My brother got me this game for my birthday last November. I have gotten so much out of it. It works better on my mediocre computer. I first played through with Engineer and have taken her about as far as I could. I didn't want to waste a lot of skill points figuring out where to take the outlander. You're guide has been very helpful
Yah I myself have literally utilized all three trees and in my personal opinion I think its the absolute BEST way to go about building any class in this game(which is normally not the case). But the use of passives is really where I think the strengths of your class come out.
i haven't seen it pointed out yet that you can put points into multiple trees, and each skill doesn't have any prerequisites other than level requirements. Will admit that those things are the same for all classes though, so i can imagine it not being mentioned in these vids.
I have mostly warfare skills and the rapid fire skills uses so much mp that you need more mana so you can sustain that high rate of damag, but then still have decent strength, while basically nothing in vitality
so it's good to split up your attribute points like that: DEX and STR when concentrating on WARFARE SKILLS and DEX and FOCUS when concentrating on LORE SKILLS?
Same here. I just got the game and I can't believe it took me so long to get it. I liked Diablo 3 for about 50 hours of gameplay then you realize the game is based around the real money auction house and the game because terrible. Torchlight is a lot of fun so far and as a Diablo 1 and 2 veteran, I can really appreciate the hard work they put into making this game "more diablo than diablo 3." If you reading my comment and are unsure whether or not to buy the game, you really should get it.
Great guide and well spoken. I did hope for a more extensive guide to each ability in the tree. Some words are a little confusing. Any chance you will do some build videos?
I used to play Glavelander but I couldn't use any of the end game gear! Tons of dmg but nothing to strive for and it got so boring after level 80. I switch to poison rain/flaming glaives and duel pistols which is a lot squishier but kind of fun. You can just hold down flaming glaive and if you have mana per hit on your weapons you can spam it forever. But what do I do? I have to have like 360 dex to use end game gear which is making my damage doody. lol
I do glaive build if I make a Focus based Outlander, Glaive Throw becomes Stupid strong in the end game where you have imba amounts of increased Poison Damage.
The way I play outlander is all-out dodge stacking. I have massive dex increasing armors, naturally I have like 150ish dex at lvl 35ish, but with the armors it becomes something like 220. Puttin points into Shotgonne/Ranged weapon mastery, Levelling Sandstorm/Dodge mastery/the poison bouncing glaive and 1 point into the backflip in the warfare tree just to get away. Haven't really bothered with share the wealth tho, not sure why.
Don't use it on them then? Save the points later for when you can put em on skills you actually use. Pick long range, shotgun or akimbo, then use the remaining points on skills you benefit the most from.
So.... I'm total noob but dive into learning as much about a game and a class as possible when I get going. First off Runic messed up this class by having them need dex for equipment and strength for damage. Causes a lot of issues from what I read when you get into elite NG+. Worst build that actually seems to work is a posion shotgun build. Two builds that are the best is either rocking a glaivelander or using a mad genius build. Glaivelander pretty much uses a lvl 5 glaive skill, master of elements and some support staff with almost all points going into focus and rocking a wand. Otherwise you go mad genius....akimbo a wand in primary hand and gun in off hand....again points going into focus but u can use stuff like Venomous hall. For why, and exactly what skills to use check the forums for elite builds. Its to late and I'm to lazy to go link them but had to say something cause this tutorial was giving me an anurism.
Should point out this is just the bread and butter of the builds IMO. There's a lot more to the ins outs and how's whys, this is a fun class for those that like outside the box thinking and builds or just DGAF and are only playing for fun and don't plan on getting up into the insane differculties
The Outlander can be regarded as the weakest solo player, but they can be decent to use in multiplayer. The dodge mechanic only works for enemy melee attacks and most of what would kill you is ranged and AoE garbage; particularly from the robots in the Alchemist's mine level that throw fire bombs and shoot with machine guns and flamethrowers. What you should prioritize is the Outlander's ability to poison and reduce armor at range, and ONLY at range.
This video only told me things I figured out in the first 10 minutes of the game. Almost completely useless. I was looking for an in-depth leveling guide for long term gameplay.
i think the way you talk about stats is not right. I mean no one gonna stick to one tree. There is no incetive to do a single tree. I think everyone gonna pick the best skills from all 3 tree. So thats will vary depending which skills they choose
this guide is useless, i can read all this by entering game...what build is best, what gear is best, thats a question, how to spend ability points and talents...ffs
Yet another channel I'm about to block for this reason, I always block the ones that upload videos where they're literally just reading skills for me... no tip and tricks, literally telling you what you can clearly read by yourself. Waste of time.
It's hard finding good weapons for the Outlander, right now i have two Unique pistols, Full Bore Skull Bore and One Small Favor. My Outlander's kinda weak considering I have no healing spells, the best i have is Stone Pact
Saying lore tree is ment to be in the fight up close cause of dodge? Terrible advice. At least look up some builds before doing class vids if you don't know anything about the class.
Since when do you role play in Torchlight? The term role play went from dice throwing games, then to nerds dressing up like a dude from lord of the rings and now they label games that people control character role play games. GTA 5 is a role play game. So HsDeluxe2 is correct, the only games torchlight came compare with in reality are other dungeon crawler games, which there are tons out there and Torchlight seems to be in the top 3. Ps calling people asshole on the internet, great life mate.

Most people go for dual pistol builds... Am I the only one that likes using the longer range weapons, like bows and crossbows?
For the Warfare tree you also need some strength because the skills scale of a % of your weapons DPS and so more strength = more rapid fire damage.
Yah I myself have literally utilized all three trees and in my personal opinion I think its the absolute BEST way to go about building any class in this game(which is normally not the case). But the use of passives is really where I think the strengths of your class come out.
poison damage = best type of outlander
thank you alot, this game is a bit hard to understand but now with this i've learned something :D
i haven't seen it pointed out yet that you can put points into multiple trees, and each skill doesn't have any prerequisites other than level requirements. Will admit that those things are the same for all classes though, so i can imagine it not being mentioned in these vids.
straight to the point, no mucking around
great guide
If you play SP only you can't really stick to one tree IMO. You need some form of crowd control and damage dealing
I caved today during the steam sale and got it, couldnt be more pleased.

He's reading the tooltips. Congratulations
but he is giving nice advice. I know what he does in a team that the game does not give me
Rapid fire, vault and daggers reminds me alot about the DH.
Got it gifted to me. It's freaking great.

Enchanting with powerful stat enchants and gear with +dex/+stg
I do glaive build if I make a Focus based Outlander, Glaive Throw becomes Stupid strong in the end game where you have imba amounts of increased Poison Damage.
could you both stream some Torchlight 2?
Which weapons are best with the lore skilltree ?

Does Master of Elements work off elemental damage on your weapon?
Im lvl 60 how my stats and skills should look like?
Trying this game out today ty:D
Long Range Mastery, Akimbo, Glaive throw, Dodge mastery and Master of the Elements was my outlander Veteran build. Lots of Mana and Health.
Focus is also decent in warefare when using pistols (execute is awesome)
Would love an engineer version of this! Nice vid!
My Outlander is a complete mishmash. Skills from All 3 trees. Kinda epic
Don't use it on them then? Save the points later for when you can put em on skills you actually use. Pick long range, shotgun or akimbo, then use the remaining points on skills you benefit the most from.
$15 on steam was well worth it.
omg i play overwatch and I just started torchlight 2 and holy shit this dude sounds so different
You have that SAS type of voice xD
My outlander build stun and knockback with a shotnome while dealing damage in an arc
A magnificent game.
Bought this game on Steam for only 19 bucks! Damn what a great buy!
They gave it for free a year ago

Yah I noticed that, oh well. 10, 15 still well worth it.
Coming from diablo 3 you really shouldn't be surprised how good this game is lol
really helpfull
what means AOE damage?
Area Of Effect
ImNotWrong2 Thanks mate ;)

coming from diablo 3 i cannot believ how good this game is. for half price. although i havent found anything good yet,,,
this guide is useless, i can read all this by entering game...what build is best, what gear is best, thats a question, how to spend ability points and talents...ffs
if you want build and gear vids you look for build and gear vids not the character basics....
Yet another channel I'm about to block for this reason, I always block the ones that upload videos where they're literally just reading skills for me... no tip and tricks, literally telling you what you can clearly read by yourself. Waste of time.
keep these vids coming! :D
So you want an autowin build that you can just right click away with? =) I think figuring out a build is a huge part of playing the game...
You're not tied to one tree, Imo the better builds are combinations of trees
Nice overview, cheers.4
It's hard finding good weapons for the Outlander, right now i have two Unique pistols, Full Bore Skull Bore and One Small Favor. My Outlander's kinda weak considering I have no healing spells, the best i have is Stone Pact
How is this a guide? you just read off the abilities O_o
Gw2 Mesmer
Got it for 4.79€ at steam:) yeeey
I prefer playing Torchlight 2 instead of D3 because Torchlight had something i missed ALOT in D3, less depressing enviroments.
nice
Dodge mastery works well with those enemies who crowd your ass.
Saying lore tree is ment to be in the fight up close cause of dodge? Terrible advice. At least look up some builds before doing class vids if you don't know anything about the class.
I disagree!
$10 today lol

@@Jarczenko was worth the 9 year wait.
PIRATE BAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.....(that way, you dont like it? you didnt spend anything) that is all.....
dont you fucking compare Neverwinternights to a diablo-type of game
Since when do you role play in Torchlight?

You're thinking of stereotypical role playing. Torchlight is an RPG, a role playing game. Where the fuck is Grand Theft Auto a role playing game?
I bought mine from runic games; i prefer to run my game offline.
