    The Tacoma Four-cylinder turbo will never go 300,000 miles the six cylinder that they got rid of will. Coupled with the fact Among other reasons that the trucks cost $50,000 now is going to be the death blow of the Tacoma unless Toyota makes radical changes

      Won’t be too quick to judge, the bulletproof Hilux in our markets outside USA had a 4 cylinder turbo 2.7 liter petrol engine for decades. That has been quite reliable and even though discontinued in some markets in favour of the equally reliable 2.8 turbo 4 cylinder diesel, it lives on in markets such as Saudi Arabia. I reckon it’s a good move Toyota didn’t go with the new less reliable V6. Also other than maybe current owners, no one would want the less power and more thirsty V6 in the previous gen Tacoma. I haven’t heard many issues with the 2.4 from other Toyota products, so why would it have issues in the Tacoma.

    • @JamesG77733
      @JamesG77733 21 день назад +1

      @@braalo07 with all due respect, the Six cylinder Toyota engine that was discontinued after 2023 is a bulletproof engine ,That typically goes well over 300,000 miles. And does have more than adequate performance . Let’s all wait time will tell we will wait and see what happens a year from now once these engines have had time and miles to Prove their reliability or not

    • @braalo07
      @braalo07 21 день назад

      @@JamesG77733 well unless you’re from the future you can’t claim the four cylinder turbo can’t make 300,000 miles. Henceforth I’m telling you the current similar engines in Toyota’s other midsize truck held up well. I’m telling you because I know those similar engines have been bulletproof. Believe me that based on what I see trucks in Australia, Africa and Middle East see more abuse than the USA based on harsher terrain, agricultural use and military use. With the Taco, perhaps the hybrid setup my affect longevity but not all Tacomas have hybrid engines

      The tex is an amazing truck. And right now is the time to buy. You can get them for 10k under msrp whereas 6 months ago they were 10k over. It is an excellent truck and in my opinion once it's gone and the v8s are all gone in a few years the value and demand for the trx will be huge. Agree with everything you said. Not because I'm a Toyota fanboy but because I can't afford to buy a new truck every 3-5 years. I bought my 2023 Tacoma TRD Off Road 18 months ago to replace a 17 year old 4Runner that was unfortunately totaled in a collision or I would still own it today. I'm getting a little long in the tooth and wanted a truck to outlast me and could think of nothing else besides the Tacoma. Yes it has all the little idiosyncrasies you mentioned but it hasn't bothered me one bit because of what my expectations are for the truck. This truck has hauled dirt, concrete, gravel at over max loads, pulled a trailer, equipped with overloading gear at near max load, gone on off road trails in Moab and Colorado Rockies and not one single issue. Keep it completely stock and will only upgrade the tires when the time comes. You nailed it by calling future vehicles being made as disposable. That's exactly what is going on. The price point will be so expensive that it will force people to lease (rent). People will no longer be able to afford to "own" a vehicle. Unfortunately I see that happening with homes as well. The only thing that will bring me and those like me is when they artificially raise the price of gas so high we won't be able to drive our gas powered vehicle. I hope that doesn't happen in my lifetime but it's coming real quick. Also you explained perfectly why to skip the light duty truck and go directly to the HD.

Last one I turned in had 186k HARD work miles with lots of idle times and heavy hauling in Hot Texas weather. In a new 2024 same truck features and so far so good. The 6.4l Hemi engines have been really reliable in our fleet of work trucks. I say this becaus there are very few left naturally aspirated with no turbos. I have a 2019 4Runner. This was the last year you could buy it without adaptive cruise and lane search. Which I didn’t want because of the modifications I was going to make. I took a good look at the new 2025 4Runner. I think I’m going to keep mine forever if possible.

      I would give the new 4 runner a couple years to prove itself before I invested the kind of money they are asking for it

    Here here’s a video idea: why is Stellantis such a bad company?

    • @SamkoWorkShop
      @SamkoWorkShop  22 дня назад +1

      That would be a great video. I should make it. Lots to talk about too. I love jeep and ram tremendously, but I can nit stand stellantis. Wish jeep and ram would be bought out or break off from stellantis.

    The reason to buy a half ton truck is the better ride quality, better optioned. Half tons have steadily increased towing and payload capacity as well. Better mpg.
    I would still get a HD truck over a half ton though.

      Full size market is too saturated for my taste and the value is better in midsize and hd. In my opinion. In mind size and HD I can make money on a new truck. Can't do that in a fullsize very well with how saturated. So I don't mess with full size anymore. 2018 was my last full size and probably won't buy another

    My 15 tundra has over 390,000 on it with no issues.... The new motors are spinning out bearings some with in 10,000 miles others at around 50,000. NO WAY are they "reliable" even the new Tacoma is having issues few Videos of Tacomas front diff coming apart in side. And its a proving fact forced injection Engines. do not last Like naturally aspirated ones do.

      True a turbo engine will not last as long as a naturally aspirated one will.

    I bought a 2024 4runner for this exact reason. I think you could add the ram 2500 6.4 hemi to your list also. It’s the last of the port fuel injection V8s with most of the bugs worked out of it. I bought a 2023 Power Wagon new for this reason.

      Your right. And the power wagon is and always will be one of the best trucks ever made.
