall the firmware I now have major issues.... it won't turn on. The light flashes blue when you plug the power cable in but then goes off and it does the very same thing when I remove the cable. I am totally lost please can some one advise me.
i am afraid to say it sounds like you have bricked you m8 by flashing the wrong firmware on to it, (common fault is blue light but no output from the hdmi) not all boxes are genuine, a lot that get sold are cheap copies, with these copies they use different components on the board so they alter the firmware to suite there boxes needs. flashing the wrong firmware can brick your box and often does. not all bad news though, you should be able to recover this, you may fine that you can make a recovery sd card, you may need to use a pc with Amlogic usb burning tool and a A to A lead but sometimes you need to short 2 pins out on the nand to put it into recovery mode. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but google will be your friend, there is a good tuto on freaktab for recovering bricked m8 boxes. good luck.

Plaese help , Ive tried the toothpick reset on a MXQ box and deleted old kodi and installed latest 16 Jarvis version of Kodi but the box still crashes before I can even run an add-on , the box just freezes (as it did on 1st plug in) ... +Gerry Hat-trick Gerry, toothpick reset will not remove Kodi unless the box came without kodi on originally. a factory reset will set it to default settings and remove everything that has been added after you purchased the box. once you have preformed a factory reset give it a good 10 minutes before you even touch the remote just leave the box, a lot of people don't give them long enough for the apps to unpack and install. then after say 10-15 mins more longer wont hurt go to settings - other - more - apps and click on the app to remove kodi in this case force stop and remove/delete app then download official kodi from the site arm android version and try that good luck

Only thing left is flashing firmware, just be aware that you need the correct firmware, most mxq boxes are cheap clone copies so you may find the box has failed.

Sounds like the recovery image is not comparable with your remote, I've seen this on m8 boxes. But a USB mouse should work. Try doing a factory reset through the gui, I made a guide recently

what box is it Denise? sometimes you can recover them by flashing new firmware on but sometimes on cheaper boxes the problem is hardware failure. it really does depend on what caused the problem in the first place, what the problem is but on the other hand you have nothing to lose by attempting a firmware flash, but you really (i cant stress this enough) need the correct firmware for your box. be aware that if its a clone box the odds on the original manufactures firmware working is remote, i recommend you contact you supplier for the correct firmware.

Done a factory reset many times now and it's just stuck on Google TV image. At a loss now as not had much to do with it before.
Cara Smith unsure why you have had to keep doing a factory reset? sounds like the box you purchased is some cheap clone with bad firmware. If your stuck on bootlogo only thing you can really do is flash firmware on it, I recommend contact your supplier for the correct firmware for your box.

First adjust TV to "fit to screen" in TV screen settings. then you should set the box settings to the TV resolution 1080 4k etc

It's simply caused by you not exiting from kodi back to your android side before powering the box off. DO NOT JUST TURN YOUR BOX OFF EXIT THE APP CORRECTLY!! (Bottom left of kodi home screen)

If it will go into recovery you may be able to flash new firmware in to it. Seems very odd how it went off that's all never know one do that, makes me think box is faulty but if you can get into recovery it's worth trying to flash it via sd card

my mxq box is connected to our wifi. does this usually cause lots of freezing and buffering issues? we have upgraded our internet from 6mbs to 24, but still we have the buffering issues. also, purchased from a friend, not a brand new box. we get a lot of messages saying cache full, we've deleted the cacge but it gets full again quickly. any suggestions?
+6155ish wifi is to slow and has no error correction if packets are dropped, your far better off being hard wired if not invest in some power line adapters. cache should over right itself no need to keep cleaning it. you may want to set cache to 0 advanced setting although some people say this damages boxes.

Reset the box again without the Ethernet connected and this time when it reboots don't touch it for 15 minutes. This is normally caused by opening a app before all apps have installed, but it can also be caused by dealers selling boxes that don't know how to set them up correctly, why would you need firmware if only apps are missing? .

try another hdmi cable and hdmi port on the tv, if possible test on another tv, but i suspect the box has firmware issue maybe hardware but it does depend on how this happend to the likelihood of which one, if you were trying to flash it odds are its bricked the box, normally you get a power light but no output from the hdmi, if it was working and the just stopped odds are its hardware. if its bricked you should be able to recover it but sometimes you will need an A to A lead and .img file sometimes you can get away with recovery sd card but most of the time you will need to short the nand pins out to get it to recover, it really depends on box etc google would be your friend. hope this helps

I get to the section where you need to scroll up and down from reboot system to the bit where I need to scroll down to factory reset, but the remote doesn't do anything, it instructs me to do it with the volume button, but I have tried every button and new batteries and it works fine at any part of the M8 excet this bit, tried the function of "pointing" the mouse that that doesn't appear either. +Karen Walker you will need to plug a usb mouse in, its the recovery that does not support your remote, always seems to be with m8 and mxiii boxes.you should be able to go to system and add what ever to your menu. not sure what back up your running but you may lose everything by doing a factory reset. I cant say for sure. depends how your box has been set up. I would contact your supplier.

+Desi Rae the Mxq box are very cheap a lot are clones, copies, well most are clones, you only have to read all the problems with them below. it could be corrupted meaning flashing it but depending how old it is may be worth returning it and buying a better box. we stopped selling Mxq hd18q boxes last September time to give you an idea how out dated they now are, We only sold the genuine models not the cheap clone copies. if you don't exit out of kodi correctly it will corrupt your os if the box is rooted, but does not normally get stuck booting but it can.

+Manuel Hernandez is it a 4k tv? can you test it on a different tv?, change hdmi ? box could be faulty that's why i suggest testing it on a different tv first. could be anytime connect causing problems sorry it could be a few different things first if possible rule out the box being faulty then move on and eliminate possible problems.

Chris G Hi Chris, did you buy your MXQ box from us, if you did please contact me through our email? if you didn't buy from us I recommend you contact your supplier, There are quite a few different versions of the MXQ box around and the firmware is different on all. flashing the wrong firmware on can brick your box. There are quite a few knocking around on Freaktab etc... Megatron have one out also for this box but again its flashing blind really.

Check in settings time zone is correct and tick automatic date and time and make sure it's connected to the Internet. It picks the time up from the Internet can take up to a minute to get date and time.
ya unfortunately my net is fine ad the box is checked, i program the boxes about 10 a week but this one is different. I have seen the problem on the net but no one has a solution. When it is in 1970 you cant watch anything so u have to manually put the date forward everytime u turn the box on which is great for me but not other people

If you power on the m8s holding the reset button in for approx 10 seconds that should get you to your recovery partition. If it doesn't it's eitger corrupt or box has failed try flashing with correct firmware contact your box supplier to get the correct firmware for your box. Don't use one you just find on the net because odds are yours will be a clone / copied from original using differant components needed correct firmware.

bought an ott tvbox ( T95m 4k)
try to get the mx8 stock rom onto it
went into bootloader
did not wipe data
got stuck during instalation, gave long black screen so after a while i pulled the power plug. after itdid not boot i now tried the av reset toothpick but it does not yield a bootloader

flashing the wrong rom on to any box will only end badly. i can only recommend you contact your supplier and see if they can provide the correct rom, but now your at this stage, it may struggle to load the correct rom onto it. you maybe lucky, it may require the nand pins to be shorted to be able to flash it. your supplier and google will be your friend. good luck

Not sure on your box sorry, depending on what your trying to do, factory reset should be ok with wipe data factory reset and wipe cache partition, maybe worth contacting your supplier and asking first.

How long did you give it after the reset? Give it a good 10 minutes before even touching it once it's rebooted and make sure you unplug the Ethernet before doing the reset

M8 boxes require you to use a USB mouse or USB keyboard it should also work with 2.4ghz dongle and mouse/keyboard

my mxq pro 4x ..has a blank screen..i tried the toothpick method and it isnt working. .can someone help

I've done the hard reset aswell
when I go to do the hard reset I do not work the remote as I do I do it . ?
use a usb mouse or keyboard
does this work the same for MXQ PRO?
it should work for any Amlogic device with a factory recovery. but it depends on how good your supplier was on what it comes back up with and without. good luck.
