Up a whole step? Interesting. I had no idea Alex ever used any alternate tunings with the exception of the song “Hope.”

Hey Mark, a lot of it just a ton of Reverb and Delay. I use the UAD lexicon 224 and the AMS RMX for the digital reverb and the Echoboy from Soundtoys for the delay. I think I might have used a chorus pedal to get that 80's spread sound too

Hey dodecafono. I played that backing myself. I haven't decided whether I should make the BT's available for download or not. I'll figure it out soon. If you aren't able to recreate the backing tracks from scratch I recommend using the online program called Lalalai. It's the most accurate separating software I've heard so far. The only issue is you can't separate the rhythm guitar from the lead guitar

Is it even possible for me to play this even though my guitar does not have a whammy bar?

Hey Frank, most of Alex's playing in the 80's uses a whammy bar for the vibrato so if you want that 80's rush feel you would have to use the whammy bar for this solo. Also, there isn't any other way to add vibrato to open string harmonics.
